  • Does a syntax for this exist? In any language?

    It seems pretty common to me to have an argument, in a dynamically typed language that is either an Object or a key to lookup that object. For instance when I'm working with a database I might have a method getMyRelatedStuff(person) All I really need to lookup the related stuff is the id of the person so my method could look like this in python: def getMyRelatedStuff(person_or_id): id = person_or_id.id if isinstance(person,User) else person_or_id #do some lookup Or going the other direction: def someFileStuff(file_or_name): file = file_or_name if hasattr(file,'write') else open(file_or_name)

  • How can I send images to x264 one by one?

    I've got an image generator written in C. Now I want to pass those images to x264 to encode them and write it to a file. Every 100th image should be a key frame in order to save the video to disk every 100th frame. The image generator calls onImageGenerated() after each image. I'd appreciate any pointers on how to set up x264 in this way.

    I have an app which acts almost like a daemon. Sometimes it quits on error and many times it prints an error msg then ask users to press any key to close. How can i relaunch the app when either case happens? I am more interested in the 2nd case. I can do this in c++, C# or python. The script is an old python that i dont want to change (a newer c# version is in the works but not stable)

    I read some tutorials on how to read data from a database.properties file- which basically stored key-value pairs. What i want to know is, in which folder should I place this file? Is it in the root (ie "src") or within a package... And how do I access this file, if it is placed in "src"- my code will be within a package (and the package's directory will be under src)- so how do I access the properties file, which is in "src", from a class within a package?

    I created/edited a .htaccess file and I got my site password protected fine. Question though: Is there such thing as a URL key? In that table I want to make a column for the ID of the product, and I really like to now the right way of write ID because I make alot of ID columns in the long run. So is it: "ID" or "Id" ? In this write I insert a row that has foreign key which has the same value for all rows, and this exception occurs: Could not recover transaction. Original exception follows. com.mysql.jdbc.MysqlDataTruncation: Data truncation: Out of range value for column 'idPxxx' at row 1 Only 5% of requests fails to this exceptions, others works. Regards
