• Problem with custom Dialog Android

  Hi, I have a custom Dialog on my app and I have a problem to do what I would like. I explain. My Dialog have had 4 Buttons. (Back, Valid, Modify and Restore) When user click on Modify or Valid I would like to call another activity. So I use Intent but it crash. • SFTP - Unable to Overwrite File - "EOF received from remote side"

  I am working with a customer to troubleshoot an error they have when trying to overwrite/"PUT" a file to our SFTP site. When the root directory is empty and they try to upload the file there is no problem but when they try to overwrite an existing file this is when the error occurs. The error they receive when trying a put command in Java Caps is: The error is: Batch SFTP eWay error when doing data transfer operation in [PUT()], message=[EOF received from remote side [Unknown cause]].|#] When they use WinSCP or FileZilla to put the file it overwrites fine with no errors. We have tried: Multiple different files Checking their SFTP user permissions Gave full access permissions to "everyone" to the user's root directory in Windows Recreating their user account Ensured no other processes are using/locking the files that are being overwriten We are using Cerberus Professional FTP server software. Any ideas of what else we could try?

  So I am managing a old java project that is using glassfish 2.x. Seems like netbeans does not support 2.x versions any more, so I want to change it to 3.1.1. How to properly make that change? I have JDK 1.6 installed. When I try to select the 3.1.1 does not fix the error "Unable to find Application Server J2EE" Thanks in advance. • DRS: Unknown JNLP Location

  We are using Deployment Rule Sets to limit access to the older JRE to well-known applications like - but are running into a problem. One business critical applications has the following properties (*s to protect info): title: Enterprise Services Repository location: null jar location: http://app.*.com:52400/rep/repository/*.jar jar version: null isArtifact: true The application downloads a .jnlp file, and uses java web start to execute. Since the location is null, this application cannot be targeted by a location rule. And the certificate hash method only works when the application is cached (being ran more than once). If cache storing is off, which is the case in some situations, how can this application be targeted? Or at least told to run with an older JRE on start? This problem is specifically noted in this bug Thanks!

• Options to optimize lotus notes 8.5.X

  Has anyone found actually useful optimization methods for the bulky, fat, eclipse giant, nuissance that is Lotus Notes 8.5? I want it to be fast, and not eat up system resources like crazy while I run it ALL day (as it is my company's corporate mail / cal / scheduling solution). I've tried various hacks for the JVM heap size (if I recall correctly). None really bring a performance improvement. I have a dual core cpu, if that helps (I tried going the route of optimizing JAVA for 2 cores in hopes it would work, but seen no speed improvement). Notes is just sooo bloated, anyone have any suggestions to optimize/mod this thing so it is more responsive and less of a resource hog. Note: I don't want to switch to the web version, or the standard stripped down versions, I am aware of those, I just cannot since we don't run those internally for the company.

  I need to use a java library that uses native code requiring a 32-bit jvm. I have 64-bit windows with 64-bit eclipse installed with 64-bit JDK7. In order to develop with it, do I need to have 32-bit JDK? Or would the JRE suffice? If it is possible to install both, what is the naming convention you use for the installation directory for the 32-bit jre or jdk? I have heard rumors there is a performance hit on virtual memory if both are installed, is this true?

  Hi i have a java application that starts/stops/restart Apache and it should also check for its status, so i have looked how checking for status of apache and it appears that you have to check for the state of the service, problem is that when i use apachectl start the service httpd is still not started, is that normal ? i check for the service state by doing service httpd status . • Where to install JDBC drivers in Hyperic Server

  I have installed Hyperic Server 4.4.0 and I want to use an SQL plugin that connects to an Oracle database. To make this work on the Agent i had to download a JDBC driver for Oracle and put it in [agent-dir]/bundles/[bundle-dir]/pdk/lib. I can now run my plugin on the agent using java -jar hq-products.jar .... Now I want to add it so that it shows up in the server hq. I put the plugin in the appropriate directory and I can add it as a platform service. However, when i try to configure the plugin I get the following error: No suitable driver found for jdbc:oracle:thin:@blah.blah:blah:blah This is the same error I got on the client before I added the Oracle JDBC driver, so I assume that's the problem here too. But where do I put the JDBC drivers on the server?

