  I have a very serious problem here in one of my client server. The remote server is installed with REDHAT ES 5.2 and we have a postgresql as database. I was trying to clone the database. The hard drive had 32 GB of free space before taking clone. I started cloning the database and during the process, there was some internet issue and due to this, putty got disconnected before taking clone. So I opened another fresh session and I was able to see only 2.5GB as available space. Also I was not able to see the clone in the psql terminal. Any solution to get the 29GB that was consumed????

• Load balancing SMTP in a way that doesn't hide the source IP address

  I need to load balance SMTP to handle some applications that don't know how to use MX records. I set up a Netscaler using the TCP option on port 25 and now Exchange sees the source IP as that of the DMZ of the Netscaler for every connection, not the client. Obviously this prevents RBLs, Whitelists, and all other IP-based reputation to fail. It also make it impossible to whitelist a trusted IP for anonymous relay. Question How should I configure the NetScaler (or Windows Load Balancing) so that I can allow load balancing yet still maintain visibility of the source IP?

• IIS7, different ports for websites but no portnumber in the browser

  I have a windows server 2008 with IIS7 with 4 websites. In DNS I have 4 different URLs which point to the IP of the server. I configured each web site with the site bindings: website1: hostname: url1, port: 80, IP-Adresse: the adress of the server website2: hostname: url2, port: 80, IP-Adresse: the adress of the server The result is, that from the client, I can browse with all the 4 URLs to the specified web sites and everything is fine. Then I changed in IIS the port of the websites, so that website1 now uses port 8080, website2 uses port 8081, and so on. Now I have to use the browser with the url and the portnumber (like URL:8080). Is there a possibility, to configured the websites with different portnumbers but not to use the portnumbers in the browser?

• Why would you ever set MaxKeepAliveRequests to anything but unlimited?

  Apache's KeepAliveTimeout exists to close a keep-alive connection if a new request is not issued within a given period of time. Provided the user does not close his browser/tab, this timeout (usually 5-15 seconds) is what eventually closes most keep-alive connections, and prevents server resources from being wasted by holding on to connections indefinitely. Now the MaxKeepAliveRequests directive puts a limit on the number of HTTP requests that a single TCP connection (left open due to KeepAlive) will serve. Setting this to 0 means an unlimited number of requests are allowed. Why would you ever set this to anything but "unlimited"? Provided a client is still actively making requests, what harm is there in letting them happen on the same keep-alive connection? Once the limit is reached, the requests still come in, just on a new connection. The way I see it, there is no point in ever limiting this. What am I missing?

• Dropbox won't connect on Ubuntu 10.10 (Waiting For Connection)

  I run Ubuntu 10.10 (2.6.35-25) on an x86 machine and try to install Dropbox by downloading the latest .deb file from the website. Now, first it will install dropbox-nautilus (requiring me to restart Nautilus before that) and then ask me to start Dropbox itself. The Dropbox client opens and indefinitely waits for a connection as there is a connection error. Of course, I don't use a proxy server and I'm writing this post from this very machine, so there's no problem with the internet connection. I'm not using a firewall (at least not that I know of, the Ubuntu installation is relatively untouched so far). Does anybody have some pointers?

• mod_proxy security

  I'm on Debian Lenny using apache2. in my proxy.conf I tried adding Allow from localhost as suggested in some other forums to get proxying to work. Didn't work. It only worked if I say Allow from all My question is this. Are there any security implications to this Allow from all directive? Most people were saying to make this as limited as possible, but "all" is the client right? I want anyone regardless of their IP to be forwarded properly. Is there a better way to configure this?

• WinSCP equivalent for Linux/Ubuntu

  I'm shifting most of my projects to a Linux machine, and one of the things that I miss is WinSCP. I've found other answers saying that nautilus, FileZilla etc. can be used for SFTP, but something that I loved about WinSCP was that it has two panes (FileZilla's got that) and I could start synchronization from any directory. Unison or Rsync could work, but I'd have to create a folder pair every time I want to sync two folders. Is there an SFTP client for Linux that has a two-paned view and allows ad-hoc synchronization? Thanks!

• Linksys WRT54Gx as Repeater Bridge

  I have a Linksys WRT54Gx router with DD-WRT software working fine. But. Is it possible to use it as a Repeater Bridge when the host router isn't configured to be in the default 192.168.1.1 subnet? I've set everything from these instructions. I've also tried setting repeater router's IP address to be inside host's subnet, setting Gateway + DNS IP addresses... But It still didn't work. Client machines connecting to second router (my Linksys) were configured to use DHCP and also static IPs within host's subnet. Nothing worked. Can anyone tell me how to configure it to make it work?

