  I am trying to create a form for my companies intraNet site. The idea is as follows: An employee wants to make a purchase, so they will go to the appropriate page in the intraNet They will fill out the form on the intraNet page They click the email button The data in the form is saved in a database, and an email is sent to me stating that there is purchase order request form filled out I am not exactly sure how to go about this. Part of me wants to create it in a Data Access Page but I am not sure that's correct. If there is no one here who can help, is there anyone who can direct me to someone/something that can help me?

• FTP client says directory permissions are 0000

  I encountered a problem that appears to be related to permissions (same as this one). When I looked at the permissions of various directories in FireFTP, they all were 0000, which is obviously nonsense, since all the other pages are served without any problems. I only have ftp access, and I think it’s a Windows server (The header says "Server: Microsoft-IIS/7.5"). I’ve tried a different ftp client, with the same result. Changing the permissions results in a "'SITE CHMOD 764 [directory]': command not understood" error. A search on Google and SO for "permissions windows 0000" and similar queries didn’t turn up anything. How can I view and change the actual permissions?

• I want to combine the databases from two different sites under one URL. How is this possible?

  I have a small site that I want to merge with a bigger one. How can I merge the second one with the first? I know that one solution would be to make the smaller one a subdomain of the bigger one, but I would like the following thing to happen: when I click on a category or a tag, posts from both sites/databases would appear. Something like Smashing Magazine did when it assimilated designinformer.com. The other solution and the one that I would prefer would be to merge the two databases, but I don't know if this is possible.

• Sound issues in 14.04

  After upgrading from 13.10 to 14.04 my sound was lost. I've tried several suggestions from this site (and other helpers) without success. My dual (UBUNTU/WINDOWS) Desktop sound works fine in windows. My DELL Inspiration laptop sound works fine in UBUNTU 14.04 LTS. Does anybody know which is actually the origin of the problem? Is there any solution diferent to essay-error methodology? Isn't every newer version of UBUNTU enough double checked before releasing it?

• SFx Server Did Not Reply

  have the following problem : For a project I've tentatively created a Silverlight 5 web application and successfully integrated a WCF service. So far so good , in the Visual Studio 2012 environment everything works as intended. The data is processed. Now I wanted to see if it all works well on IIS 7.5 . When I called the test page and spoke to the WCF service Error 405 - Method not allowed occures. After searching I solved the problem with a module allocation for *.svc .                       So, then comes the error 405 although no longer , and the service also reports the status 200 - OK . Unfortunately, the application still does not work . Now this error is reported in Silverlight : The server doenst reply a meaningful response , which may be caused by a non- matching agreement , a premature session shutdown or an internal server error . No idea what I must adjust or change now. Have read on one of the few sites on the topic that is ClientConfig blame, as they would continue as a reference for the *.xap file is valid after publishing , and not used WebConfig ... But according to the error message above, it seems to be problem in the ServiceModel.dll ... Please , can anyone help me resolve this error? Thank you, Roland I uploaded my project. • Sharing a session between vBulletin forum and status.net microblogging platform

  Hello, I need to integrate vBulletin 4.0.3 Publishing Suite with status.net microblogging platform. The first thing I need to do is make these 2 to share 1 session so a user logged in vBulletin forums will also be logged in to status.net and vice versa. I have installed different vBulletin components under different subdomains: forums.sample.com - vBulletin forums blogs.sample.com - vBulletin blogs sample.com - vBulletin content management All of these point to the same place (.../public_html/index.php) which includes the respective php file (content.php for sample.com | blog.php for blogs.sample.com | forum.php for forums.sample.com) depending on the $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'] I have configured vBulletin to use a single cookie.domain (.sample.com) for all of these 3 domains so visiting different domains doesn't break the session. I also have status.sample.com, which is the subdomain where status.net is installed. The subdomain configuration is different so the document_root is actually a subfolder (.../public_html/status/) in sample.com Now, can you please give me some pointers on how to make all these subdomains share a single session? I'm not sure if it helps, but as I understand, status.net does no custom session handling by default, but it is possible to turn it on so it will start storing session data in a database table called "session".   I've been working on a little Silverlight utility which calls a Silverlight web service. It works from my dev machine (XPsp2). I've tried publishing it to a 2008 R2 IIS 7.5 server and it doesn't work when trying to contact the web service. So I've tried using the WcfTestClient to connect to the web service. • Open source Java CMS for Google App Engine?