BUT..... if i use jdk1.5 or letest jdk1.6.0_18 the same thing is not work..i mean that jar file will not run in my website...   I would like to start the Jade agent platform with a batch script on an windows server ec2 instance as a service. The reason for this is, that I want to start jade automatically at system startup. For creating the service I use nssm. However so far its working fine and the service is created. When I want to start the service I get an error message: Windows could not start the NAME service on Local Computer. The service did not return an error... My batch file contains only one line: java jade.Boot -platform-id P%random% If i execute the script via cmd it works fine. Anybody got an idea why this is not working if I start the batch script as a service?

  I installed Apache Tomcat-7.0.32 on Linux Mandriva and I want to make it accessible. for this I need to open ports in iptables. I added the following rules- iptables -A INPUT -p tcp -m tcp --dport 8081 --syn -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT -p tcp -m tcp --dport 8010 --syn -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT -p tcp -m tcp --dport 8444 --syn -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT -p tcp -m tcp --dport 8006 --syn -j ACCEPT then save and restart iptables - /etc/init.d/iptables save /etc/init.d/iptables restart verify, that ports is open - netstat -tulpn | less I am running command - netstat-ntpl | grep java and see - When I disable the firewall, I see the start page of the server on request - http://server_ip:8081/ When enable - server not accessible from outside.   I've recently converted some java apps to run with linux manually-configured hugepages. I've got about 10 tomcats running on a system and I am interested in knowing how much memory each one is using. I can get summary information out of /proc/meminfo as described in Linux Huge Pages Usage Accounting. But I can't find any tools that tell me about the actual per-process hugepage usage. I poked around in /proc/pid/numa_stat and found some interesting information that led me to this grossity: function pshugepage () { HUGEPAGECOUNT=0 for num in `grep 'anon_hugepage.*dirty=' /proc/$@/numa_maps | awk '{print $6}' | sed 's/dirty=//'` ; do HUGEPAGECOUNT=$((HUGEPAGECOUNT+num)) done echo process $@ using $HUGEPAGECOUNT huge pages } The numbers it gives me are plausible, but i'm far from confident this method is correct. • How do I easily elevate when running a .jar file?

  When trying to run an installer Jar file, I am getting an error saying that write access is denied to create a directory under the Program Files folder. Right click - Run as Administrator is not available on Jar files (I assume because it is Java.exe that consumes them - they are not themselves treated as directly executable by the shell). What is the quickest and simplest way to run a .Jar file with elevation? I am evaluating this tool to recommend for our dev team, and they will manually install it on their boxes. I'd prefer an option that doesn't require them to type anything.

  When managing custom Java applications hosted inside WebSphere Application Server, what JMX metrics do you find most useful for monitoring performance, monitoring availability, and troubleshooting problems? And how do you prefer to slice and visualize those metrics (e.g. chart by top 10 hosts, graph by app, etc.). The more details I can get, the better, as I need to specify a standard set of reports which IT can offer to owners of applications hosted by IT, which those owners can customize but many won't bother. So I'll need to come up with a bunch of generally-applicable reports which most groups can use out-of-the-box. Obviously there's no one perfect answer to this question, so I'll accept the answer with the most comprehensive details and I'll be generous about upvoting any other useful answer. My question is WebSphere-specific, but I realize that most JMX metrics are equally applicable across any container, so feel free to give an answer for JBoss, Tomcat, WebLogic, etc.

• How to diagnose RAM?

  I have a java process that is aborted after a while with SIGSEGV. It started to happen after I upgraded the server with more RAM. Having tested on different JVMs I suspect it might be a hardware problem. But no problem was detected by memtest86. So, what else can I do to detect the source of the problem is? Should I take the RAM modules one by one to detect the faulty module? The server is running on 64bit OpenSuse11.3. The memory is not an ECC one it seems. • How do I setup PHP locally on Windows 7 with Tomcat 7 already installed?

