• System.Web.HttpException in asp.net mvc 2 on images and javascript files

  Hi I am getting the following errors reported by ELMAH on my asp.net mvc 2 site for javascript files, images etc. System.Web.HttpException: The remote host closed the connection I have done some research and it appears that the user/bot is clicking a link on the site before the page has fully loaded. Now this error never occurs on a controller action but always on a file that is on disk. e.g. /Content/CmsImages/logo.png /Content/CmsImages/MemberImages/Photo-001605.jpg /Content/jquery.tickertype.js So this means that all static files are being routed through the mvc pipeline. What options do I have?

  I'm using the Zend Frameworker 1.12. According to the help file, I used the Zend_Db_Statement to execute my sql. • Cucumber works on Eclipse but not on Jenkins

  I am successfully running Cucumber test on my java/maven eclipse project. But when I add my project do Jenkins I always get the following error "cucumber.runtime.CucumberException: No features found at []". I read in this thread Setting cucumber-jvm options in Maven from the command line that: ...tests are running in separate JVM, so you need to specify that system property in the test plugin configuration (i.e. surefire or failsafe plugin config in your pom.xml) But I am not quite sure how to do this. Can anyone help me? PS: I am using "cucumber-java" and "cucumber-junit" dependencies.

But in my case the field is not required, but if filled then the Mime type needs to be checked. How do I edit this function to work with non required fields? what's wrong with it? Thanks

• Developing "Command Line" in .NET?

  Imagine a "search box" on the right top side of the UI Windows Application. When user types a desired action, a matching functionality is executed. Screen gets opened, or action gets performed. For example: user types "create" and intellisence offered next word options "client"/"product", user picks "client", and "Create New Client" screen opens up. So what I am looking for if there is a framework support for this. I assume that framework shall bind together text commands names, commands and show in intellisense. Same framework possibly could have been used in alternative "Command Line interface". I recall Microsoft had some recent framework that helps to setup "command Line Interface" environmental. It is hard to search on web for this keywords, so relying on intelligent help from you guys. Thanks in advance.

  I am putting my php /mysql website up and this is my scenario The users are grouped into sites each site with their own unique database. There will be about 40 users per site. the two options I'm trying to decide between are have a central website running the php and directing the users off to their own database using sub domains for each user each with their own php in htdocs I dont even know if 2 is possible/stupid but if it was, would it make any difference to performance as they're all being run by the same server. Any other ideas/ advice much appreciated as I want to organise it the best way from the start

  Hey guys, I'm using a ldap server to store phonerecords. I want to select a record with a specific telnumber. So this is what I'm doing: LdapSearchResults lsc = _conn.Search(dnForPhonebook, 1, "(&(objectClass=*)(uid=" + id + "))", null, false); I'm using novell library for ldap commands. The options i need to give in for the Search command are the dn to the node "phonebook" (string), scope (int), filter (string), attrrs (string[]) and typesOnly (bool). As you can see, for the filter, i'm pasting the parameter as string in de stringfilter. I was wondering, does ldap have the same way of work as mysql or sql server, which can work with paramaters? • My site not directing links correctly.

  I have a site at http://badassmonkeys.com/ and when i click any of the links it does not direct it to the actual page but still pulls up the link. For some reason it works perfectly on linux cpanel and actually loads the pages, but on windows in apache, or in IIS even with a rewrite mod for it, it just doesnt work. The links dont go correctly. Is it a php.ini setting? This is my htaccess file if curious, but it works perfect in linux, but not on windows.... • StringConverter with StandardValuesSupported and Autocompletion

  I want to develop a StringConverter with standard values, which after attaching it to a PropertyGrid will act like comboBox with autocompletion. The example below will give me a comboBox, but without the autocompletion - user have to expand it and choose manually one of the items. • Remote DocumentRoot in Apache gives a 404

  I have the following specified in my httpd.conf, but I get a 404 when attempting to connect to the server from another machine. If I set the docroot to the default htdocs directory, everything works fine. (note.. • SqlServer2008 + expensive union

  Hi al, we have 5 tables over which we should query with user search input throughout a stored procedure. We do a union of the similar data inside a view. Because of this the view can not be materialized. We are not able to change these 5 tables drastically (like creating a 6th table that contains the similar data of the 5 tables and reference that new one from the 5 tables). The query is rather expensive / slow what are our other options? It's allowed to think outside the box. • Viewing, building & debugging Borland C++ Builder project in Visual Studio 2010

  I would like to use VC2010 to handle a BCB 2006 project I have. I do not want to convert the code to VC since much UI will need to be ported. I just want to be able to view build & debug from VS IDE. Viewing: I assume once I create VS projects for the native BCB code viewing will be possible, although the UI editor will not. Building: I found the "C++ Native Multi-Targeting" option of VS, although I'm not sure on what to set the different options there to (Daffodil is mentioned as helpful although I'm not sure what the added value is over existing functionality). Debugging: not sure how to do this at all from within VS. There are some stand alone console tools that convert debug info files e.g. tds2pdb (wheres the documentation link?). If anyone has experience with such a task I would thank you for any advice.

