  • SQL Function that calculates Shift from StartTime and EndTime

    - by Gentis
    Hello Folks I have been trying to get a function going that calculates what Shift the Employees worked from their StartTime and EndTime. Here is the code i have so far, there seems to be calculating the shift wrong. Shift 1 from 08:00:00 - 16:30:00 Shift 2 from 16:00:00 - 00:30:00 Shift 3 from 00:00:00 - 08:30:00 Also the shift with most hours wins for times between shifts. Thanks, G `FUNCTION [dbo].[ShiftDifferential] ( @StartTime time(0), @EndTime time(0) ) RETURNS int AS BEGIN --DECLARE @StartTime time(0) --DECLARE @EndTime time(0) -- Declare the return variable here DECLARE @Shift1StartTime time(0) DECLARE @Shift2StartTime time(0) DECLARE @Shift3StartTime time(0) DECLARE @Shift1EndTime time(0) DECLARE @Shift2EndTime time(0) DECLARE @Shift3EndTime time(0) DECLARE @HrsShift1 decimal(18,2) DECLARE @HrsShift2 decimal(18,2) DECLARE @HrsShift3 decimal(18,2) DECLARE @ShiftDiff int --SET @StartTime = '09:00:00' --SET @EndTime = '13:00:00' SET @Shift1StartTime = '08:00:00' SET @Shift2StartTime = '16:00:00' SET @Shift3StartTime = '00:00:00' SET @Shift1EndTime = '16:30:00' SET @Shift2EndTime = '00:30:00' SET @Shift3EndTime = '08:30:00' --SELECT DATEDIFF(HH, @Shift1StartTime, @EndTime) -- hours are between shift 3 and shift 1 if DATEDIFF(HH, @Shift1StartTime, @StartTime) < 0 AND (DATEDIFF(hh, @Shift1StartTime, @EndTime) < 8.0 AND DATEDIFF(hh, @Shift1StartTime, @EndTime) 0) begin --PRINT 'Shift 3-1 step1' SET @HrsShift3 = DATEDIFF(HH, @StartTime, @Shift1StartTime) SET @HrsShift1 = DATEDIFF(HH, @Shift1StartTime, @Endtime) --PRINT @HrsShift3 --PRINT @HrsShift1 -- get shift with most hours if @HrsShift3 @HrsShift1 begin SET @ShiftDiff = 3 end else begin SET @ShiftDiff = 1 end end -- hours are in shift 1 if (DATEDIFF(HH, @Shift1StartTime, @StartTime) = 0 AND DATEDIFF(HH, @Shift1StartTime, @EndTime) <= 8) OR (DATEDIFF(HH, @Shift1StartTime, @StartTime) 0 AND DATEDIFF(HH, @Shift1StartTime, @EndTime) <= 8) begin --PRINT 'Shift 1 step2' SET @HrsShift3 = 0 SET @HrsShift1 = DATEDIFF(HH, @StartTime, @EndTime) --PRINT @HrsShift3 --PRINT @HrsShift1 -- only one shift with hours SET @ShiftDiff = 1 end -- hours are between shift 1 and shift 2 if DATEDIFF(HH, @Shift2StartTime, @StartTime) < 0 and (DATEDIFF(HH, @Shift2StartTime, @EndTime) < 8.0 AND DATEDIFF(HH, @Shift2StartTime, @EndTime) 0) begin --PRINT 'Shift 1-2 step1' SET @HrsShift1 = DATEDIFF(HH, @StartTime, @Shift2StartTime) SET @HrsShift2 = DATEDIFF(HH, @Shift2StartTime, @Endtime) --PRINT @HrsShift1 --PRINT @HrsShift2 -- get the shift with most hours if @HrsShift1 @HrsShift2 begin SET @ShiftDiff = 1 end else begin SET @ShiftDiff = 2 end end -- hours are in shift 2 if (DATEDIFF(HH, @Shift2StartTime, @StartTime) = 0 AND DATEDIFF(HH, @Shift2StartTime, @EndTime) <= 8) OR (DATEDIFF(HH, @Shift2StartTime, @StartTime) 0 AND DATEDIFF(HH, @Shift2StartTime, @EndTime) <= 8) begin --PRINT 'Shift 2 step2' SET @HrsShift3 = 0 SET @HrsShift1 = DATEDIFF(HH, @StartTime, @EndTime) --PRINT @HrsShift3 --PRINT @HrsShift1 -- only one shift with hours SET @ShiftDiff = 2 end -- hours are between shift 2 and shift 3 - overnight shift if DATEDIFF(HH, @StartTime, @EndTime) < 0 begin --PRINT 'Shift 2-3 step1' SET @HrsShift2 = DATEDIFF(HH, @StartTime, '23:59:59') + DATEDIFF(HH, '00:00:00', '00:30:00') SET @HrsShift3 = DATEDIFF(HH, '00:30:00', @EndTime) --PRINT @HrsShift2 --PRINT @HrsShift3 -- get the shift with most hours if @HrsShift2 @HrsShift3 begin SET @ShiftDiff = 2 end else begin SET @ShiftDiff = 3 end end -- hours are in shift 3 if (DATEDIFF(HH, @Shift3StartTime, @StartTime) = 0 AND DATEDIFF(HH, @Shift3StartTime, @EndTime) <= 8) OR (DATEDIFF(HH, @Shift3StartTime, @StartTime) 0 AND DATEDIFF(HH, @Shift3StartTime, @EndTime) <= 8) begin --PRINT 'Shift 3 step2' SET @HrsShift2 = 0 SET @HrsShift3 = DATEDIFF(HH, @StartTime, @EndTime) --PRINT @HrsShift2 --PRINT @HrsShift3 -- only one shift with hours SET @ShiftDiff = 3 end RETURN @ShiftDiff; END`

