dynamic array pointer to binary file

Hi guys, Know this might be rather basic, but I been trying to figure out how to one after create a dynamic array such as double* data = new double[size]; be used as a source of data to be kept in to a binary file such as ofstream fs("data.bin",ios:binary"); fs.write(reinterpret_cast<const char *> (data),size*sizeof(double)); When I finish writing, I attempt to read the file through double* data = new double[size]; ifstream fs("data.bin",ios:binary"); fs.read(reinterpret_cast<char*> (data),size*sizeof(double)); However I seem to encounter a run time error when reading the data. Do you guys have any advice how i should attempt to write a dynamic array using pointers passed from other methods to be stored in binary files?

How do I utilize REST to post GPS data from an Android device into a Ruby on Rails application?

I am a student in the process a building an Android app that can post a GPS track into a Rails application. I would like to do things the "Rails" way and take advantage of the REST. My rails application basically has 3 models at this point: users, tracks, and points. A user has_many tracks and a track has_many points. A track also has a total distance. Points have a latitude and longitude. I have successfully been able to create an empty track with: curl -i -X POST -H 'Content-Type: application/xml' -d '<track><distance>100</distance></track>' http://localhost:3000/users/1/tracks Whoo hoo! That is pretty cool. I am really impressed that rails do this. Just to see what would happen I tried the following: curl -i -X POST -H 'Content-Type: application/xml -d '<track><distance>100</distance><points><point><lat>3</lat><lng>2</lng></point></points></track>' http://localhost:3000/users/1/tracks Fail! Is there anyway I can fix TracksController.create so that it will be able to parse xml of a track with nested multiple points? Or is there another way I should be doing this entirely?

How can I erase the old data from logcat?

when I run the command adb logcat while running the android emulator, all of the old logs blow past and so I figure they are stored in a file somewhere. Is there a command I can run to clear the logs and start fresh? If not, is there some other way to do this?

BST insert operation. don't insert a node if a duplicate exists already

the following code reads an input array, and constructs a BST from it. if the current arr[i] is a duplicate, of a node in the tree, then arr[i] is discarded. count in the struct node refers to the number of times a number appears in the array. fi refers to the first index of the element found in the array. after the insertion, i am doing a post-order traversal of the tree and printing the data, count and index (in this order). the output i am getting when i run this code is: 0 0 7 0 0 6 thank you for your help. In the constructor of the handler I generate an index that remains fairly static between request (needs to be rebuilt maybe once a day). How can I cache the the index between calls? Debugging indicates that the constructor is called for each request. I've set IsReusable to "false".

I have an example database, it contains tables for Movies, People and Credits. The Movie table contains a Title and an Id. The People table contains a Name and an Id. The Credits table relates Movies to the People that worked on those Movies, in a particular role. I'd like to perform a query on a particular person that returns the person's name, plus a list of all the movies the person has worked on, and the roles in those movies. Creating a column of RadioButtons in Adobe Flex

I am having an un-predictable behavior of creating radio buttons in advancedDataGrid column using itemRenderer. Similar kind of problem has been reported at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/112036/creating-a-column-of-radiobuttons-in-adobe-flex. I tried to use the same procedure i.e. bind every radio button selectedValue and value attributes with the property specified in the property of the associated bean but still facing the problem. The button change values! The selected button becomes deselected, and unselected ones become selected. I'm trying to write a custom MarkupExtension that allows me to use my own mechanisms for defining a binding, however when I attempt to return a MultiBinding from my MarkupExtension I get the above exception. I have: <TextBlock Text="{my:CustomMarkup ...}" /> CustomMarkup returns a MultiBinding, but apparently Text doesn't like being set to a MultiBinding. How come it works when I say: <TextBlock> <TextBlock.Text> <MultiBinding ... /> </TextBlock.Text> </TextBlock> But it doesn't work the way I'm doing it?

I'm quite new to C#, so I might have a problem that C# has a simple solution for. I have a generic class with a property of "generic" type. How do I implement a function that behaves differently depending on the type of my generic property?

public class Parser { Downloader download = new Downloader(); HtmlDocument Page; public Parser(string MovieTitle) { Page = download.FindMovie(MovieTitle); } public Parser(string ActorName) { Page = download.FindActor(ActorName); } } I want to create a constructor that will allow other developers who use this library to easily create a Parser object with the relevant HtmlDocument already loaded as soon as it's done creating it. The problem lies in that a constructor cannot exist twice with the same type of parameters. Sure I can tell the logical difference between the two paramters, but the computer can't. Any suggestions on how to handle this? Thank you!

