• Prevent RegEx Hang on Large Matches...

  This is a great regular expression for dates... However it hangs indefinitely on this one page I tried... I wanted to try this page ( http://pleac.sourceforge.net/pleac%5Fpython/datesandtimes.html ) for the fact that it does have lots of dates on it and I want to grab all of them. I don't understand why it is hanging when it doesn't on other pages... Why is my regexp hanging and/or how could I clean it up to make it better/efficient ?   I am trying to programmatically create and bind a table of accelerators in wxPython in a loop so that I don't need to worry about getting and assigning new IDs to each accelerators (and with a view to inhaling the handler list from some external resource, rather than hard-coding them). I also pass in some arguments to the handler via a lambda since a lot of my handlers will be the same but with different parameters (move, zoom, etc).   I'm trying to insert/add a line 'COMMENT DUMMY' at the beginnig of a file as a first row if /PATTERN/ not found. I know how to do this with OPEN CLOSE function. • How can I use "IF statements" in a postgres trigger

  I have a trigger function that I only want to fire on certain instances of INSERTS, in this case, if do_backup = true. If it fires in all instances, I get an infinite loop. The logic seems pretty simple to me, and the rest of the function works. But the trigger function does not seem to register my conditional and always runs, even when backup = true.   I'm working on a simple JOIN of two tables (urls and companies). I am using this query call: print $this->_db->select()->from(array('u' => 'urls'), array('id', 'url', 'company_id')) ->join(array('c' => 'companies'), 'u.company_id = c.id'); which is out putting this query: SELECT `u`.`id`, `u`.`url`, `u`.`company_id`, `c`.* FROM `urls` AS `u` INNER JOIN `companies` AS `c` ON u.company_id = c.id Now, I'd prefer the c.* to not actually appear, but either way it doesn't matter. ZF dies with this error: SQLSTATE[42000]: Syntax error or access violation: 1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1" but I can run that query perfectly fine in my MySQL CLI. Any ideas how to fix up this query?

For example, if I use polling instead, will they limit my api calls? And if I try using RSS feeds, about how much delay can I expect? • BATCH - wait for executable to finish before starting next result

  I'm pretty much a noob at this, so any help is appreciated. I'm trying to run the video transcoding executable REDline on all .R3D files in a given folder. REDline only accepts single files, which is the issue. I finally got it to search recursively for the files I need, but my problem is the search function passes the next result to REDline before the first one is finished transcoding. I have the search results that need to run in a variable inside REDline. Here's the code: for /r D:\folder\ %%a in (*) do ( "C:/Program Files/REDCINE-X PRO 64-bit/REDLine.exe" --exportPreset "Prores_Intermediate" --i "%%~dpnxa" --useRSX 2 --masterRMDFolder "" -s 0 -e 95 ) After about .7 seconds, REDline reports 'received stop message from client'. I don't think this is a REDline error, as I have been able to transcode single files successfully. Thanks.

• Which language should I learn to create a sudoku game?

  I'd like to learn a new programming language, something besides all the scripting languages I've used for the past many years (Ruby, JavaScript, Perl, PHP, bash). I figured it might be interesting to make a sudoku game since there are plenty of documented algorithms and it only requires fairly simple data structures. It might start out as either a generator or a solver of puzzles, not necessarily both and not necessarily with a GUI. My goal is primarily to learn some new programming concepts beyond MVC and UI design, secondarily for this thing to be pretty fast. Is there a language that particularly shines for these sorts of constraint satisfaction problems? Is it suited to a functional language like Haskell or a highly concurrent language like Erlang (say for solving puzzles much larger than 9 x 9)? Or is this question mostly meaningless?

  I'm playing around with NHibernate 3.0. So far things are pretty cool. I'm trying to attach an entity that wasn't detached previously: var post = new Post(){ Id = 2 } session.Update(post); // Thought this would work but it doesn't. post.Title = "New Title After Update"; session.Flush(); Is this possible so that only Title gets updated? This is currently possible in EntityFramework. I'd like to not have to load Post from the database when I just need to update a few properties.

  I'm trying to work with CFNetServices by trying to start up and publish a service asynchronously. I'm trying to use the example code from here: http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/documentation/Networking/Conceptual/NSNetServiceProgGuide/Articles/CFNetServices.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/30001276-SW3, but CFNetRegisterWithOptions always fails. (CFNetRegister is deprecated now). When I print out the error struct, it looks like this: (gdb) p error $1 = { domain = 10, error = -72004 } Which doesn't seem correct to me. Does anyone know what might be wrong? Thanks!

I have the wsdl and xml specifications, but I have a doubt: the xml elements are pretty complex, they are not simple type, but they have parent/child relationships (e.g. I have a Book class with an author subclass). How can I map this to PHP classes? In this example, should I create an author class i.e.: class Author { public $name; public $surname; } and then class Book { public $author; } will $author be a class of type Author?   I am working with a large list of points (each point has three dimensions x,y,z). I am pretty new with R, so I would like to know what is the best way to represent that kind of information. • How to handle this "session failed to write file" error in PHP?

  I am using the Kohana 3 framework, and am using the native session driver. For some reason, occasionally the sessions fail to write to their file. Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: open(/tmp/sess_*****, O_RDWR) failed: Permission denied (13) in /home/site/public_html/system/classes/kohana/session/native.php on line 27 I am pretty sure Kohana has its own in built error handler, but it is not triggered with this error (i.e. it shows up like a normal PHP error, not the Kohana error). Anyone that has ever used Kohana will notice this seems to have bypassed Kohana's error handling (perhaps set with set_error_handler()). Is there anyway to stop this error from appearing without switching from the native session (i.e. file based) driver? Should I just give good practice the boot and append an @ error suppressor to session_start() in the core code of Kohana? Should I relax the error_reporting()? Thanks

  I am trying to get the value of base_path variable in PHP (on lamp server) . I have kept the code insider beta_test directory inside www directly. i.e, base path function should return " /beta_test/ " . But it is returning just single slash ( "/" ) . • Bash - replacing targeted files with a specific file, whitespace in directory names

  I have a large directory tree of files, and am using the following script to list and replace a searched-for name with a specific file. Problem is, I don't know how to write the createList() for-loop correctly to account for whitespace in a directory name. If all directories don't have spaces, it works fine.
