• I am not able to update form data to MySQL using PHP and jQuery

  My problem is that I am unable to update the values entered in the form. I have attached all the files. I'm using MYSQL database to fetch data. What happens is that I'm able to add and delete records from form using jQuery and PHP scripts to MYSQL database, but I am not able to update data which was retrieved from the database. The file structure is as follows: index.php is a file with jQuery functions where it displays form for adding new data to MYSQL using save.php file and list of all records are view without refreshing page (calling load-list.php to view all records from index.php works fine, and save.php to save data from form) - Delete is an function called from index.php to delete record from MySQL database (function calling delete.php works fine) - Update is an function called from index.php to update data using update-form.php by retriving specific record from MySQL table, (works fine) Problem lies in updating data from update-form.php to update.php (in which update query is written for MySQL) I have tried in many ways - at last I had figured out that data is not being transferred from update-form.php to update.php; there is a small problem in jQuery AJAX function where it is not transferring data to update.php page. Something is missing in calling update.php page it is not entering into that page. I am new bee in programming. I had collected this script from many forums and made this one. • MySQL Ratings From Two Tables

  I am using MySQL and PHP to build a data layer for a flash game. Retrieving lists of levels is pretty easy, but I've hit a roadblock in trying to fetch the level's average rating along with it's pointer information. Here is an example data set: levels Table: level_id | level_name 1 | Some Level 2 | Second Level 3 | Third Level ratings Table: rating_id | level_id | rating_value 1 | 1 | 3 2 | 1 | 4 3 | 1 | 1 4 | 2 | 3 5 | 2 | 4 6 | 2 | 1 7 | 3 | 3 8 | 3 | 4 9 | 3 | 1 I know this requires a join, but I cannot figure out how to get the average rating value based on the level_id when I request a list of levels. This is what I'm trying to do: SELECT levels.level_id, AVG(ratings.level_rating WHERE levels.level_id = ratings.level_id) FROM levels I know my SQL is flawed there, but I can't figure out how to get this concept across. The only thing I can get to work is returning a single average from the entire ratings table, which is not very useful. Ideal Output from the above conceptually valid but syntactically awry query would be: level_id | level_rating 1| 3.34 2| 1.00 3| 4.54 My main issue is I can't figure out how to use the level_id of each response row before the query has been returned. It's like I want to use a placeholder... or an alias... I really don't know and it's very frustrating. The solution I have in place now is an EPIC band-aid and will only cause me problems long term... please help!

• How to place additional access-restrictions on a subdirectory in Apache?

  We have a list of "internal" IP-addresses and only allow access to the server (Location /) from that list: <Location /> Require ip x.x.x.x Require ip y.y.y.y </Location> I need to further restrict access to a sub-directory (Location /foo) to authenticated users (Require valid-user). Whatever I do, I never get prompted for login to access /foo -- Apache simply grants me access, because my IP-address is on the list (for Location /). I cycled through all three different values of AuthMerging (off, and, or) to no avail... Must be something really stupid :-/ Using httpd-2.4.6. Thank you!

• Tidying up old apache logs managed by vlogger

  We're using vlogger to manage our apache logs which keeps everything nice and neat but pretty much breaks the ability to use logrotate from as far as I can see. eg. our virtual access.logs each sit within their own dir and are named similar to: /virtual.com/ 20100501-access.log 20100502-access.log 20100503-access.log 20100504-access.log etc.. Has anyone created a cleanup script to go through the /var/log/httpd/ sub dirs and remove old logs? We like using vlogger, but cleaning up olds logs after it is a pain!

• Raising events and object persistence in Django

  Hi, I have a tricky Django problem which didn't occur to me when I was developing it. My Django application allows a user to sign up and store his login credentials for a sites. The Django application basically allows the user to search this other site (by scraping content off it) and returns the result to the user. For each query, it does a couple of queries of the other site. This seemed to work fine but sometimes, the other site slaps me with a CAPTCHA. I've written the code to get the CAPTCHA image and I need to return this to the user so he can type it in but I don't know how. My search request (the query, the username and the password) in my Django application gets passed to a view which in turn calls the backend that does the scraping/search. When a CAPTCHA is detected, I'd like to raise a client side event or something on those lines and display the CAPTCHA to the user and wait for the user's input so that I can resume my search. I would somehow need to persist my backend object between calls. I've tried pickling it but it doesn't work because I get the Can't pickle 'lock' object error. I don't know to implement this though. Any help/ideas? Thanks a ton.

• Storing float numbers as strings in android database

  So I have an app where I put arbitrary strings in a database and later extract them like this: Cursor DBresult = myDatabase.query(false, Constant.DATABASE_NOTES_TABLE_NAME, new String[] {"myStuff"}, where, null, null, null, null, null); DBresult.getString(0); This works fine in all cases except for when the string looks like a float number, for example "221.123123123". After saving it to the database I can extract the database to my computer and look inside it with a DB-viewer, and the saved number is correct. However, when using cursor.getString() the string "221.123" is returned. I cant for the life of me understand how I can prevent this. I guess I could do a cursor.getDouble() on every single string to see if this gives a better result, but that feels sooo ugly and inefficient. Any suggestions? Cheers, edit: I just made a small test program. • Tools for analyzing performance of SQL Server/Express?

  The application that I have customized and continue to support for my client is seeing dramatic performance problems in the field. Simple queries on rather small datasets take over a minute when I would expect them to complete with sub-second times. My current theory is that SQL Server Express 2005 is too limited for the rather non-trivial demands being made of it, but I am not sure how to get about gathering data that I can use to either prove my point or allow me to move on to finding another cause. Can anyone point me toward some tools that would allow me to analyze the load on this database? Information such as simultaneous connections, execution times of individual queries, memory usage, heck just any profiling data at all would be a help. Many thanks.