  • Handwritten linked list is segfaulting and I don't understand why

    - by Born2Smile
    Hi I was working on a bit of fun, making an interface to run gnuplot from within c++, and for some reason the my linked list implementation fails. The code below fails on the line plots-append(&plot). Stepping through the code I discovered that for some reason the destructor ~John() is called immediately after the constructor John(), and I cannot seem to figure out why. The code included below is a stripped down version operating only on Plot*. Originally I made the linked list as a template class. And it worked fine as ll<int and ll<char* but for some reason it fails as ll<Plot*. Could youp please help me figure out why it fails? and perhaps help me understand how to make it work? In advance: Thanks a heap! //B2S #include <string.h class Plot{ char title[80]; public: Plot(){ } }; class Link{ Plot* element; Link* next; Link* prev; friend class ll; }; class ll{ Link* head; Link* tail; public: ll(){ head = tail = new Link(); head-prev = tail-prev = head-next = tail-next = head; } ~ll(){ while (head!=tail){ tail = tail-prev; delete tail-next; } delete head; } void append(Plot* element){ tail-element = element; tail-next = new Link(); tail-next-prev = tail; tail-next = tail; } }; class John{ ll* plots; public: John(){ plots= new ll(); } ~John(){ delete plots; } John(Plot* plot){ John(); plots-append(plot); } }; int main(){ Plot p; John k(&p); }

Following is the code: fseek(inputFile, 2*sizeof(int), SEEK_SET); However, when I print the contents of the array where I store the retrieved values, it still shows me the first 8 bytes which is not what I need. Can anyone please help me out with this? Regards, darkie

  • Go - How to read/write to file?

    - by Seth Hoenig
    I've been trying to learn Go / Golang on my own, but I've been stumped on trying read and write to ordinary files. I can get as far as: inFile,_ := os.Open(INFILE,0,0); but actually getting the content of the file doesn't make sense, since the read function takes a []byte as a parameter?? func (file *File) Read(b []byte) (n int, err Error)

  • Default template arguments for function templates

    - by Arman
    Why are default template arguments only allowed on class templates? Why can't we define a default type in a member function template? For example: struct mycclass { template<class T=int> void mymember(T* vec) { // ... } }; Instead, C++ forces that default template arguments are only allowed on a class template.