  I am looking for an open source Java CMS (Web CMS, actually) to run on Google App Engine. I have looked at related older questions on this topic (What CMS runs on Google AppEngine?, CMS over Google App Engine, with SEO etc.) but the problem is that they all largely list Python-based CMSes. Plus these questions are pretty old, and since GAE is a fast-moving target, I thought it might be worthwhile to ask again. I want a CMS for creating some websites (for myself and for others), but would rather not start writing one from scratch. A "good" (very subjective, I know) open source WCMS allows me to start using a product, while still being able to add to/extend the product/project. On the one hand I am looking for a somewhat mature product/project, on the other hand it's easier to start contributing to the development cycle of a young product/project (conflicting, I know :-). Here are some features that would be preferable: [X]HTML/XML/CSS based templating Ability to create multiple blogs Galleries Ability to create a "Downloads" section (is this pretty much standard?) Separate management for digital assets (images, PDFs, binary files etc.) Roles like "Administrator", "Editor", "Contributor" etc. (or their equivalents) Ability to move/reorganize pages Export to PDF Reformat content for printing Is the CMS you are about to suggest especially well-suited to publishing an online book? My idea is that while the book may be offered as a downloadable eBook, the latest, most current version will be the one available on the website.

• How to change TestNG dataProvider order

  Hi, I am running hundreds of tests against a large publishing system and would like to paralellize the tests using TestNG. However, I cannot find any easy way of doing this. Each test case instanciates an instance of this publisher, send some messages, wait for those messages to be published, then dump out the contents of the publish queues and compare against expected outcome. Doing this with so many tests (even if I paralellize using threads, still takes a very long time to complete (1 day or more)). We've found that in testing this sort of system, it's best to start up system once, run all tests to send their messages, wait for publish to do its thing, dump all outputs, and match outputs with tests and verify. For example, instead of the following: @Test public void testRule1() { Publisher pub = new Publisher(); pub.sendRule(new Rule("test1-a")); sleep(10); // wait 10 seconds pub.dumpRules(); verifyRule("test1-a"); } We wanted to do something like the following: @Test public void testRule1(bool sendMode) { if(sendMode) { this.pub.sendRule(new Rule("test1-a")); } else { verifyRule("test1-a"); } } Where you have a dataProvider run through all the tests with sendMode = true and then perform dumpAllRules() followed by running through all of the tests again with sendMode = false. The problem is, TestNG calls the same method twice, once with sendMode = true followed by sendMode = false. Is there anyway to accomplish this in TestNG? Thanks!

• App crashes only after second execution only in Release configuration

  Hey all, i know this is probably not an easy question to answer, as it's hard to describe on my hand. I have an app that runs without problems on the device in Debug Configuration (also multiple times). Once I put it into Release Configuration (which I need before publishing?), the app starts without problems and I can proceed to the next page, where I show an core-plot graph. BUT only if I run it from xcode. As soon as I end the App and start it again, it opens without problems, but on the next page, it crashes. • AjaxControlToolkit TabContainer with weird rendering behavior

  I've built a web application that contains a page that uses the AjaxControlToolkit's TabContainer/TabPanel objects. I've developed a custom stylesheet, as well. I'm developing using Visual Studio 2010. The following is the behavior of my application: VS2010 Development Server (localhost:XXXXX): Works as expected with the custom stylesheet. Local IIS: The TabContainer rendered but the stylesheet wasn't applied. I fixed this by doing a CTRL+F5. It seems that IIS caches stylesheets pretty aggressively. Remote Server: The TabContainer and TabPanel are completely hidden. Looking at the HTML, all of them have their visibility set to hidden. The way I got my files onto my remote server were as follows (I haven't yet set up WebDAV or remote publishing because the server is a Windows 7 box and as far as I am aware does not support FrontPage Extensions): The entire solution is under source code control (SVN). Checked in all pending changes (including projects, aspx files, css, AjaxControlToolkit binaries) Synced on the server. Rebuilt everything on server. Deployed to local IIS on server (which is externally accessible). Both on the local IIS on the server and the development server on the server, the TabContainers are completely hidden. Looking at the SVN status on the server project, only the "AjaxControlToolkit.dll" is under source-code control. All the locale-specific DLLs are not on the server. Could this be a potential issue? I'm not sure what's going on and would appreciate any help. Thanks!

• Does RabbitMq do round-robin from the exchange to the queues

  Hi, I am currently evaluating message queue systems and RabbitMq seems like a good candidate, so I'm digging a little more into it. To give a little context I'm looking to have something like one exchange load balancing the message publishing to multiple queues. I don't want to replicate the messages, so a fanout exchange is not an option. Also the reason I'm thinking of having multiple queues vs one queue handling the round-robin w/ the consumers, is that I don't want our single point of failure to be at the queue level. Sounds like I could add some logic on the publisher side to simulate that behavior by editing the routing key and having the appropriate bindings in place. But that's kind of a passive approach that wouldn't take the pace of the message consumption on each queue into account, potentially leading to fill up one queue if the consumer applications for that queue are dead. I was looking for a more pro-active way from the exchange entity side, that would decide where to send the next message based on each queue size or something of that nature. I read about Alice and the available RESTful APIs but that seems kind of a heavy duty solution to implement fast routing decisions. Anyone knows if round-robin between the exchange the queues is feasible w/ RabbitMQ then? Thanks.

