  • Efficiently generate numpy array from list comprehension output?

    Is there a more efficient way than using numpy.asarray() to generate an array from output in the form of a list? This appears to be copying everything in memory, which doesn't seem like it would be that efficient with very large arrays. (Updated) Example: import numpy as np a1 = np.array([1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10]) # pretend this has thousands of elements a2 = np.array([3,7,8]) results = np.asarray([np.amax(np.where(a1 > element)) for element in a2])

  • Second query to SQLite (on iPhone) errors.

    Hi all, On the iPhone, I am developing a class for a cart that connects directly to a database. To view the cart, all items can be pulled from the database, however, it seems that removing them doesn't work. Any ideas? Need to flush something? Something gets autoreleased? I really can't figure it out. --Edit-- The error that I receive is GDB: Program received signal "EXC_BAD_ACCESS". --Edit-- I ended up just connecting in the init and closing in the free methods, which might not be the proper way, but that's another question altogether so it's effectively persistent instead of connecting multiple times. Still would be nice to know what was up with this for future reference.

    I need to generate links in my views using the url helpers such as user_path(@user), the catch is, in some cases I don't know what model I am creating this link for i.e. whether it is a user or a store or someting else I would like to be able to determine this on the fly and call the appropriate view helper, currently I am doing the following, but I am wondering if there is a drier way of doing it. if object.class == "Store" store_path(object) elsif object.class == "User" user_path(object) ...etc

    I've heard that objective-C is a proper superset of C, but is objective-C 2.0? The reason I ask is that either it isn't, or I misunderstand the phrase 'proper superset', because this code is valid C syntax: import int main () { char *nil = "hello"; printf("%s\n",nil); } But does not compile in Objective-C 2.0. Obviously, this is an easily fixable problem, but I'm writing a paper, and feel that this is something that should be pointed out.