  • using group_concat in PHPMYADMIN will show the result as [BLOB - 3B]

    - by Itay Moav
    I have a query which uses the GROUP_CONCAT of mysql on an integer field. I am using PHPMYADMIN to develop this query. My problem that instead of showing 1,2 which is the result of the concatenated field, I get [BLOB - 3B]. Query is SELECT rec_id,GROUP_CONCAT(user_id) FROM t1 GROUP BY rec_id (both fields are unsigned int, both are not unique) What should I add to see the actual results?

    - by norlando02
    Below is the code I'm using to load the data into an Excel worksheet, but I'm look to auto size the column after the data is loaded. Does anyone know the best way to auto size the columns? using Microsoft.Office.Interop; public class ExportReport { public void Export() { Excel.Application excelApp = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application(); Excel.Workbook wb; Excel.Worksheet ws; Excel.Range aRange; object m = Type.Missing; string[,] data; string errorMessage = string.Empty; try { if (excelApp == null) throw new Exception("EXCEL could not be started."); // Create the workbook and worksheet. wb = excelApp.Workbooks.Add(Office.Excel.XlWBATemplate.xlWBATWorksheet); ws = (Office.Excel.Worksheet)wb.Worksheets[1]; if (ws == null) throw new Exception("Could not create worksheet."); // Set the range to fill. aRange = ws.get_Range("A1", "E100"); if (aRange == null) throw new Exception("Could not get a range."); // Load the column headers. data = new string[100, 5]; data[0, 0] = "Column 1"; data[0, 1] = "Column 2"; data[0, 2] = "Column 3"; data[0, 3] = "Column 4"; data[0, 4] = "Column 5"; // Load the data. for (int row = 1; row < 100; row++) { for (int col = 0; col < 5; col++) { data[row, col] = "STUFF"; } } // Save all data to the worksheet. aRange.set_Value(m, data); // Atuo size columns // TODO: Add Code to auto size columns. // Save the file. wb.SaveAs("C:\Test.xls", Office.Excel.XlFileFormat.xlExcel8, m, m, m, m, Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.XlSaveAsAccessMode.xlNoChange, m, m, m, m, m); // Close the file. wb.Close(false, false, m); } catch (Exception) { } finally { // Close the connection. cmd.Close(); // Close Excel. excelApp.Quit(); } } }

  • Java Threading Concept Understanding

    - by Nirmal
    Hello All... Recently I have gone through with one simple threading program, which leads me some issues for the related concepts... My sample program code looks like : class NewThread implements Runnable { Thread t; NewThread() { t = new Thread(this, "Demo Thread"); System.out.println("Child thread: " + t); t.start(); // Start the thread } public void run() { try { for (int i = 5; i > 0; i--) { System.out.println("Child Thread: " + i); Thread.sleep(500); } } catch (InterruptedException e) { System.out.println("Child interrupted."); } System.out.println("Exiting child thread."); } } class ThreadDemo { public static void main(String args[]) { new NewThread(); // create a new thread try { for (int i = 5; i > 0; i--) { System.out.println("Main Thread: " + i); Thread.sleep(1000); } } catch (InterruptedException e) { System.out.println("Main thread interrupted."); } System.out.println("Main thread exiting."); } } Now this program giving me the output as follows : Child thread: Thread[Demo Thread,5,main] Main Thread: 5 Child Thread: 5 Child Thread: 4 Main Thread: 4 Child Thread: 3 Child Thread: 2 Main Thread: 3 Child Thread: 1 Exiting child thread. Main Thread: 2 Main Thread: 1 Main thread exiting. So, that's very much clear to me. But as soon as I am replacing the object creation code (calling of a NewThread class constructor) to as follows : NewThread nt = new NewThread(); // create a new thread the output becomes a bit varied like as follows : Child thread: Thread[Demo Thread,5,main] Main Thread: 5 Child Thread: 5 Child Thread: 4 Child Thread: 3 Main Thread: 4 Child Thread: 2 Child Thread: 1 Main Thread: 3 Exiting child thread. Main Thread: 2 Main Thread: 1 Main thread exiting. And some times it's giving me same output in both the cases. So, i am not getting the exact change in both the scenario. I would like to know that you the variation in the output is coming here ? Thanks in advance...