Our options: Use NHibernate to support Multiple databases and use of OO. But we concern related to NHibernate learning curve and any problem we faced. Make a generalized DAL which will continue working with Oracle using stored procedures and use tools to convert it to other databases such as SQL Server or MySql. There is a risk associated with having to support multiple database-dependent versions of a single script. Provide the software as a Service (SaaS) and maintain the way we conduct business. However there can may be clients who do not want or trust the Cloud or other SaaS business models. With this in mind, what's the best Data access layer technique?

  Hi! I have a question about sessions on ruby-on-rails. We have a several options about session storage such as cookie, active_record_store, etc.. I primarily use the cookie storage, but, there are some client which doesn't support cookie function. In that case, I have to make that client to use the "active_record_store". My rails version is 2.3.5. I found out that even though I use the active_record_store, the cookie is still available. In my situation, both session storage might be available. So, I want to make the framework to primarily use the cookie, when the cookie is available. On the other hand, the client doesn't support the cookie, secondly to use the active_record_store. I think this function requires some override to the framework, but I don't know how to do it. Do you have any idea for that? Thank you very much in advance.

• Migrate a Django project from MySQL to Oracle

  Hi, I have a Django1.1 project that works with a legacy MySQL db. I'm trying to migrate this project to Oracle (xe and 11g). We have two options for the migration: - Use SQL developer to create a migration sql script. - Use Django fixtures. The schema created with the sql script from sql developer doesn't match the schema created from syncdb. For example, Django expects TIMESTAMP columns while sql developer creates DATE columns. Using syncdb with Django fixtures could be great but when trying to load the MySQL fixtures into Oracle, after using syncdb, I'm getting: IntegrityError: ORA-00001: unique constraint (USER.SYS_C004253) violated How can I find what part create the integrity error? I want these metrics displayed on the map but then I want a link or button to view a full page description. I know that this is possible with Google Maps but I don't know a lot about Open Street Maps or other options. • Sending SMTP e-mail at a high rate in .NET

  I have a .NET service that processes a queue on a background thread and from the items in the queue sends out a large number of small e-mail messages at a very high rate (say 100 messages per second if that is even possible). Currently, I use SmtpClient.Send() but I'm afraid that it may hamper performance. Each call to Send() goes through a full cycle of opening the socket, performing the SMTP conversation (HELO, MAIL FROM, RCPT TO, DATA) and closing the socket. In pseudo code: for each message { open socket send HELO send MAIL FROM send RCPT TO send DATA close socket } I would think that the following pseudo code would be more optimal: open socket send HELO for each message { send MAIL FROM send RCPT TO send DATA } send QUIT close socket Should I be concerned about the performance of SmtpClient.Send() when sending e-mail at a high rate? What are my options for optimizing the performance?

• Can rails test speed be increased?

  Hi all, I'm a recent convert to TDD but as my codebase grows in size and complexity, I find myself waiting longer and longer periods for the framework to load every time I want to run a test. I am aware of rspec's spec_server but I'm using Test::Unit with shoulda. I tried Snailgun (http://github.com/candlerb/snailgun) but noticed very little increased in speed. I have also tried spork-testunit (http://github.com/timcharper/spork-testunit) but it's not fully compatible with my existing tests. The delay in running tests is a definite pain point and is putting me of TDD (at least with rails). Is anyone aware of any other options? thanks Sam

Now, the script would install an application on Machine_B from Machine_A, it works fine as long as you have the msi file on the local drive of the Target machine (Machine_B, in this case). • Trouble using Prototype JS

  I have three files named like: AjxDm.php db_test website.php What I am trying to do is AjxDm.php in this file I click and I am using Ajax.Request and it directed me to the db_test.php. In this file I am retrieving a value from the database and I assign the value into a dropdown. Again when I try to select one of the options in the dropdown it is direceting me to the Website.php using Ajax.Request with the dropdown selected value and retrieve data from database and display. The problem is that when I call from AjxDm.php to Db_test it works but when I select option in db_test.php it doesn't find a JavaScript function which direct me to the website.php. What can I do to make it work?

  My business layer passes all the required information to UI layer. From what I have read, in general, best practice is to send fetched data to UI layer, and to avoid passing queries like ObjectQuery. My problem with this approach is next: If I am to make a flexible business layer, then I should allow UI to sort the data anyway it requires. Fetching sorted data from database, and then resorting them in UI is kind of bad practice for me, so the only way is to somehow So what are my options?   This may be a silly question, but it may shed some light on how joins work internally. Let's say I have a large table L and a small table S (100K rows vs. 100 rows). Would there be any difference in terms of speed between the following two options?: OPTION 1: OPTION 2: --------- --------- SELECT * SELECT * FROM L INNER JOIN S FROM S INNER JOIN L ON L.id = S.id; ON L.id = S.id; Notice that the only difference is the order in which the tables are joined. I realize performance may vary between different SQL languages. If so, how would MySQL compare to Access?

• How can I make the Python logging output to be colored?

  Some time ago I saw a Mono application with colored output, probably because of it's log system, because all the messages were standardized. Now, Python has the logging module, and it let you specify a lot of options or customize it entirely, so I'm imagining that something like that would be possible too with Python, however I could not find it anywhere. Is there any way to make the Python logging module to output in color? What I want is for error messages to appear in red, for instance. Debug messages in blue or yellow, and so on. Of course this would probably only work on Linux, with compatible terminals (most modern terminals are), but I could fallback to the original logging output if color is not supported. Any ideas?
