• CSS navigation submenu and seperator

  I have created a navigation bar that is centered with CSS which works. Each li item is separated with a border which is a background image. When hovering on the nav items, the separator disappears because the hover changes the background (I guess) but I wonder how I can fix this, padding or margin can't work because it will just shift the li element. Second problem is that the sub menu items aren't displaying correctly and I have no idea why... • Staticly linked libraries not running code inside to setup static variables.

  In a c++ project I am working on, I have a simple c++ file that needs to run some code at the beginning of the progam execution. This file is linked into a static library, which is then linked into the main program. I have similar code in other files running fine, that looks something like: bool ____nonexistant_value = executeAction(); However, it does not work inside this file unless I make use of a function implemented in this file. It does work if the library is compilied as a shared library. I'd prefer to link this statically as the library is only a convience as the file is in a different directory.

• Problem with joining to an empty table

  I use the following query: select * from A LEFT JOIN B on ( A.t_id != B.t_id) to get all the records in A that are not in B. The results are fine except when table B is completely empty, but then I do not get any records, even from table A. Later It wont work yet!   I'm creating a DLL with a reference to web services (I don't have the choice to do so) but I have to add web service references to the project that uses the DLL for it to work. Example, I have the DLL called API.DLL that calls a web service called WebService.svc that I want to use in a project called WinForm. First, I have to add a "Service Reference" to WebService.svc in API.DLL. Then, I add a reference API.DLL to WinForm but it doesn't work unless I also add a service reference to WebService.svc in WinForm. What can I do to avoid that last step?

• sIFR 3 - sifr-config.js possibly not running? Not sure what's wrong.

  Hi, I've been messing with this for a few hours, and I just can't get the text to be replaced at all. I really can't believe it's taking so long, especially because I did this a few months ago and got it to work in minutes. Anyway, here is my site I'm working on: http://www.moreheadplanetarium.org/regeneration/test/vision.php and I want to replace the h1 tag (Morehead's Vision). I don't know what's wrong, since I've done everything I know to do. I'm jumping back into web design and using Firebug, and when I check the scripts it only has sifr.js and sifr-debug.js in the list, so I'm assuming the config isn't loading but I have no idea what could be the hold up... How do you get the debug to work btw? thanks!

• Is this plain stupid: GIT Sharing Via DropBox?

  I realize that there are similar questions, but my question is slightly different. I'm wondering whether sharing a bare repository via a synchronized DropBox folder on multiple computers would work for sharing code via GIT. Really what I want to know is: is sharing a GIT repo via DropBox (the repo gets updated on each person's local drive) the same as sharing it from one centralized location, e.g., via SSH, git or HTTP? Is this the same or different from sharing a GIT repo via a shared network drive? Note: This is not an empirical question: it seems to work fine. I'm asking whether the way a GIT repo is structured is compatible with this way of sharing. EDIT To clarify/repeat, I'm talking about keeping the GIT repository on DropBox as a bare repository. I'm not talking about keeping the actual files that are under source control in DropBox.

  I have class Base. I'd like to extend its functionality in a class Derived. I was planning to write: class Derived(Base): def __init__(self, base_arg1, base_arg2, derived_arg1, derived_arg2): super().__init__(base_arg1, base_arg2) # ... def derived_method1(self): # ... Sometimes I already have a Base instance, and I want to create a Derived instance based on it, i.e., a Derived instance that shares the Base object (doesn't re-create it from scratch). I thought I could write a static method to do that: b = Base(arg1, arg2) # very large object, expensive to create or copy d = Derived.from_base(b, derived_arg1, derived_arg2) # reuses existing b object but it seems impossible. Either I'm missing a way to make this work, or (more likely) I'm missing a very big reason why it can't be allowed to work. Can someone explain which one it is? [Of course, if I used composition rather than inheritance, this would all be easy to do. But I was hoping to avoid the delegation of all the Base methods to Derived through __getattr__.]

• Svn: how to remove all deleted files from repository ?

  I have a script in which I add all new files before to commit my working copy to my repository with this line: svn status | grep ^\? | awk '{print $2}' | xargs svn add I now want to add a line that delete from repository all deleted files in my working copy. In other terms, I cannot specify them one by one, and I need to detect them with svn status and then automatically remove them. However the line doesn't work. svn status | grep ^\! | awk '{print $2}' | xargs svn --force delete As you can see I've replaced "?" with "!" and "add" with "--force delete" Could you tell me why it doesn't work ? ps. I know it is a risky procedure. I've already discussed all about it. thanks thanks

  I come into ASP.NET from php so the reason why i ask my question is because it's totally different nature of how application works and handles requests. well, i have an exists table with user creditians, such as: id, login, password (sha hashed), email, phone, room i have built custom membership provider so it can handle my own database authentication schema. and now i'm confused, because User.Identity.Name contains only user's login, but not the complete object (i'm using linq2sql to communicate with database and i need in it's User object to work). at php applications i just store user object at some static method at Auth class (or some another), but here at ASP.NET MVC i cannot do this, because static member is shared across all requests and permanent, and not lives within only current request (as it was at php). so my question is: how and where should i retrieve and store linq2sql user object to work with it within current and only current request? (after request processed successfully i expect it will be disposed from memory and on next request will be created again). or i'm following totally wrong way?