  • problem with two .NET threads and hardware access

    - by mack369
    I'm creating an application which communicates with the device via FT2232H USB/RS232 converter. For communication I'm using FTD2XX_NET.dll library from FTDI website. I'm using two threads: first thread continuously reads data from the device the second thread is the main thread of the Windows Form Application I've got a problem when I'm trying to write any data to the device while the receiver's thread is running. The main thread simply hangs up on ftdiDevice.Write function. I tried to synchronize both threads so that only one thread can use Read/Write function at the same time, but it didn't help. Below code responsible for the communication. Note that following functions are methods of FtdiPort class. Receiver's thread private void receiverLoop() { if (this.DataReceivedHandler == null) { throw new BackendException("dataReceived delegate is not set"); } FTDI.FT_STATUS ftStatus = FTDI.FT_STATUS.FT_OK; byte[] readBytes = new byte[this.ReadBufferSize]; while (true) { lock (FtdiPort.threadLocker) { UInt32 numBytesRead = 0; ftStatus = ftdiDevice.Read(readBytes, this.ReadBufferSize, ref numBytesRead); if (ftStatus == FTDI.FT_STATUS.FT_OK) { this.DataReceivedHandler(readBytes, numBytesRead); } else { Trace.WriteLine(String.Format("Couldn't read data from ftdi: status {0}", ftStatus)); Thread.Sleep(10); } } Thread.Sleep(this.RXThreadDelay); } } Write function called from main thread public void Write(byte[] data, int length) { if (this.IsOpened) { uint i = 0; lock (FtdiPort.threadLocker) { this.ftdiDevice.Write(data, length, ref i); } Thread.Sleep(1); if (i != (int)length) { throw new BackendException("Couldnt send all data"); } } else { throw new BackendException("Port is closed"); } } Object used to synchronize two threads static Object threadLocker = new Object(); Method that starts the receiver's thread private void startReceiver() { if (this.DataReceivedHandler == null) { return; } if (this.IsOpened == false) { throw new BackendException("Trying to start listening for raw data while disconnected"); } this.receiverThread = new Thread(this.receiverLoop); //this.receiverThread.Name = "protocolListener"; this.receiverThread.IsBackground = true; this.receiverThread.Start(); } The ftdiDevice.Write function doesn't hang up if I comment following line: ftStatus = ftdiDevice.Read(readBytes, this.ReadBufferSize, ref numBytesRead);

  • Difficulties getting GraphViz working as a library in C++

    - by DistortedLojik
    Am working on a program that will allow a graph of nodes to be displayed and then updated visually as the nodes themselves are updated. I am fairly new to Visual Studio 2010 and am following the GraphViz guide located at http://www.graphviz.org/pdf/libguide.pdf in order to get GraphViz working as a library. I have the following code which is taken straight from the pdf linked above. #include <graphviz\gvc.h> #include <graphviz\cdt.h> #include <graphviz\graph.h> #include <graphviz\pathplan.h> using namespace std; int main(int argc, char **argv) { Agraph_t *g; Agnode_t *n, *m; Agedge_t *e; Agsym_t *a; GVC_t *gvc; /* set up a graphviz context */ gvc = gvContext(); /* parse command line args - minimally argv[0] sets layout engine */ gvParseArgs(gvc, argc, argv); /* Create a simple digraph */ g = agopen("g", AGDIGRAPH); n = agnode(g, "n"); m = agnode(g, "m"); e = agedge(g, n, m); /* Set an attribute - in this case one that affects the visible rendering */ agsafeset(n, "color", "red", ""); /* Compute a layout using layout engine from command line args */ gvLayoutJobs(gvc, g); /* Write the graph according to -T and -o options */ gvRenderJobs(gvc, g); /* Free layout data */ gvFreeLayout(gvc, g); /* Free graph structures */ agclose(g); /* close output file, free context, and return number of errors */ return (gvFreeContext(gvc)); } After compiling I get the following errors which indicate that I do not have it correctly linked. 1>main.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _gvFreeContext referenced in function _main 1>main.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _agclose referenced in function _main 1>main.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _gvFreeLayout referenced in function _main 1>main.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _gvRenderJobs referenced in function _main 1>main.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _gvLayoutJobs referenced in function _main 1>main.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _agsafeset referenced in function _main 1>main.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _agedge referenced in function _main 1>main.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _agnode referenced in function _main 1>main.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _agopen referenced in function _main 1>main.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _gvParseArgs referenced in function _main 1>main.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _gvContext referenced in function _main Within the VC++ Directories I have C:\Program Files (x86)\Graphviz2.26.3\include in the Include Directories and C:\Program Files (x86)\Graphviz2.26.3\lib\release\lib in the Library Directories Any help would be greatly appreciated to help get this working. Thank you.

