  I'm about to format a machine and I am wondering if anyone can tell me how to copy an Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard (9.2.0) license so I can reload the software. I have several re-install disks that were sent as part of Dell's packaging but have no idea how to tie the disc to the license so I was hoping to just be able to copy a specific file or something and reload using a random Acrobat 9 Standard disc.   I've looked at sites and MSDN documentation but I still don't understand the last parameter of PostMessage(). On forums in which people ask how to use PostMessage, people reply with one of two implementations: PostMessage(WindowHandle, WM_KEYDOWN, KeyCode, MapVirtualKey(KeyCode, 0) << 16); PostMessage(WindowHandle, WM_KEYDOWN, KeyCode, 0); What's the difference? Why can the last parameter be left as 0 in some instances, but has to be 'shifted' and all that in other instances? Just a quick question. • ::LookupAccountSid API Extremely Slow When Targeting x64 Platform (Windows 7)

  During our application startup, we are making a call to ::LookupAccountSid(). When I build targeting the x86 architecture, this call is nearly instantaneous. However, when I target x64 (debug or release), the call generally takes over 40s to complete. Since this is occurring during application startup, the result is fairly unpleasant as it will appear to the user that the application is not launching. I am running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit on a Dell Studio XPS 16 (Intel Core i7 Q 720). Our application is a native Windows application written in C++.   Hi all, I'm playing around with a fork of acts_as_taggable_on_steroids as a learning exercise. The version I'm looking at does some stuff I don't understand to calculate Tag counts. So I thought I'd do a version using PORC (Plain Old Rails Counters): class Tagging < ActiveRecord::Base #:nodoc: belongs_to :tag, :counter_cache => "tagging_counter_cache" ... I thought tagging_counter_cache was transparently accessed when I access tag.taggings.count but apparently not? Do I really have to access tag.tagging_counter_cache explicitly? >> tag.taggings.count SQL (0.7ms) SELECT count(*) AS count_all FROM `taggings` WHERE (`taggings`.tag_id = 16) Same for size. It's cool if that's the case but just wanted to check.

  Hi, I would like to construct a hash table that looks up keys in sequences (strings) of bytes ranging from 1 to 15 bytes. I would like to store an integer value, so I imagine an array for hashing would suffice. I'm having difficulty conceptualizing how to construct a hash function such that given the key would give an index into the array. Any assistance would be much appreiated. The maximum number of entries in the hash is: 4081*15 + 4081*14 + ... 4081 = 4081((15*(16))/2) = 489720. So for example: int table[489720]; int lookup(unsigned char *key) { int index = hash(key); return table[index]; } How can I compute hash(key). I'd preferably like to get a perfect hash function.   Intellitype Pro is a nice software that helps me when I'm using my Ms keyboard. When I'm on the road using my laptop's built-in keyboard it interprets some of the keys incorrectly and reacts on them, for instance the Fn + Down Arrow opens Windows Live Messenger (in addition to lowering brightness, which is governed by Dell's driver). I want to stop Intellitype when I'm on the road and reload it when I'm home using the external keyboard. Note: original problem (conflict with itype) posted here.

  We are under a heavy icmp flood attack. Tcpdump shows the result below. Altough we have blocked ICMP with iptables tcpdump still prints icmp packets. I've also attached iptables configuration and "top" result. Is there any thing I can do to completely stop icmp packets? • Pretty Printer for T-SQL?

  I'm looking for a good T-SQL Pretty Printer so that all the code looks consistant between developers in our project. Preferably a free/open source one, but paid for isn't out of the realms of possibility as long as it's reasonably priced. Are there any particular industry leaders? I'm not that fussed about what particular standard it uses, but the more configurable the better. That way we can have little style wars among the developers and have a bit of fun to boot. ;-) I suppose I should add that Visual Studio and Management Studio integration would be considered favourably.

  I'm working with the the Release Candidate of Visual Studio 2010 using Wf4 to write a new workflow for approving resource requests. In my workflow, I would like for a request to expire after a few days if no approval has been made for the request. We did this in WF 3.5 (Visual Studio 2008) by adding a Delay timer into an EventDrivenActivity parallel to the EventDrivenActivity that was awaiting an approver to come and approve the request. If the Delay expired before an approval was made, the EventDrivenActivity would terminate the request. Does anyone know if there is a similar mechanism for doing this in WF4?