  I am trying to host my site that uses DotNetOpenAuth (OpenID) behind ISA 2006 (reverse proxy), and after it authenticated with a provider (such as Google), and it returns with a URL with %253A in the URL. However, ISA HTTP filter rejects the request. What I need to do is, on ISA web publishing rule, right click config HTTP policy properties uncheck "Verify Normalization" and it worked. Is this a problem on ISA 2006 generally? Are other firewalls having similar problems? Or, is it an OpenID or DotNetOpenAuth issue? Is it safe to disable Normalization checking on ISA? According to MSDN, quote "Web servers receive requests that are URL encoded. This means that certain characters may be replaced with a percent sign (%) followed by a particular number. For example, %20 corresponds to a space, so a request for http://myserver/My%20Dir/My%20File.htm is the same as a request for http://myserver/My Dir/My File.htm. Normalization is the process of decoding URL-encoded requests. Because the % can be URL encoded, an attacker can submit a carefully crafted request to a server that is basically double-encoded. If this occurs, Internet Information Services (IIS) may accept a request that it would otherwise reject as not valid. When you select Verify Normalization, the HTTP filter normalizes the URL two times. If the URL after the first normalization is different from the URL after the second normalization, the filter rejects the request. This prevents attacks that rely on double-encoded requests. Note that while we recommend that you use the Verify Normalization function, it may also block legitimate requests that contain a %."

• CS Master's Degree Project vs. Thesis options

  I'm doing a master's degree in computer science, and I'm currently at the point where I have to decide between the thesis and non-thesis options offered by my university. The thesis option was my first choice, it entails taking less courses but tends to take more time doing your thesis. The non-thesis option involves taking more coursework, taking a comprehensive exam, and doing a project in one semester with a faculty member. I'd like to pursue a PhD degree eventually (although not right away, I want to get some years of professional experience first), and I heard that having demonstrated the ability to work on a thesis helps a lot with admission (like: not doing thesis raises questions and suggests not being interested in research) and that the experience itself is very good. At the same time, almost everyone I know who did a thesis at my university took a long time (2-3 years), in theory it could be done in 1.5 years. I'm a part time student and I don't really want to spend so much time just getting a master's degree, I could still publish a few papers while working on the project option and I'd be done in a year or so, additionally, I heard having a master's degree with a project and more coursework is more desirable for the industry. So, when applying for a PhD degree in CS at some of the better universities, would the time spent working on the master's thesis help in getting me accepted? Or should I opt for the non-thesis option and hope that the extra coursework and publishing some papers would make up for not working on a thesis?

  I have a wcf Service application in VS2010.My local machine is a 32 bit OS where as the server is a 64 bit. There are around 6 services in my solution. Im successfully able to host the application on IIS on my local machine.And it works fine. But when i try host that service application on Server i gets the below error Could not load file or assembly 'GMap.NET.Core' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format. I do have reference added in my solution for GMap.NET.Core . I have tried to set the properties in my solution to Any CPU . Also in the application pool i have set the Enable 32-Bit Application to True. i have also set the Copy Local to TRUE in my solution before publishing. When i run the source on through my solution i dont get any error and the solution is built successfully. What else can i try to get my services successfully hosted on the Server and should be accessed through my application.

  Hi, first of all - I am quite new to iPhone App development (3 months). I am working for a software company that offers a content management system. Our customers are for the main part publishing houses for magazines. They use our software to write articles to their homepages. Now we want to offer iPhone Applications to go with our cms. What I have accomplished so far is an RSS reader that shows newly published articles in a list view. The user selects one article and is redirected to a specially formatted detail view of this article. The next step is to add offline reading capabilities. I have searched the internet up and down but couldn't find anything like a best practice for that. I get it that there are two possibilities in general: Store the contents of the uiwebview locally on the iPhone/iPad (including css, images, js and so on). There would be the need to rework the basic html to use the downloaded css, images and js. Also I would have to somehow edit hyperlinks to following pages in multipage articles - Sounds like a lot of work ;) Create a PDF on the server side and download that to the mobile device. Rework the RSS Source to point to the locally saved pdf instead of the website on the server. My question is - what is the better way to go? Are there any downsides for either of the possibilities? Are there other (simple ;)) ways to implement offline reading features? Are there possibly any howto's that I could've missed? Thanks y'all!