• Multi MVC processing vs Single MVC process

  I've worked fairly extensively with the MVC framework cakephp, however I'm finding that I would rather have my pages driven by the multiple MVC than by just one MVC. My reason is primarily to maintain an a more DRY principle. In CakePHP MVC: you call a URL which calls a single MVC, which then calls the layout. What I want is: you call a URL, it processes a layout, which then calls multiple MVC's per component/block of html on the page. When you compare JavaScript components, AJAX, and server side HTML rendering, it seems the most consistent method for building pages is through blocks of components or HTML views. That way, the view block could be situated either on the server or the client. This is technically my ONLY disagreement with the MVC model. Outside of this, IMHO MVC rocks! My question is: What other RAD frameworks follow the same principles as MVC but are driven rather by the View side of MVC? I've looked at Django and Ruby on Rails, yet they seems to be more Controller driven. Lift/Scala appears to be somewhat of a good fit, but i'm interested to see what others exist.

Behind his desk, he has a "spare" UTP cable, my question. Can this cable be used to replace a telephone line. This client has a internet and telephony contract, using a experiabox phone/internet modem. Any help would be great. I knowe I have to use a RJ11 plug.

• Stop yahoo from opeing in second tab when opening chrome

  I recently downloaded Vuze (torrent client), which as well as installing, installs a whole bunch of rubbish toolbars (mostly by an outfit called 'Spigot') and tries to change your default search engine to Yahoo. In Safari and Firefox, ive managed to change it back but i Chrome although ive deleted all the addons and restored my default search engine when ever i open up Chrome i get two tabs 1) my default homepage and 2) yahoo search page. Any idea were i can disable this Yahoo search page, ive looked in the settings but could find any where obvious (ive set back my default search engine to Google and deleted any add ons) but this still dosnt do it.. any ideas ? My last resort is to do a factory reset of Chrome, which i dont want to do as i have all my settings in there.

• Booting off windows image through network

  I have a HP st5742, which is a tower that does not have a hard drive and I am trying to boot it off the network, preferably off an image. It was designed along with the program HP Image Manager, however this program has been discontinued by HP and I can not seem to find a way to get a copy. If this helps, I am running my network with windows server 2008 R2 and would like the streaming client to be running windows. I have spent days searching for a way to deploy this machine however I can not seem to find a straight forward program, guide, or way to do this. I am new to this sort of thing but I willing to reading into the subject, all I need is a point in the right direction. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• TechEd 2012: Day 3 &ndash; Build Me A Solution

  While digesting my lunch it was time to digest some TFS Build information. While much of my time is spent wearing my developer’s hat I am still a jack of all trades and automated builds are an important aspect of any project.  Because of this I was looking forward to finding out what new features are available in the latest release of Team Foundation Server. The first feature that caught my attention is the TFS Admin Client.  After being used to dealing with NAnt in the past it is nice to see a build a configuration GUI that is so flexible and well thought out.  The bonus is that it the tools that are incorporated in Visual Studio 2012 are just as feature rich.  Life is good. Since automated builds are the hub of your development process in a continuous integration shop I was really interested in the process related options. The biggest value add that I noticed was merge gated check-ins.  Merge or batch gated check-ins are an interesting concept.  If the build breaks with all the changes then TFS will run separate builds for each of the check-ins.  This ability to identify the actual offending check-in can save a lot of time and gray hair. • Upgrade PHP to 5.3 in Ubuntu Server 8.04 with Plesk 9.5

  I have a dedicated server with Ubuntu 8.04, and really need to upgrade php to 5.3 version in order to deploy a new version of the system. This version of php is the default one in ubuntu 10.04, so I considered upgrading the OS, but after trying that, I lost my plesk installation, which annoyed my client. I tried adding the dotdeb.org repositories, but don't know why, after running an apt-get upgrade, I get this error: # apt-get upgrade Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done The following packages have been kept back: libapache2-mod-php5 php5 php5-cgi php5-cli php5-common php5-curl php5-gd php5-imap php5-mysql php5-sqlite php5-xsl 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 11 not upgraded. Any idea why is this happenning? Or do you know any alternative method (except compiling my own binaries) to upgrade php or update ubuntu without loosing plesk? Thanks!

