• 'Must Override a Superclass Method' Errors after importing a project into Eclipse

  Anytime I have to re-import my projects into Eclipse (if I reinstalled Eclipse, or changed the location of the projects), almost all of my overridden methods are not formatted correctly, causing the error 'The method ?????????? must override a superclass method'. It may be noteworthy to mention this is with Android projects - for whatever reason, the method argument values are not always populated, so I have to manually populate them myself. For instance: list.setOnCreateContextMenuListener(new OnCreateContextMenuListener() { public void onCreateContextMenu(ContextMenu menu, View v, ContextMenuInfo menuInfo) { //These arguments have their correct names } }); will be initially populated like this: list.setOnCreateContextMenuListener(new OnCreateContextMenuListener() { public void onCreateContextMenu(ContextMenu arg1, View arg2, ContextMenuInfo arg3) { //This methods arguments were not automatically provided } }); The odd thing is, if I remove my code, and have Eclipse automatically recreate the method, it uses the same argument names I already had, so I don't really know where the problem is, other then it auto-formatting the method for me. This becomes quite a pain having to manually recreate ALL my overridden methods by hand. If anyone can explain why this happens or how to fix it .. I would be very happy. Maybe it is due to the way I am formatting the methods, which are inside an argument of another method?

• Database warehouse design: fact tables and dimension tables

  I am building a poor man's data warehouse using a RDBMS. I have identified the key 'attributes' to be recorded as: sex (true/false) demographic classification (A, B, C etc) place of birth date of birth weight (recorded daily): The fact that is being recorded My requirements are to be able to run 'OLAP' queries that allow me to: 'slice and dice' 'drill up/down' the data and generally, be able to view the data from different perspectives After reading up on this topic area, the general consensus seems to be that this is best implemented using dimension tables rather than normalized tables. Assuming that this assertion is true (i.e. the solution is best implemented using fact and dimension tables), I would like to seek some help in the design of these tables. 'Natural' (or obvious) dimensions are: Date dimension Geographical location Which have hierarchical attributes. However, I am struggling with how to model the following fields: sex (true/false) demographic classification (A, B, C etc) The reason I am struggling with these fields is that: They have no obvious hierarchical attributes which will aid aggregation (AFAIA) - which suggest they should be in a fact table They are mostly static or very rarely change - which suggests they should be in a dimension table. Maybe the heuristic I am using above is too crude? I will give some examples on the type of analysis I would like to carryout on the data warehouse - hopefully that will clarify things further. I would like to aggregate and analyze the data by sex and demographic classification - e.g. answer questions like: How does male and female weights compare across different demographic classifications? Which demographic classification (male AND female), show the most increase in weight this quarter. etc. Can anyone clarify whether sex and demographic classification are part of the fact table, or whether they are (as I suspect) dimension tables.? Also assuming they are dimension tables, could someone elaborate on the table structures (i.e. the fields)? The 'obvious' schema: CREATE TABLE sex_type (is_male int); CREATE TABLE demographic_category (id int, name varchar(4)); may not be the correct one.

• How to let m2eclipse use nexus repositories instead of maven one

  I have this situation: An artifact in maven local repo that I don't want to use anymore. Instead, I want it to be downloaded by maven from proxied nexus remote repository. It's a typical situation cause a lot of artifacts are called just name-SNAPSHOT and the artifact is changing but the name is still the same. Eclipse with m2eclipse is running. I delete the entire directory of the artifact in local maven repo m2eclipse "Reindex local maven repository" - which creates a new nexus index for local maven repo I guess Project - maven Update Dependencies - now m2eclipse should run maven, which doesn't see the artifact in local maven repo, so it uses nexus repositories to download it (expected behavior) Instead, the directory structure in maven local repo is recreated and there is this file: "m2e-lastUpdated.properties" with following inside: local|http\://nexus\:8082/nexus-webapp-1.6.0/content/groups/public|javadoc=1274399332215 local|http\://nexus\:8082/nexus-webapp-1.6.0/content/groups/public|sources=1274399332161 and m2eclipse says Missing artifact net.sourceforge.htmlunit:htmlunit:jar:2.8-SNAPSHOT:compile even though the artifact physically exists here: nexus:8082/nexus-webapp-1.6.0/content/repositories/htmlunit-snapshot/net/sourceforge/htmlunit/htmlunit/2.8-SNAPSHOT/htmlunit-2.8-SNAPSHOT.jar Maven just doesn't use this location at all. Trust me I tried everything, this m2eclipse behavior is terrible.