  • DataContractSerializer and XSLT not Serializing Class Properties

    - by Russ Clark
    I've written a simple Employee class that I'm trying to serialize to an XDocument and then use XSLT to transform the document to a page that displays both the properties (Name and ID) from the Employee class, and an html form with 2 radio buttons (Approve and Reject) and a submit button. Here is the Employee class: [Serializable, DataContract(Namespace="XSLT_MVC.Controllers/")] public class Employee { [DataMember] public string Name { get; set; } [DataMember] public int ID { get; set; } public Employee() { } public Employee(string name, int id) { Name = name; ID = id; } public XDocument GetDoc() { XDocument doc = new XDocument(); var serializer = new DataContractSerializer(typeof(Employee)); using (var writer = doc.CreateWriter()) { serializer.WriteObject(writer, this); writer.Close(); } return doc; } } And here is the XSLT file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" > <xsl:output method="html" indent="yes"/> <xsl:template match="/"> <html> <body> <xsl:value-of select="Employee/Name"/> <br /> <xsl:value-of select="Employee/ID"/> <br /> <form method="post" action="/Home/ProcessRequest?id={Employee/ID}"> <input id="Action" name="Action" type="radio" value="Approved"></input> Approved <br /> <input id="Action" name="Action" type="radio" value="Rejected"></input> Rejected <br /> <input type="submit" value="Submit"></input> </form> </body> </html> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> When I run this, all I get is the html form with the 2 radio buttons and the submit button, but not the properties from the Employee class. I saw a separate StackOverflow post that said I need to change the <xsl:template match="/"> to match on the namespace of my Employee class like this: <xsl:template match="/XSLT_MVC.Controllers"> but when I do that, now all I get are the Employee properties, and not the html form with the 2 radio buttons and the submit button. Does anyone know what needs to be done so that my transform will select and display both the Employee properties and the html form?

  • Panning weirdness on an UserControl

    - by Matías
    Hello, I'm trying to build my own "PictureBox like" control adding some functionalities. For example, I want to be able to pan over a big image by simply clicking and dragging with the mouse. The problem seems to be on my OnMouseMove method. If I use the following code I get the drag speed and precision I want, but of course, when I release the mouse button and try to drag again the image is restored to its original position. using System.Drawing; using System.Windows.Forms; namespace Testing { public partial class ScrollablePictureBox : UserControl { private Image image; private bool centerImage; public Image Image { get { return image; } set { image = value; Invalidate(); } } public bool CenterImage { get { return centerImage; } set { centerImage = value; Invalidate(); } } public ScrollablePictureBox() { InitializeComponent(); SetStyle(ControlStyles.AllPaintingInWmPaint | ControlStyles.OptimizedDoubleBuffer, true); Image = null; AutoScroll = true; AutoScrollMinSize = new Size(0, 0); } private Point clickPosition; private Point scrollPosition; protected override void OnMouseDown(MouseEventArgs e) { base.OnMouseDown(e); clickPosition.X = e.X; clickPosition.Y = e.Y; } protected override void OnMouseMove(MouseEventArgs e) { base.OnMouseMove(e); if (e.Button == MouseButtons.Left) { scrollPosition.X = clickPosition.X - e.X; scrollPosition.Y = clickPosition.Y - e.Y; AutoScrollPosition = scrollPosition; } } protected override void OnPaint(PaintEventArgs e) { base.OnPaint(e); e.Graphics.FillRectangle(new Pen(BackColor).Brush, 0, 0, e.ClipRectangle.Width, e.ClipRectangle.Height); if (Image == null) return; int centeredX = AutoScrollPosition.X; int centeredY = AutoScrollPosition.Y; if (CenterImage) { //Something not relevant } AutoScrollMinSize = new Size(Image.Width, Image.Height); e.Graphics.DrawImage(Image, new RectangleF(centeredX, centeredY, Image.Width, Image.Height)); } } } But if I modify my OnMouseMove method to look like this: protected override void OnMouseMove(MouseEventArgs e) { base.OnMouseMove(e); if (e.Button == MouseButtons.Left) { scrollPosition.X += clickPosition.X - e.X; scrollPosition.Y += clickPosition.Y - e.Y; AutoScrollPosition = scrollPosition; } } ... you will see that the dragging is not smooth as before, and sometimes behaves weird (like with lag or something). What am I doing wrong? I've also tried removing all "base" calls on a desperate movement to solve this issue, haha, but again, it didn't work. Thanks for your time.