  I see the rate limit is 150/hr per IP. This'd be fine, but my application is on a mobile phone network (with shared IP addresses). I'd like to query twitter trends, e.g. GET /trends/1/json. This doesn't require authorization, however what if the user first authorized with my application using OAuth, then hit the JSON API? • Oracle SQL: ROLLUP not summing correctly

  Hi guys, Rollup seems to be working correcly to count the number of units, but not the number of trains. Any idea what could be causing that? The output from the query looks like this. The sum of the Units column in yellow is 53 but the rollup is showing 51. The number of units adds up correctly though... • PDO using singleton stored as class properity

  Hi again. OOP drives me crazy. I can't move PDO to work. • Need Associated ID Added to a While Loop (php)

  Been trying to get my head around while loops for the last few days but the code seems very inefficient for what Im trying to achieve. I'm assuming I'm overcomplicating this though nothing I've tried seems to work. Each topic in my forum can have related topic IDs stored in a seperate table. A post ID is also stored in this table, as that specific post references why they are considered related. • high cpu in IIS

  Hi all. I'm developing a POS application that has a local database on each POS computer, and communicates with the server using WCF hosted in IIS. The application has been deployed in several customers for over a year now. About a week ago, we've started getting reports from one of our customers that the server that the IIS is hosted on is very slow. When I've checked the issue, I saw the application pool with my process rocket to almost 100% cpu on an 8 cpu server. I've checked the SQL Activity Monitor and network volume, and they showed no significant overload beyond what we usually see. When checking the threads in Process Explorer, I saw lots of threads repeatedly calling CreateApplicationContext. I've tried installing .Net 2.0 SP1, according to some posts I found on the net, but it didn't solve the problem and replaced the function calls with CLRCreateManagedInstance. I'm about to capture a dump using adplus and windbg of the IIS processes and try to figure out what's wrong. Has anyone encountered something like this or has an idea which directory I should check ? p.s. The same version of the application is deployed in another customer, and there it works just fine. I also tried rolling back versions (even very old versions) and it still behaves exactly the same. Edit: well, problem solved, turns out I've had an SQL query in there that didn't limit the result set, and when the customer went over a certain number of rows, it started bogging down the server. Took me two days to find it, because of all the surrounding noise in the logs, but I waited for the night and took a dump then, which immediately showed me the query.

• mailman not relaying email to external address

  I have a setup of mailman with postfix on an ubuntu server 12.04. My problem is that mailing list emails are not forwarded to email addresses external to my institution. However the initial welcome email is received by everyone, internally and externally. in fact, a simple email from command line with mail is successfully sent to anyone after that, mailing list emails are only forwarded to internal addresses. the domain name I'm using for the server is not that of my institution who is hosting the server. • LINQ to Entities question about orderby and null collections.

  I am currently developing a forum. I am new to LINQ and EF. In my forum I have a display that shows a list of topics with the most recent topics first. The problem is that "most recent" is relative to the topic's replies. So I don't want to order the list by the topic's posted date, rather I want to order the list by the topic's last reply's posted date. So that topics with newer replies pop back to the top of the list. This is rather simple if I knew that every topic had at least one reply; I would just do this: var topicsQuery = from x in board.Topics orderby x.Replies.Last().PostedDate descending select x; However, in many cases the topic has no replies. In which case I would like to use the topic's posted date instead. Is there a way within my linq query to order by x.PostedDate in the event that the topic has no replies? I'm getting confused by this and any help would be appreciated. With the above query, it breaks on topics with no replies because of the x.Replies.Last() which assumes there are replies. LastOrDefault() doesn't work because I need to access the PostedDate property which also assumes a reply exists. Thanks in advance for any insight.

• Installing software at large organisation

  I have to give an MSI to a large organisation for it to install (presumably via GPO) on to some of their workstations that are running XP. I already know that my application is not allowed to write to the application folder. I realise it should be writing to the AppData folder. The organisation has allocated a folder on a server for the database files and other configuration files. This folder is referenced by UNC naming and not by mapped drives. My question is: based on normal practices, is my app likely to have the rights to create a sub-folder on this server? Is my app likely to have the rights to create files on this server?

• Using LINQ on observable with GroupBy and Sum aggregate

  I have the following block of code which works fine; var boughtItemsToday = (from DBControl.MoneySpent bought in BoughtItemDB.BoughtItems select bought); BoughtItems = new ObservableCollection<DBControl.MoneySpent>(boughtItemsToday); It returns data from my MoneySpent table which includes ItemCategory, ItemAmount, ItemDateTime. I want to change it to group by ItemCategory and ItemAmount so I can see where I am spending most of my money, so I created a GroupBy query, and ended up with this; var finalQuery = boughtItemsToday.AsQueryable().GroupBy(category => category.ItemCategory); BoughtItems = new ObservableCollection<DBControl.MoneySpent>(finalQuery); Which gives me 2 errors; Error 1 The best overloaded method match for 'System.Collections.ObjectModel.ObservableCollection.ObservableCollection(System.Collections.Generic.List)' has some invalid arguments Error 2 Argument 1: cannot convert from 'System.Linq.IQueryable' to 'System.Collections.Generic.List' And this is where I'm stuck! How can I use the GroupBy and Sum aggregate function to get a list of my categories and the associated spend in 1 LINQ query?! Any help/suggestions gratefully received. Mark