• Duration of Excessive GC Time in "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: GC overhead limit exceeded"

  Occasionally, somewhere between once every 2 days to once every 2 weeks, my application crashes in a seemingly random location in the code with: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: GC overhead limit exceeded. If I google this error I come to this SO question and that lead me to this piece of sun documentation which expains: The parallel collector will throw an OutOfMemoryError if too much time is being spent in garbage collection: if more than 98% of the total time is spent in garbage collection and less than 2% of the heap is recovered, an OutOfMemoryError will be thrown. This feature is designed to prevent applications from running for an extended period of time while making little or no progress because the heap is too small. If necessary, this feature can be disabled by adding the option -XX:-UseGCOverheadLimit to the command line. Which tells me that my application is apparently spending 98% of the total time in garbage collection to recover only 2% of the heap. But 98% of what time? 98% of the entire two weeks the application has been running? 98% of the last millisecond? I'm trying to determine a best approach to actually solving this issue rather than just using -XX:-UseGCOverheadLimit but I feel a need to better understand the issue I'm solving.

• Sending a byte array from PHP to WCF problem

  Hi I have this problem: I have to send a byte array (encoded photo) from my PHP client to the WCF host. when I do a var_dump() on my array in PHP I get an array[2839] which is ok but on the server side when i debug I see that received array is only byte[5]...any idea how I can fix it? • GPS on emulator doesn't get the geo fix - Android

  Hi I'm developing an application for the android OS, I'm just starting, but I can't get the GPS on the emulator to work. I've read on the internet that you need to send a geo fix to the emulator in order to enable the gps locationProvider. • Is it possible to handle User Defined Exception using JAX WS Dispatch API ?

  Hello, I'm performing dynamic webservices call using following code snippet: JAXBContext jc = getJAXBContext(requestClass, responseClass, jaxbContextExtraClasses); Dispatch<Object> dispatch = service.createDispatch(portQName, jc, Service.Mode.PAYLOAD); Object requestValue = getRequestValue(requestClass, pOrderedParameters); JAXBElement<?> request = new JAXBElement(new QName(serviceQNameStr, pOperationName), requestValue.getClass(), null, requestValue); Object tmpResponse = dispatch.invoke(request); Invocation works perfectly, except if I add a user defined exception on the service (a basic UserException extends java.lang.Exception). First I get: javax.xml.bind.UnmarshalException: unexpected element (uri:"http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/", local:"Fault"). Expected elements are <{http://my.namespace/}myMethod,<{http://my.namespace/}myResponse Then I added the UserException_Exception JAX-WS generated type to my JAXB Context, and then get: Caused by: com.sun.xml.bind.v2.runtime.IllegalAnnotationsException: 1 counts of IllegalAnnotationExceptions java.lang.StackTraceElement does not have a no-arg default constructor. this problem is related to the following location: at java.lang.StackTraceElement at public java.lang.StackTraceElement[] java.lang.Throwable.getStackTrace() at java.lang.Throwable at java.lang.Exception Only solution available I found are: dispatch directly a Soap message and handle Soap fault directly (this is the way Jboss JAX-WS implementation performs a standard JAX-WS call using services interfaces). This is not an available solution for me, I want to use a high level implementation (the more I get close to Soap message the less dynamic my code can be) usage of JAXBRIContext.ANNOTATION_READER, which is implementation specific and not an available solution for me, in order to annotate annotates java.lang.Exception as @XmlTransient The service with a user defined exception performs well using the JAX-WS generated standard client stubs and using a tool such Soap UI. Problem occurs in deserialization of the message when I have no user defined exception artifact in the JAXB context, and during invocation when I add those non JAXB compatible artifacts in the JAXB context. I'm usign Jboss WS webservice stack within Jboss 4.2.3.GA Any elegant solution to this problem is welcomed !

  I have a problem getting Mercurial to recognise my editor. I have a file, c:\windows\notepad.exe and typing "notepad" at the command prompt works. I can commit by using the "-m" argument to supply the commit title. But a simple "hg commit" brings up the error. • Variable-width inline underline effects in CSS

  I need to simulate the look of a typical paper form in CSS. It consists of a two-column table of fields. Each field consists of a field name (of variable width) followed by an underline that continues to the end of the column. The field might be populated, in which case there is some text centered above the line, or it may be blank. If that isn't clear, he's a rough idea in manky ASCII art: Name: _______Foo_______ Age: _____17______ Location: __Melbourne__ Handedness: _Left_ (except that the underline would continue under any text) To implement the underline without text, I assume I should use a border-bottom rather than a text-decoration: underline. Additionally, I need the bordered element to take up the full available space. Both of those argue for a block-level element. However, I can't find any way to get the block level element (either a div, an li, or a span set to display: block or inline-block) to remain on the same line as the label. As soon as I give it a width: 100%, it newlines. I've tried various combinations of floats, and I'm not inclined to do anything ridiculous with absolute positioning. Any recommendations?