    For a class assignment, I have to use two stacks in C++ to make an equation to be converted to its left to right equivalent: 2+4*(3+4*8) -- 35*4+2 -- 142 Here is the main code: #include <iostream> #include <cstring> #include "ctStack.h" using namespace std; int main (int argc, char * const argv[]) { string expression = "2+4*2"; ctstack *output = new ctstack(expression.length()); ctstack *stack = new ctstack(expression.length()); bool previousIsANum = false; for(int i = 0; i < expression.length(); i++){ switch (expression[i]){ case '(': previousIsANum = false; stack->cmstackPush(expression[i]); break; case ')': previousIsANum = false; char x; while (x != '('){ stack->cmstackPop(x); output->cmstackPush(x); } break; case '0': case '1': case '2': case '3': case '4': case '5': case '6': case '7': case '8': case '9': cout << "A number" << endl; previousIsANum = true; output->cmstackPush(expression[i]); break; case '+': previousIsANum = false; cout << "+" << endl; break; case '-': previousIsANum = false; cout << "-" << endl; break; case '*': previousIsANum = false; cout << "*" << endl; break; case '/': previousIsANum = false; cout << "/" << endl; break; default: break; } } char i = ' '; while (stack->ltopOfStack > 0){ stack->cmstackPop(i); output->cmstackPush(i); cout << i << endl; } return 0; } Here is the stack code (watch out!): #include <cstdio> #include <assert.h> #include <new.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <iostream> class ctstack { private: long* lpstack ; // the stack itself long ltrue ; // constructor sets to 1 long lfalse ; // constructor sets to 0 // offset to top of the stack long lmaxEleInStack ; // maximum possible elements of stack public: long ltopOfStack ; ctstack ( long lnbrOfEleToAllocInStack ) { // Constructor lfalse = 0 ; // set to zero ltrue = 1 ; // set to one assert ( lnbrOfEleToAllocInStack > 0 ) ; // assure positive argument ltopOfStack = -1 ; // ltopOfStack is really an index lmaxEleInStack = lnbrOfEleToAllocInStack ; // set lmaxEleInStack to max ele lpstack = new long [ lmaxEleInStack ] ; // allocate stack assert ( lpstack ) ; // assure new succeeded } ~ctstack ( ) { // Destructor delete [ ] lpstack ; // Delete the stack itself } ctstack& operator= ( const ctstack& ctoriginStack) { // Assignment if ( this == &ctoriginStack ) // verify x not assigned to x return *this ; if ( this -> lmaxEleInStack < ctoriginStack . lmaxEleInStack ) { // if destination stack is smaller than delete [ ] this -> lpstack ; // original stack, delete dest and alloc this -> lpstack = // sufficient memory new long [ ctoriginStack . lmaxEleInStack ] ; assert ( this -> lpstack ) ; // assure new succeeded // reset stack size attribute this -> lmaxEleInStack = ctoriginStack . lmaxEleInStack ; } // copy original to destination stack for ( long i = 0 ; i < ctoriginStack . lmaxEleInStack ; i ++ ) *( this -> lpstack + i ) = *( ctoriginStack . lpstack + i ) ; this -> ltopOfStack = ctoriginStack . ltopOfStack ; // reset stack position attribute return *this ; } long cmstackPush (char lplaceInStack ) { // Push Method if ( ltopOfStack == lmaxEleInStack - 1 ) // stack is full can't add element return lfalse ; ltopOfStack ++ ; // acquire free slot *(lpstack + ltopOfStack ) = lplaceInStack ; // add element return ltrue ; // any number other than zero is true } long cmstackPop (char& lretrievedStackEle ) { // Pop Method if ( ltopOfStack < 0 ) { // stack has no elements lretrievedStackEle = -1 ; // dummy element return lfalse ; } lretrievedStackEle = *( lpstack + ltopOfStack ) ; // stack has element -- return it ltopOfStack -- ; // stack is pop'd return ltrue ; // any number other than zero is true } long cmstackLookAtTop (char& lretrievedStackEle ) { // Pop Method if ( ltopOfStack < 0 ) { // stack has no elements lretrievedStackEle = -1 ; // dummy element return lfalse ; } lretrievedStackEle = *( lpstack + ltopOfStack ) ; // stack has element -- return it return ltrue ; // any number other than zero is true } long cmstackHasAnEle (char& lretrievedTopOfStack ) { // Has element method lretrievedTopOfStack = ltopOfStack ; return ltopOfStack < 0 ? lfalse : ltrue ; // 0 - false stack does not have any ele } // 1 - true stack has at least one element long cmstackMaxNbrOfEle (char& lretrievedMaxStackEle ) { // Maximum element method lretrievedMaxStackEle = lmaxEleInStack ; // return stack size in reference var return ltrue ; // Return Maximum Size of Stack } } ; Thanks, Anthony.

