  A single source for learning about the latest enhancements to the My Oracle Support User Interface... On January 27, 2012, we launched a new My Oracle Support HTML-based user interface (UI). The new user interface is built using Oracle’s Application Development Framework and is our first step towards providing a single online support portal for our customers and partners; one that all users will transition to in the coming months. Further enhancements to the HTML-based user interface are planned for April 13, 2012. We will transition users of the standard Flash-based interface in the coming months. • AMD 6870 Twin Frozr II video adapter issues

  Hardware: AMD 6870 Twin Frozr II (1GB), ASUS 990 chipset Software: Ubuntu 11.10 Built a new PC from scratch, loaded it with Ubuntu 11.10. It's displaying, but with poor resolution, unable to change, as it says no drivers are installed. Ubuntu indicates that there are 2 proprietary drivers available to download: ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX Graphics driver (Post-release update) ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX Graphics driver The first won't even finish downloading. The second downloads and installs, but when I restart the PC as requested it boots up, I see purple in the background, then the video feed just stops with a black screen. I can still hear ubuntu boot up though. It seems like I just need the latest drivers, googled around and not had much luck. I'm pretty new with Ubuntu, but have basic knowledge. Any potentially helpful information would be welcome.

• broadcom 43225 wireless on acer laptop is disabled

  I have a acer aspire 5820T with a broadcom 43225 wireless card. I previously used ubuntu 10.10 and the wireless worked straight away, but when I updated to 11.04 the wireless stopped working. I have managed to get the wireless hardware to switch on for a couple of seconds before turning off (When you turn the wireless on using the manual switch the wireless light stays on for a couple of seconds and in the drop down connections menu the information under wireless networks changes from 'device not ready' to 'Disconnected' but shows no wireless networks despite there being one). So far I have tried installing an additional driver, and also disabling the additional driver and installing b43-fwcutter and firmware b43 installer. There may have been other things that I've found in searches that i've tried but unfortunately I can't remember them. Any help would be appreciated.

• How many tiers should my models have in a DB driven web app?

  In my experience, the "Model" in MVC is often not really a single layer. I would regularly have "backend" models and "frontend" models, where the backend ones would have properties that I want to hide from the UI code, and the frontend ones have derived or composite properties which are more meaningful in the context of the UI. Recently, I have started to introduce a third layer in between when database normalization created tables that did not really match the conceptual domain objects anymore. In those projects I have model classes that are equivalent with the DB structure, these become components of objects that represent the domain model, and finally these are filtered and amended for displaying information to the user. Are there patterns or guidelines for how, when and why to organize the data model across application layers?

  I'm looking to use an .htaccess file to use mod_rewrite to switch the protocol from http:// to https:// when someone hits my website. For instance, once someone goes to: http://www.mywebsite.com/ I'd like the browser to switch to: http*s*://www.mywebsite.com/ The same goes for the http://mywebsite.com/ - https://mywebsite.com This is the following code I've been using and I've experienced some odd things so if anyone could provide me with information if this is the right way to do it, or if you have a better way, please provide it.   I have a website for which one month stat shows: Unique Visitors 6274 Total Visitors 7260 Pages visited 9520 Hits 88891 Whats concerns me about is the HTTP status code: 302 Moved temporarily (redirect) 36302 How come 40% hits are being redirected. • How to install wvdial without getting the following error?

  When I ran the command: sudo apt-get install wvdial I got this error message : error p@p:~$ sudo apt-get install wvdial Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Package wvdial is not available, but is referred to by another package. This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source E: Package wvdial has no installation candidate p@p:~$ So how can I install wvdial? I don't have access to internet from Ubuntu for direct installation. Please help

• HTML5 clicking objects in canvas

  I have a function in my JS that gets the user's mouse click on the canvas. Now lets say I have a random shape on my canvas (really its a PNG image which is rectangular) but i don't want to include any alpha space. My issue lies with lets say i click some where and it involves a pixel of one of the images. The first issue is how do you work out the pixel location is an object on the map (and not the grass tiles behind). Secondly if i clicked said image, if each image contains its own unique information how do you process the click to load the correct data. Note I don't use libraries I personally prefer the raw method. Relying on libraries doesn't teach me much I find.

  E-Business Suite 11.5.10 Sustaining Support Exception & 12.1 Extended Support Now to Dec. 2018 [ID 1495337.1] As part of Oracle’s continued commitment to our customers, we will be providing an exception for the first 13 months of Sustaining Support on Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11.5.10 (11i10), valid from December 1, 2013 – December 31, 2014. This exception support will be comprised of three components: (1) new fixes for Severity 1 production issues, (2) United States Form 1099 2013 year-end updates, and (3) payroll regulatory updates for the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Australia for fiscal years ending in 2014.  In addition, the Extended Support period for E-Business Suite Release 12.1 has been extended through December, 2018. Customers with an active Oracle Premier Support for Software contract will automatically be entitled to Extended Support deliverables for E-Business Suite 12.1. Please refer to the Lifetime Support section of oracle.com for further information regarding Oracle's Lifetime Support Policy for Applications. This change will be reflected in the October update to the Software Technical Support Policies.