  I have added Private Frameworks To my project. When I build in DEVICE | RELEASE everything works fine and I am able to ldid -S the application and it successfully launches on my device. However, when trying to BUILD AND GO in Simulator, I get the error "No such file or directory" as indicated below: (I also get the error twice which is strange too.) • Error when instantiating .NET/COM interop class via classic ASP

  Hi all, I am having a problem when trying to instantiate a C# .NET class that's been exposed to COM in a classic ASP application. I've used tlbexp to generate a typelib and registered it in Component Services; now when trying to create the object as such: Server.CreateObject("The.Class.Name") I am getting the error: Server object error 'ASP 0177 : 80131534' Server.CreateObject Failed I've searched around online for information on this error, and found numerous discussions but no solution. The error code 0x80131534 apparently means "COR_E_TYPEINITIALIZATION, a type failed to initialize", which would suggest the problem would be in the constructor. The constructor of the class in question sets a private field to an instance of another class from the same assembly, and then reads some configuration settings from an XML file. This behaviour is unit tested and I've checked that the file exists; I can't see anything else that could be breaking in there. A few other points which may or may not be of use: A test .NET project referencing the DLL can instantiate the class just fine; however a test VB6 project referencing the TLB blows up with the same error. Both the DLL and the TLB are in the same location. This application is running locally, on Windows XP Professional SP3 and IIS 5.1. The .NET assembly is built with .NET Framework 2.0, although 3.5 is installed on the machine. I know other people who don't get this error on their builds, so I believe it may be something environmental. Any suggestions are welcome as I've been struggling to fix this for some time. • Windows system monitoring and profiling

  I have several dozen 64-bit Windows 2003 servers in a high performance environment with very bursty system utilization. I am looking for a tool (or tools) to monitor and analyze system performance (eg, CPU utilization, bandwidth, etc). This tool can either query servers from a central location (SNMP) or require installation of a component on each server. It should poll on a 1-second interval. It should be able to generate pretty graphs which show trends over time. As a nice-to-have, it should be able to send out emails or IMs when certain thresholds are exceeded. The tools I have investigated so far, including Solarwinds and PRTG, are not designed to poll this frequently. They seem to be designed for a ~30-second interval. Solarwinds wouldn't go lower than 3-sec, and PRTG chokes at 1-sec. They both default to 1-min. All three tools seem more focused on outage monitoring and reporting than metric collection. Given the bursty nature of our applications, such infrequent polling would result in a very inaccurate picture of performance. I am considering rolling my own solution using perfmon. This would be a lot of work, and seems like reinventing the wheel. Are there any tools out there that meet my needs?

• Cannot connect Linux XAMPP PHP to SQL Server database.

  I've searched many sites without success. I'm using XAMPP 1.7.3a on Ubuntu 9.1. I have used the methods found at http://www.webcheatsheet.com/PHP/connect_mssql_database.php, they all fail. I am able to "connect" with a linked database through MS Access, however, that is not an acceptable solution as not all users will have Access. The first method (at webcheatsheet) uses mssql_connect, et.al. but I get this error from the mssql_connect() call: Warning: mssql_connect() [function.mssql-connect]: Unable to connect to server: [my server] in [my code] [my server] is the server address, I have used both the host name and the IP address. [my code] is a reference to the file and line number in my .php file. Is there a log file somewhere that would have more information about the failure, both on my machine and SQL Server? We do not have a bona-fide DBA, so I will need specific information to pass on if the issue seems to be on the server side. All assistance is appreciated, including RTFM when the location of the M is provided! Thanks

• Remote DLL Registration without access to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT

  We have a legacy VB6 application that updates itself on startup by pulling down the latest files and registering the COM components. This works for both local (regsvr32) ActiveX COM Components and remote (clireg32) ActiveX COM components registered in COM+ on another machine. New requirements are preventing us from writing to HKEY_LOACL_MACHINE (HKLM) for security reasons, which is what obviously happens by default when calling regsvr32 and clireg32. We have come up with an way to register the local COM componet under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes (HKCU) using the RegOverridePredefKey Windows API method. This works by redirecting the inserts into the registry to the HKCU location. Then when the COM components are instantiated, windows first looks to HKCU before looking for component information in HKLM. This replaces what regsvr32 is doing. The problem we are experiencing at this time is when we attempt to register VBR / TLB using clireg32, this registration process also adds registration keys to HKEY_LOACL_MACHINE. Is there a way to redirect clireg32.exe to register component is HKEY_CURRENT_USER? Are there any other methods that would allow us to register these COM+ components on clients machine with limited security access? Our only solution at this time would be to manually write the registration information to the registry, but that is not ideal and would be a maint issue.

  Had a gentleman answer 90% of my original question, which is to say I now have the ability to poll a device that I am running the below script on. The end goal is to obtain IP type: Static or DHCP on all desktop/servers on a network I support. • How to connect to a queue manager with ssl enabled server connection channel when authentication is

  I am trying to write a java application connecting to server connection channel with SSL enabled. So far, I have been successfully connected to the channel by setting authentication to 'optional'. However, when I set it to be 'required', the connection fails. Here is what I did: Create key db for queue manager and keystore for the java client user. Create key/self-signed certificates for the queue manager and the client user, with names prefixed ibmwebspheremq. Export, exchange and import certificates for the queue manager and the client. (I did answered 'yes' when being asked whether I trust the queue manager cert). The location and password to the truststore and keystore are set to point to the same keystore at the client side, where the orgininal created client user key and the imported queue manager key are. With other settings being the same, if I switch back to 'optional' authentication, the connection works. I think there is something I understand incorrectly about this ssl authenticaion but cannot figure out what. Could someone kindly help me?

• Where should 'CreateMap' statements go?

  I frequently use AutoMapper to map Model (Domain) objects to ViewModel objects, which are then consumed by my Views, in a Model/View/View-Model pattern. This involves many 'Mapper.CreateMap' statements, which all must be executed, but must only be executed once in the lifecycle of the application. Technically, then, I should keep them all in a static method somewhere, which gets called from my Application_Start() method (this is an ASP.NET MVC application). However, it seems wrong to group a lot of different mapping concerns together in one central location. Especially when mapping code gets complex and involves formatting and other logic. Is there a better way to organize the mapping code so that it's kept close to the ViewModel that it concerns? (I came up with one idea - having a 'CreateMappings' method on each ViewModel, and in the BaseViewModel, calling this method on instantiation. However, since the method should only be called once in the application lifecycle, it needs some additional logic to cache a list of ViewModel types for which the CreateMappings method has been called, and then only call it when necessary, for ViewModels that aren't in that list.)

  I have been using my website (ASP.NET MVC) in visual studio but now I want to host it on my server. I published from visual studio onto the network share to be used. The server is running Windows Home Server, IIS 6 and SQL Server 2008 R2 (express). In Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, I've attached the database and made sure that the user IUSR_SERVER is owner of the db. I also made sure that the user Network Service has access. The Web Site is configured in IIS to run anonymously as IUSR_SERVER. I have granted write and read access to IUSR_SERVER as well as Network Service and made sure that nothing is read only. The web.config has this connectionstring: <connectionStrings> <remove name="ApplicationServices" /> <add name="ApplicationServices" connectionString="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;Initial Catalog=MyDatebase" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" /> </connectionStrings> However, I cannot browse my web site. • Reference for proper handling of PID file on Unix

  Where can I find a well-respected reference that details the proper handling of PID files on Unix? On Unix operating systems, it is common practice to “lock” a program (often a daemon) by use of a special lock file: the PID file. This is a file in a predictable location, often ‘/var/run/foo.pid’. The program is supposed to check when it starts up whether the PID file exists and, if the file does exist, exit with an error. So it's a kind of advisory, collaborative locking mechanism. The file contains a single line of text, being the numeric process ID (hence the name “PID file”) of the process that currently holds the lock; this allows an easy way to automate sending a signal to the process that holds the lock. What I can't find is a good reference on expected or “best practice” behaviour for handling PID files. There are various nuances: how to actually lock the file (don't bother? use the kernel? what about platform incompatibilities?), handling stale locks (silently delete them? when to check?), when exactly to acquire and release the lock, and so forth. Where can I find a respected, most-authoritative reference (ideally on the level of W. Richard Stevens) for this small topic?