  • Optimize mysql table ?

    - by fabien-barbier
    Here is my actual table schema (I'm using Mysql) : Table experiment : code(int) sample_1_id sample_2_id ... until ... sample_12_id rna_1_id rna_2_id ... until ... rna_12_id experiment_start How can I optimize both part : sample_n_id and rna_n_id (all are bigint(20) and allow null=true) ? About values : we can have : ex : sample_1_id = 2 , Sample_2_id = 5 , ... Note : values can be updated. Ideas ? Thanks.

  • Nested Functions in C - Best Practices

    - by Justin Ethier
    I just realized a function may be defined inside another function in C: void main(){ int foo(){ return 2; }; printf("%d\n", foo()); } Besides being a neat trick, the useful thing about this is that the inner function is private to the outer function. But... is that a good enough reason to do this in a "real-world" application? What are the best practices for using this syntax?

  • Rendering HTML in Java

    - by ferronrsmith
    I am trying to create a help panel for an application I am working on. The help file as already been created using html technology and I would like it to be rendered in a pane and shown. All the code I have seen shows how to render a site e.g. "http://google.com". I want to render a file from my pc e.g. "file://c:\tutorial.html" This is the code i have, but it doesn't seem to be working. import javax.swing.JEditorPane; import javax.swing.JFrame; import javax.swing.JLabel; import javax.swing.JScrollPane; import javax.swing.SwingUtilities; import java.awt.Color; import java.awt.Container; import java.io.IOException; import static java.lang.System.err; import static java.lang.System.out; final class TestHTMLRendering { // ------------------------------ CONSTANTS ------------------------------ /** * height of frame in pixels */ private static final int height = 1000; /** * width of frame in pixels */ private static final int width = 1000; private static final String RELEASE_DATE = "2007-10-04"; /** * title for frame */ private static final String TITLE_STRING = "HTML Rendering"; /** * URL of page we want to display */ private static final String URL = "file://C:\\print.html"; /** * program version */ private static final String VERSION_STRING = "1.0"; // --------------------------- main() method --------------------------- /** * Debugging harness for a JFrame * * @param args command line arguments are ignored. */ @SuppressWarnings( { "UnusedParameters" } ) public static void main( String args[] ) { // Invoke the run method on the Swing event dispatch thread // Sun now recommends you call ALL your GUI methods on the Swing // event thread, even the initial setup. // Could also use invokeAndWait and catch exceptions SwingUtilities.invokeLater( new Runnable() { /** * } fire up a JFrame on the Swing thread */ public void run() { out.println( "Starting" ); final JFrame jframe = new JFrame( TITLE_STRING + " " + VERSION_STRING ); Container contentPane = jframe.getContentPane(); jframe.setSize( width, height ); contentPane.setBackground( Color.YELLOW ); contentPane.setForeground( Color.BLUE ); jframe.setDefaultCloseOperation( JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE ); try { out.println( "acquiring URL" ); JEditorPane jep = new JEditorPane( URL ); out.println( "URL acquired" ); JScrollPane jsp = new JScrollPane( jep, JScrollPane.VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR_AS_NEEDED, JScrollPane.HORIZONTAL_SCROLLBAR_AS_NEEDED ); contentPane.add( jsp ); } catch ( IOException e ) { err.println( "can't find URL" ); contentPane.add( new JLabel( "can't find URL" ) ); } jframe.validate(); jframe.setVisible( true ); // Shows page, with HTML comments erroneously displayed. // The links are not clickable. } } ); }// end main }// end TestHTMLRendering

  • Creating a System::String object from a BSTR in Managed C++ - is this way a good idea???

    - by Eli
    My co-worker is filling a System::String object with double-byte characters from an unmanaged library by the following method: RFC_PARAMETER aux; Object* target; RFC_UNICODE_TYPE_ELEMENT* elm; elm = &(m_coreObject->m_pStructMeta->m_typeElements[index]); aux.name = NULL; aux.nlen = 0; aux.type = elm->type; aux.leng = elm->c2_length; aux.addr = m_coreObject->m_rfcWa + elm->c2_offset; GlobalFunctions::CreateObjectForRFCField(target,aux,elm->decimals); GlobalFunctions::ReadRFCField(target,aux,elm->decimals); Where GlobalFunctions::CreateObjectForRFCField creates a System::String object filled with spaces (for padding) to what the unmanaged library states the max length should be: static void CreateObjectForRFCField(Object*& object, RFC_PARAMETER& par, unsigned dec) { switch (par.type) { case TYPC: object = new String(' ',par.leng / sizeof(_TCHAR)); break; // unimportant afterwards. } } And GlobalFunctions::ReadRFCField() copies the data from the library into the created String object and preserves the space padding: static void ReadRFCField(String* target, RFC_PARAMETER& par) { int lngt; _TCHAR* srce; switch (par.type) { case TYPC: case TYPDATE: case TYPTIME: case TYPNUM: lngt = par.leng / sizeof(_TCHAR); srce = (_TCHAR*)par.addr; break; case RFCTYPE_STRING: lngt = (*(_TCHAR**)par.addr != NULL) ? (int)_tcslen(*(_TCHAR**)par.addr) : 0; srce = *(_TCHAR**)par.addr; break; default: throw new DotNet_Incomp_RFCType2; } if (lngt > target->Length) lngt = target->Length; GCHandle gh = GCHandle::Alloc(target,GCHandleType::Pinned); wchar_t* buff = reinterpret_cast<wchar_t*>(gh.AddrOfPinnedObject().ToPointer()); _wcsnset(buff,' ',target->Length); _snwprintf(buff,lngt,_T2WFSP,srce); gh.Free(); } Now, on occasion, we see access violations getting thrown in the _snwprintf call. My question really is: Is it appropriate to create a string padded to a length (ideally to pre-allocate the internal buffer), and then to modify the String using GCHandle::Alloc and the mess above. And yes, I know that System::String objects are supposed to be immutable - I'm looking for a definitive "This is WRONG and here is why". Thanks, Eli.