  Java Runtime Environment 7u10 (a.k.a. JRE 1.7.0_10 build 18) and later updates on the JRE 7 codeline are now certified with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i and 12 Windows-based desktop clients. What do you need to do and where are the official patch requirements? EBS customers should ensure that they are running JRE 7u10, at minimum, on Windows desktop clients.  There are also official patch requirements to avoid compatibility issues of E-Business Suite with JRE 7.  Please refer to Steven Chan's Oracle E-Business Suite Technology blog for all the detailed information regarding this certification.

• Windows7 corrupted profile - prevention exists?

  I have dedicated Windows7 (not on domain) virtual machine for overnight automation testing. Some commands (mySQLdump, tscon.exe) must be run under administrator account. Last week administrator account's profile was corrupted. I fixed it by renaming it in the registry and logging in as administrator. And today it is corrupted again. I use administrator account only to run above commands via runas. Also the computer is restarted via cmd - shutdown command - quite often. Especially every night before automation testing starts. I checked the comp for viruses - did full scan using avast although I believed that the comp is clean. Any idea how to prevent the profile to get corrupted again? update So the first log entry in event log is today from 1.15am and one of my scripts ran runas command as administrator exactly at 1.15am. It was second time that runas war executed though after the testing started. The same happened second day in a row. Before the testing starts I need to copy one file that is locked. So I run handle.exe from runas to unlock it. That is what I think causing the profile to get corrupted. I am not able to reproduce it by myself. The message from event viewer is Windows cannot load the locally stored profile. Possible causes of this error include insufficient security rights or a corrupt local profile. DETAIL – The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

• How to control fan speed and temperatures on Asus A8Js laptop?

  I have tried installing asusfan and lm-sensors but I'm unable to control my fans to cool my laptop down sufficiently. Currently it overheats at about 100 degrees celsius and my sensors output somehow does not have any fan information on it: jackson@OLYMPIA:~$ sensors acpitz-virtual-0 Adapter: Virtual device temp1: +69.0°C (crit = +110.0°C) coretemp-isa-0000 Adapter: ISA adapter Core 0: +66.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) coretemp-isa-0001 Adapter: ISA adapter Core 1: +66.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) I have checked my bios and there isn't any fan settings there. I can consistently overheat just by converting a video via Handbrake. I have ubuntu-desktop installed for a GUI. Is there a way for me to control my fans to start spinning before it reaches a critical temperature and kills itself?

The requirements are : Company Information User Registration Order placements. The technologies that I should use are PHP, Javascript, HTML, CSS and maybe Java Servlets. This appears to me a very basic project and I need an opinion as to what effect it might have on my CV. Is it worth to do it?   I would like to ask if there is any good program for ubuntu 12.04 to organize a library of books.I have to mention that I have books written on my native language (Greek) and I have books written in other languages like English,French,etc....So basically I need an application which can fetch information from databases for Greek books.For example add a Greek (ISBN) book database source and when I type the ISBN of the book in the program to find the book from that database/es.Do you know if this is possible?I have already tried Tellico and GCstar but they were unable to find books with Greek ISBN.I tried to add a Greek book source but my wasn't successful.

• I'm getting a black screen right after Install Ubuntu option on GRUB menu. Any ideas?

  I've formatted my USB and remade the live USB twice. I tried editing editing the commands (pressing the 'e' key while the command was highlighted on the GRUB menu) by 1. deleting quiet splash and replacing it with nomodeset 2. adding nomodeset right before quiet splash 3. deleting quiet splash and adding radeon.modeset=0 I saw another solution for a fix by editing GRUB but in command line 'sudo' 'nano' and 'update-grub' all show up as unknown commands. I'm brand new to Ubuntu, in case you couldn't tell. I would appreciate any help you could give me. I want to convince my brother that Ubuntu is a better option than iOS but I can't do that if I can't install it. If you need more information, please ask. I'm not dual booting. I want this to be a full install. Thanks.

• Why do I get "No root file system is defined" when I try install in one partition?

  The thing is that I have 3 partitions on my computer. /dev/sda1 Type: ntfs (size 104MB; 35MB in use) [This is Windows Loader] /dev/sda2 Type: ntfs (size 144598MB; 64536MB in use) [Here I want to install UBUNTU] /dev/sda3 Type: ntfs (size 105353MB; 20227MB in use) [This my backup partition I don't wan't to delete anything from here, I have all my necessary information] So the problem is when I select "Device for boot loader installation" "/dev/sda2" Pops out: "No root file system is defined. Please correct this from the partitioning menu." How can I resolve this? :)