  I have two laptops that both run on ubuntu and installed ssh server and ssh client on them. One is usually on my desk at home and one I usually bring to my company. When I'm at home I can easily ssh to one from the other by typing this command (to login to the other laptop whose IP address is: 192.168.0.105) : ssh -p 22 [email protected] However, When I'm at my company, I try to type the same command and ofcourse it doesn't work. I understand that when at home I'm on LAN network, that my laptops actually using my ISP's address which differ from 192.168.0.107 asummed 203.113.131.1. So could you tell me what IP that ssh shoud use for my laptop (at work) to connet to my computer at home? Thank you.

• Linking FreeNAS Boxes

  I have two different FreeNAS boxes that are being used for storage. It is possible to link them in a manner that the linked connection can be presented as a single storage destination for clients? For example, I have one FreeNAS installation that has 6 TB of storage and another one that has 4 TB of storage. I would like to be able to present or have a single mapped drive for clients that would be able to span across both of them; however, the client would only see it as one drive. Is this possible? If not, is there a different way I should be approaching this problem? Is there a different OS distribution that would work better for this?

• ASA 5510 Need to filter traffic log events to my iPhone

  For some reason I cannot update apps or download apps to any ios devices on my network (tried both iphone and ipads). When I'm at home on my own network everything works fine. This started about a week ago. I've configured my iphone with a static IP address and even used 4.2.2.2 as my dns to rule out that the issue is with my DNS Server. I'm looking at the SYSLOG in ASDM (Cisco ASA 5510) but Im not sure it is providing me enough info. It seems to be showing ACL blocks on my public ip address, but not individual client IP's, so I can't see whats going on. How can I setup a way to filter any incoming/outgoing traffic to my iPhone's static IP and try and troubleshoot this?

• How to implement Facebook leaderboard game for mobile?

  I am in the final stages of developing an indie C# mobile game that I will deploy to iPhones and Androids using Mono. I wish to add push notifications and a Facebook leader board feature into the game, such that the user will be presented with a list of all his/her friends that are playing the game and their weekly scores in the main screen. I have ZERO experience with web development/networking/databases. I recently started researching the field and formed a basic understanding. Facebook has SDKs in PHP, JavaScript, obj-c and java, tho reading the documentation examples still feels cryptic to me since it involves web/server tech. After researching some more, I understood that my options for server side are basically PHP or ASP.Net. It seems that ASP.Net is more favorable in my case since I am already proficient with C# (but there is no ASP.net SDK from Facebook... I am not sure if this implies that I cant interact with Facebook using ASP.Net). On the down side some have mentioned higher costs for ASP.Net, tho I havent looked further into that aspect yet. I also understood that JavaScript is client side technology. I started going through tutorials of ASP.Net, I was thinking that ASP.Net is a purely server side management language, but it started feeling more like WPF as those tutorials started getting into very lengthy discussions about creating website interfaces and styles. I am not interested in that, I just want to have a web server which my app can somehow communicate with and get friends/scores. Am I learning the right technologies for my goal? should I be learning something else? I am posting this in hopes that someone who knows this field well can see through my problem and help guide me, otherwise I could spend months studying something that might not be the right solution to my goal. • Any way to get P4V to work with older servers?

  I use P4V as a Perforce client. I updated to 2009.1 to get some major bug fixes, and it seems they removed the ability to connect to older clients. I do work for a few clients, and 5/6 depots I have to work with are new, but one is older (2002.2 I think). Does this mean that not only I can't get any more bug fixes because 1 of 6 servers is old, but now I'm completely locked out of that server since the older P4V clients are no longer online? I know the 2007.x version I used before works with the old servers, but I can't find it online. Please tell me I'm not SOL... The Visual Studio integration is part of the P4V package, not the P4Win package, so if something isn't fixed I might never have VS support for P4 again. Help :(

The problem that I'm getting when I try to run Server Manager is: Connecting to remote server failed with the following error message: Access is denied. • When to move into a CRM system?

  I have a client that is currently managing around 5000+ contacts via Outlook. There is also a BES Express installation in place. There are a couple problems. First, there is a corrupt contact in there somewhere that is preventing either a cabled or over the air sync of the complete list to a blackberry. The second, is that it just seems to be getting a bit unruly. They currently have a license for ACT, which I'm trying to get them to move into, but at what number does the contact list need to be at to migrate away from using Outlook/Exchange and into a real CRM solution?