  I'm using Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Management Studio to create a relational schema by following an Entity-Relationship diagram. (included below; unrelated details removed) Until now, primary and foreign keys have been working as expected. But when I try to create a foreign key from the entity relationship takes onto the weak entity set section, I get an error. Section is identified by a composite primary key in the context of course, which has course_id as a primary key. Therefore, the primary key of section is a 4-way composite key. The entity relationship takes needs to refer to section, so it includes all 4 primary attributes from section in it's own primary key. When trying to establish a foreign key relationship from takes to section, Studio gives the following error: The columns in table 'section' do not match an existing primary key or UNIQUE constraint. Am I doing something wrong, or is this an unsupported configuration? I can provide more details or the SQL schema if necessary.

• ffmpeg 0.5 flv to wav conversion creates wav files that other programs won't open.

  Hi, I am using the following command to convert FLV files to audio files to feed into julian, a speech to text program. cat ./jon2.flv | ffmpeg -i - -vn -acodec pcm_s16le -ar 16000 -ac 1 -f wav - | cat - > jon2.wav The cat's are there for debugging purposes as the final use will be a running program that will pipe FLV into ffmpeg's stdin and the stdout going to julian. The resulting wave files are identified by "file" as: jon3.wav: RIFF (little-endian) data, WAVE audio, Microsoft PCM, 16 bit, mono 16000 Hz VLC (based on ffmpeg) plays the file, but no other tools will open/see the data. They show empty wav files or won't open/play. For example Sound Booth from CS4. Has anyone else had similar problems? Julian requires wav files 16bit mono at 16000 Hz. Julian does seem to read the file, but doesn't seem to go through the entire file (may be unrelated). Thanks, -rr

  I am looking for an efficient algorithm to find the largest eigenpair of a small, general (non-square, non-sparse, non-symmetric), complex matrix, A, of size m x n. By small I mean m and n is typically between 4 and 64 and usually around 16, but with m not equal to n. This problem is straight forward to solve with the general LAPACK SVD algorithms, i.e. gesvd or gesdd. However, as I am solving millions of these problems and only require the largest eigenpair, I am looking for a more efficient algorithm. Additionally, in my application the eigenvectors will generally be similar for all cases. This lead me to investigate Arnoldi iteration based methods, but I have neither found a good library nor algorithm that applies to my small general complex matrix. Is there an appropriate algorithm and/or library?

• error executing aapt, all of the sudden

  I know there are a lot of these topics around but none seem to help in my case, nor describe it exactly. The best similar one is aapt not found under the right path. My problem is that I can be using Eclipse for a whole evening programming, compiling and using my device, and then suddenly I get "error executing aapt" for my current project and ofcourse R.java isn't (properly) generated anymore. I then restart Eclipse and everything goes away. I'm seeing this once a day on average however. I've recently switched to amd64 and installed the latest Android-2.3 SDK and matching tools. I know that there is now a platform-tools folder that has an aapt version that should work SDK version independently. At first I had added this directory to my PATH, as instructed on the SDK website. I've also tried not adding it to my path and making a link platforms/android-9/tools so that every SDK version might use it's own old copy. Needless to say, platform-tools/aapt is there and has the right permissions, and I have been able to execute it on the command-line at any time. When I do write a faulty xml file or sorts, and appropriately get an error, I see an extra line that says "aapt: /lib32/libz.so.1: no version information available". I'm running a recent Gentoo linux system. I have everything installed to support x86 on amd64, but have re-emerged emul-linux-x86-baselibs and zlib just to be sure. The problem persists. I do see some pages that spell horror over some zlib bugs, but I'm not sure if that's related. I realize I'm not on the reference Ubuntu platform, but surely the difference cannot be that great? It might very well be a bug in aapt or the tools itself. Why would it suddenly stop working? I also experience that the ids in R.java were incorrect, namely that simple findViewById() code would give ClassCastExceptions because of mixed ids the one time, and then work perfectly without any changes bu only a "clean project", in the aftermath of a failing aapt. Note here too, that I can just restart Eclipse and can export apks again without problems, at least for a little while. I'm starting to think it is related to lack of memory on my system. The message "onvoldoende geheugen beschikbaar" means "insufficient memory available". I have also been seeing insufficient memory errors in DDMS when I'm dumping HPROF files.
