  • asp.net 4.0 web forms routing - default/wildcard route

    I there a simple way when using ASP.NET 4.0 routing with Web Forms to produce a route that will act as some kind of wildcard? It seems to me that within WebForms, you have to specify a route for every page - I am looking for some kind of generic route that can be used where nothing specific is required, perhaps mapping directly from path to path so... http://somedomain.com/folder1/folder2/page would possibly map to folder1/folder2/page.aspx Any suggestions?   • visual j# not working in .net 4

    I tried to convert a project that relies on the vjs runtime to vs2010, but it errors out when trying to run. It's giving the error that "Could not load file or assembly 'vjslib' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format." I reinstalled the vjs runtime, but it didn't seem to help. Is there any way to get get .net 4 to work with this? Thanks!

    Is there a way of running an ASP.NET website in a subfolder of the website? As an example, say I wanted to run the screwturn wiki (http://www.screwturn.eu/) in a folder called "wiki" on my website, can I alter the web.config of the screwturn website to tell it that it is running in the "wiki" folder? (like saying that "~/" = "/wiki/") The wiki would then find its assemblies that are in "~/bin" in "/wiki/bin" and the same for all other folders below the new root.

    Right google isn't helping me on this one. I need to open a second browser window or tab, but it must have a different session id. Opening the new browser window from my asp.net page is easy, but then it shares the same cookie and thus session ID with the original. So how can I do this? I need the original browser window to keep its cookies and session and the new browser window to have a new session.

    I have a complex URL rewriting scheme which breaks the built in Forms Authentication ReturnUrl mechanism. I would like to grab the requested URL for later redirection away from my login.aspx. I can get this URL in Application_BeginRequest via HttpContext.Current.Request.AppRelativeCurrentExecutionFilePath. However, Session state is not available in Application_BeginRequest. How can I store this URL prior to ASP.NET redirecting me to login.aspx?

    We have developed an ASP.NET website on a Windows 7 - 32 bit platform using Visual Studio 2008. This website is being hosted at a hosting company where we share a server with hundreds of other ASP.NET websites. We are in the process of changing our hosting to a dedicated Windows 2008 - 64 bit server. We have installed Visual Studio on this new server in order to debug our application. If we try to start the application on this new server using Visual Studios 2008's own web server (not IIS 7) we get the error below. We have tried to compile the application in both 32 as well as 64 bit mode. We also tried to compile to "Any CPU". But nothing helps.