  I have Windows 7 64 bit running on my laptop with Tomcat 7 installed to run my java programs using Eclipse. Now I need to be working with PHP and as I went to install it, I read you need to install Apache Web Server first, before installing PHP. Then I read where you can run PHP under Tomcat or run PHP on Apache Web Server while still using Tomcat, if you reset the default port on one of them as Tomcat and Apache Web Server would use the same ports by default. What is the best way to do this? I don't want to was lots of time getting stuck on configuration issues.

• Locale setting on a Red Hat box

  Hi all, Recently our organization got a couple of server boxes which are I guess present in some data-center in UK. The problem is that for some reason the default Locale representation in Java on that server returns en_US instead of the expected en_GB (I confirmed this by running a code on that server which simply outputs Locale.default()). I am pretty sure this has got something to do the way in which the boxes were set up. My question is: what would be the approach to fix this issue now that the OS has been installed? Is there any way I can for a given SSH session set the locale as en_GB instead of the current en_US? TIA, sasuke

  Hi, I've got a fresh win7 installation, the only apps installed so far are aptana (beta 3)/eclipse and firefox + chrome (except antivirus and drivers) Every time I start aptana, chrome and firefox are blocked, so firefox can't load a webpage (or sometimes takes veeeery long) and chrome doesn't even take care of events (so for example hovering over a link doesn't change the cursor and a click does...nothing or typing in an url, press enter - nothing happens) First I thought, aptana downloads something and blocks my internet connection... but IE works well and also there are no signs in the taskmanager (cpu%, network or memory) When I close Aptana, all works as before. I tried updating Java, which didn't help... On my office-computer I use the same apps and it works perfect. Got any ideas? TIA, waquner

• Roll standalone JBoss app under Tomcat

  I've got a Linux box where there’s Tomcat running, with some JSP applications in it. Now, I’ve received a third party app from a developer shop to be eventually deployed. It came as an archive called "jboss7.tar" which, it seems, contained a whole standalone Web server. Once I’ve followed their instructions and run the designated shell script, it would start a server that would listen on port 8081, and app pages are being served up. Still, this strikes me as an inelegant setup. Why run two Web servers side by side, both of them Java-enabled? Also, the manual startup of the standalone app, I don't like that either. The real question is – can I take the user-provided portions from the said archive and somehow plug it under the existing Tomcat instance? It looks like the user code is packaged into files with .war extension, I can see them under /var/jboss7/standalone/deployments.

• WSO2 Installation Stops

  I am only trying to get WSO2 Data Services to start up on an Ubuntu 10.04 LTS server. I have installed Java, set the JAVA_HOME environment variable, and download the binary distribution from WSO2. When I run /opt/wso2dataservices-2.6.2/bin/wso2server.sh, everything seems to start up fine and I can start to navigate to the page. The problem is a few seconds later, the console says Killed and everything stops. Does anybody have any ideas for how I can figure out what's going on? Edit: It seems to stop when I try to access the page, but not on its own.

• Imap subfolders not shown in list command - perhaps acls misconfiguration

  My goal is to copy the whole folder structure with all mails from one imap account to another. The tool I am using for this is imapcopy (the java based version from code.google.com since the unix/linux tool packaged with debian doesn't support imaps). Now, there is one problem: The tool only copies the top-level folders and not the nested ones. To narrow down the problem I have downloaded the source code of imapcopy and debugged into the code. There I noticed that the folder.list() (which is mapped to the list "%" imap command) returns an empty list. But when I do a getFolder(<subfoldername>) I can access those subfolders. After reading some documentation about the features of imap I think that the problem might be some misconfigured ACLs which prohibit the listing of those folders but allow to read ad write to them. How should I check this ACLs? which tools do I need for this task?

  Is it possible for a fairly experienced Java Developer to transition to being a Web Developer and then to Web Designer. I guess what I'm asking is - assume you have (Java) developer of above average aptitute - is it possible for that developer to acquire web development skills that will enable him/her to develop small business websites without the need to hire outside skills. If so, where does one start on the path to becoming a Web Developer/Designer? Skills required? Tools used?