  I'm using JQuery mobile frame work. I'm having a server which host a website. The user can connect to website through mobile browser and download files(.doc, .xls, .pdf etc) from that website. I need to open the file which is saved in the user's mobile programmatically using java script. I tried to open using location.href="file://sdcard/download/test.doc". But it didn't work. • How can I measure distance with tastypie and geodjango?

  Using Tastypie and GeoDjango, I'm trying to return results of buildings located within 1 mile of a point. The TastyPie documentation states that distance lookups are not yet supported, but I am finding examples of people getting it work, such as this discussion and this discussion on StackOverflow, but no working code examples that can be applied. The idea that I am trying to work with is if I append a GET command to the end of a URL, then nearby locations are returned, for example: http://website.com/api/?format=json&building_point__distance_lte=[{"type": "Point", "coordinates": [153.09537, -27.52618]},{"type": "D", "m" : 1}] But when I try that, all I get back is: {"error": "Invalid resource lookup data provided (mismatched type)."} I've been pouring over the Tastypie document for days now and just can't figure out how to implement this. I'd provide more examples, but I know they'd be all terrible. All advice is appreciated, thank you!

However, my only experience in Web Service development consists in having written a toy ASP.NET Web Service. All I had to do to expose a method was... [WebMethod] public ReturnType ExposedMethod(InputType1 param1, InputType2 param2) { //... } ... and ASP.NET took care of the rest for me. Obviously, I will have to do everything by hand in my own framework. Thus, I would like to delve a bit more into the little details of how ordinary SOAP Web Services work, in order to replicate them. So I have mainly two questions: Where can I find the details on how SOAP Web Services work, and what ASP.NET hides from me? What are the main challenges I am going to find in my completely lunatic project?

• How do I make a recursive list that checks company rankings?

  I have a set of companies in rank order. I want my rule to check if the companies in a specified list are in rank order, and for the rule to recur until all companies in the list have been checked. I currently have the following: isOrder([]). isOrder([COM1,COM2|T]) :- rank(COM1,D), rank(COM2,E), D<E, print("in order"), isOrder([COM2|T]). However, this does not seem to work. Sometimes, the recursion goes on forever without ending, and sometimes the recursion doesn't work at all. This is when I vary the code to try and get the correct answer. Can anybody help me? I have just started Prolog and my understanding of it is severely limited. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Running sql scripts against an attached database?

  I've got an MDF attached to an instance of Sql Server 2008 Express, and I need to run some sql scripts against it to generate tables, indexes, etc. But I can't figure out how to get this to work. If I load the scripts in Visual Studio, it only allows me to connect to the server and run it against a database. I can't choose a different provider (Microsoft Sql Server Database File), so I can't select my MDF. This leaves me the only option of running the script as individual queries, but that won't work as it appears it doesn't support TSQL CREATE statements. How can I run my sql script against an attached database?

• Repairing broken XML file - removing extra less-than/greater-than signs

  I have a large XML file which in the middle contains the following: <ArticleName>Article 1 <START </ArticleName> Obviously libxml and other XML libraries can't read this because the less-than sign opens a new tag which is never closed. My question is, is there anything I can do to fix issues like this automatically (preferably in Ruby)? The solution should of course work for any field which has an error like this. Someone said SAX parsing could do the trick but I'm not sure how that would work.

I have a HashMap<Integer, ArrayList<Object>> called sharedLocks and I want to check whether a certain value can be found in any ArrayList in the HashMap. The following code obviously wouldn't work because Object[] can't be cast to ArrayList[], but it is a demonstration of the general functionality that I want. ArrayList[] values = (ArrayList[]) sharedLocks.values().toArray(); boolean valueExists = false; for (int i = 0; i < values.length; i++) { if (values[i].contains(accessedObject)) { valueExists = true; } } Is there a way for me to check every ArrayList in the HashMap for a certain value?   This seems like it should be very easy...anyway, it is in MS SQL Server In a DB2 stored procedure, how can I just get the value of a variable? Say I have the following stored procedure: CREATE PROCEDURE etl.TestABC( ) LANGUAGE SQL BEGIN declare Stmt varchar(2048); set Stmt = 'this is a test'; -- print Stmt; -- select Stmt; return 0; END @ I'd like to print out the value of Stmt after I set it. Print doesn't work, select doesn't work. Somebody said I have to insert it to a table first, and then get it after I run the stored procedure. Is this really necessary? • Querying results on timestamp in mysql

  Hi, I have series of records in a table called 'hits' and each record has the current_timestamp (ie. 2010-04-30 10:11:30) in a column called 'current_time'. What I would like to do is query these records and return only the records from the current month. I cannot seem to get this to work. I have tried a range of queries that don't work such as - Select * FROM hits WHERE MONTH(FROM_UNIXTIME(current_time)) = 4 I don't know if I am even on the right lines!   Using a modal plugin for jquery, I'm opening an iframe in a modal with a click event and setting the source attribute to a relative url (should be within https). The page containing the click is an authenticated ssl page. In IE and Safari, this works as expected. In Chrome and Firefox, the source url is opened in http not https. If I set the source to an absolute url using https, same result. • Process requires redirected input

  I have a UNIX native executable that requires the arguments to be fed in like this prog.exe < foo.txt. foo.txt has two lines: bar baz I am using java.lang.ProcessBuilder to execute this command. Unfortunately, prog.exe will only work using the redirect from a file. Is there some way I can mimic this behavior in Java? Of course, ProcessBuilder pb = new ProcessBuilder("prog.exe", "bar", "baz"); does not work. Thanks!