How can I enable automatic sorting of my BLL which returns a List CustomerList:List in a GridView? Customer is my own strongly typed class and CustomerList is a List of customers. I know one approach is to set the AllowSorting property to true in the GridView and handle the OnSorting event and call a sorting method defined in my CustomerList class. However I would like a solution which is automatic in the sense that I do not have to handle the OnSorting Event, it should be like how GridView handles automatic sorting for DataView, DataTable, and DataSet. Is there an Interface I need to implement on my CustomerList or Customer class that will enable that functionality?

How best to implement "favourites" feature? (like favourite products on a data driven website)

Hi, I have written a dynamic database driven, object oriented website with an administration frontend etc etc. I would like to add a feature where customers can save items as "favourites", without having to create an account and login, to come back to them later, but I dont know how exactly to go about doing this... I see three options: Log favourites based on IP address and then change these to be logged against an account if the customer then creates an account; Force customers to create an account to be able to use this functionality; Log favourites based on IP address but give users the option to save their favourites under a name they specify. The problem with option 1 is that I dont know much about IP addresses - my Dad thinks they are unique, but I know people have had problems with systems like this. The problem with 1 and 2 is that accounts have not been opened up to customers yet - only administrators can log in at the moment. It should be easy to alter this (no more than a morning or afternoons work) but I would also have to implement usergroups too. The problem with option 3 is that if user A saves a favourites list called "My Favourites", and then user B tries to save a list under this name and it is refused, user B will then be able to access the list saved by user A because they now know it already exists. A solution to this is to password protect lists, but to go to all this effort I may as well implement option 2. Of course I could always use option 4; use an alternative if anyone can suggest a better solution than any of the above options. So has anyone ever done something like this before? If so how did you go about it? What do you recommend (or not recommend)? Many thanks in advance, Regards, Richard

How do I put my return data from an asmx into JSON? I'm having trouble finding decent literature

I want to return an array of javascript objects from my asp.net asmx file. ie. variable = [ { *value1*: 'value1', *value2*: 'value2', ..., }, { . . } ]; I seem have been having trouble reaching this. I'd put this into code but I've been hacking away at it so much it'd probably do more harm than good in having this answered. Basically I am using a web service to find names as people type the name. I'd use a regular text file or something but its a huge database that's always changing - and don't worry I've indexed the names so searching can be a little snappier - but I would really prefer to stick with this method and just figure out how to get usable JSON back to javascript. I've seen a few that sort of attempt to describe how one would approach this but I honestly think microsofts articles are damn near unreadable. Thanks in advance for assistance.

I currently started to "port" my console projects to WinForms, but it seems I am badly failing doing that. I am simply used to a console structure: I got my classes interacting with each other depending on the input coming from the console. A simple flow: Input -> ProcessInput -> Execute -> Output -> wait for input Now I got this big Form1.cs (etc.) and the "Application.Run(Form1);" But I really got no clue how my classes can interact with the form and create a flow like I described above. I mean, I just have these "...._Click(object sender....)" for each "item" inside the form. Now I do not know where to place / start my flow / loop, and how my classes can interact with the form.

Refining data stored in SQLite - how to join several contacts?

Problem background Imagine this problem. You have a water molecule which is in contact with other molecules (if the contact is a hydrogen bond, there can be 4 other molecules around my water). Like in the following picture (A, B, C, D are some other atoms and dots mean the contact). A B . . O / \ H H . . C D I have the information about all the dots and I need to eliminate the water in the center and create records describing contacts of A-C, A-D, A-B, B-C, B-D, and C-D. Database structure Currently, I have the following structure in the database: Table atoms: "id" integer PRIMARY KEY, "amino" char(3) NOT NULL, (HOH for water or other value) other columns identifying the atom Table contacts: "acceptor_id" integer NOT NULL, (the atom near to my hydrogen, here C or D) "donor_id" integer NOT NULL, (here A or B) "directness" char(1) NOT NULL, (this should be D for direct and W for water-mediated) other columns about the contact, such as the distance Current solution (insufficient) Now, I'm going through all the contacts which have donor.amino = "HOH". In this sample case, this would select contacts from C and D. For each of these selected contacts, I look up contacts having the same acceptor_id as is the donor_id in the currently selected contact. From this information, I create the new contact. At the end, I delete all contacts to or from HOH. This way, I am obviously unable to create C-D and A-B contacts (the other 4 are OK). If I try a similar approach - trying to find two contacts having the same donor_id, I end up with duplicate contacts (C-D and D-C). Is there a simple way to retrieve all six contacts without duplicates? I'm dreaming about some one page long SQL query which retrievs just these six wanted rows. :-) It is preferable to conserve information about who is donor where possible, but not strictly necessary.
