  • Inserting a line break from a variable objective c

    I am pulling data into my iphone application using xml. The xml value is then placed in a variable. example variable: 123 London road \n London \n England The variable is then set as a label. I want the line breaks to appear in the label, instead it is printing \n. If i manually set the label value locationLabel.text = @"123 London road \n London \n England" It works as i want it to. Can anyone explain this?

    I have the following: function Preferences() { } Preferences.players = { 'player1': new Player() } players is a static member variable of Preferences and I'm trying to make it an object containing an instance of a Player. However, it doesn't appear to let me do this. It seems like it will allow me to define players if I make it a non-static member variable however. Like so: function Preferences() { var players = { 'player1' : new Player() } } Is it possible to create a static member variable containing instances of an object in JS?

  • Typed DataSet connection - required to have one in the .xsd file?

    In the .xsd file for a typed DataSet in .NET, there's a <Connections> section that contains a list of any data connections I've used to set up the DataTables and TableAdapters. There are times when I'd prefer not to have those there. For instance, sometimes I prefer to pass in a connection string to a custom constructor and use that rather than look for one in settings, .config, etc. But it seems like if I remove the connection strings from that section (leaving it empty), or remove the section entirely, the DataSet code-generation tool freaks out. Whereas if I don't remove them, the DataSet gripes when I put it in a different project because it can't find the settings for those connection strings. Is there any way I can tell a typed DataSet not to worry about any connections? (Obviously I'll have to give it a connection if I change any TableAdapter SQL or stored procs, but that should be my problem.)

    I am currently implementing a graph visualisation tool using lift on the server side and d3 ( a javascript visualisation framework) for all the visualisation. The problem I have is that in the script I want to get session dependent data from the server. So basically, my objective is to write lift-valid ajax callbacks in a static js script. Here is what I tried so far: What I have tried so far If you feel that the best solution is one that I already tried feel free to post a detailed answer telling me how to use it exactly and how it completely solves my problem. REST interface Usually what one would do to get data from a javascript function in lift is to create a REST interface. However this interface will not be linked to any session. This is the solution I got from my previous question: Get json data in d3 from lift snippet Give function as argument of script Another solution would be to give the ajaxcallback as an argument of the main script called to generate my graph. However I expect to have a lot of callbacks and I don't want to have to mess with the arguments of my script. Write the ajax callback in another script using lift and call it from the main script This solution, which is similar to a hidden text input is probably the more likely to work. However it is not elegant and it would mean that I would have to load a lot of scripts on load, which is not really conveniant. Write the whole script in lift and then serve it to the client This solution can be elegant, however my script is very long and I would really prefer that it remainss static. What I want On client side While reviewing the source code of my webpage I found that the callback for an ajaxSelect is: <select onchange="liftAjax.lift_ajaxHandler('F966066257023LYKF4=' + encodeURIComponent(this.value), null, null, null)" name="F96606625703QXTSWU" id="node_delete" class="input"> Moreover, there is a variable containing the state of the page in the end of the webpage: var lift_page = "F96606625700QRXLDO"; So, I am wondering if it is possible to simulate that my ajaxcall is valid using this liftAjax.lift_ajaxHandler function. However I don't know the exact synthax to use. On server side Since I "forged" a request on client side, I would now like to get the request on client side and to dispatch it to the correct function. This is where the LiftRules.dispatch object seems the best solution: when it is called, all the session management has been made (the request is authentified and linked to a session), however I don't know how to write the correct piece of code in the append function. Remark In lift all names of variables are changed to a random string in order to increase the security, I would like to have the same behavior in my application even if that will probably mean that I will have to "give" the javascript these values. However an array of 15 string values is still a better tradeoff than 15 functions as argument of a javascript function.

    I'm building three web applications in .NET that will all share a users database and login information. Lets pretend that application 1 is the "parent" application and applications "A" and "B" are the "child" applications. All users have to be logged into application 1 to have access to applications A and B. Authorization, Authentication, and MachineKey sections of all web configs are present and work correctly. I have the correct web.config settings in all applications to achieve Single Sign On except one problem remains: what do I put in the "loginUrl" attribute of the forms tag in Applications A and B. Assume that the url for the login to application 1 is "www.johnsapp.com/login.aspx" How can I get applications A and B to send the user back to application 1 for authentication using only settings in web.config?

Whenever I open a pdf with: Response.Write("<script>window.open('FilePath');</script>"); All of the font in the page is altered, example, the letter's size increases and some of the letter's colors are switched to black instead of the font that I assigned.   • Error with global variable in php not extending to included php file

    I have an html file that calls has a php section in the header like so: $page = basename($_SERVER['PHP_SELF']); Now further down in the html file I have a included footer like so: <?php include("footer.php"); ?> In this script I am referencing the $page variable, but it doesn't find it. I tried echoing the variable and nothing happened. When I place the basename() code in the footer.php file though, it handled it fine. I'd like to be efficient with the coding, so how can I get the footer.php file to get that $page variable? Is there a better way to do this than including the $page variable twice?

  • Rails Variable across all controller actions

    Hello, This should be a very simple rails question. I have a variable like the following. @administration = Administration.first I want this variable to be accessible through every controller action across all my controllers so for example if I have a Product controller and inside of it I have the usual CRUD actions, I want the @administration variable as defined above to be put into all the CRUD actions. (It would not be needed in destroy or create or update). I have many controllers throughout my project and I was wondering if there is an easier way than adding it manually through all of the actions that I want it in. I tried a global variable $administration = Administration.first but I run into an issue where it is not updated when I update the actual content of the Administration.first table. Also, I would like to avoid global variables. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks! :)

Id been passed to the subreport from the main report. When I run in crystal report it works fine. But I am running on a application, which display the report using crystal reports viewer.(Winform application developed in vb.net) Most of the times when click on the link whick brings the sub-report it comes up with this message The Report Application Server failed It has no details about what the reason is.     Hello. I now have two asp.net pages. When I click on a link on page A, I open the other one (let's call it page B). When I do this, I want to send some information from Page A to Page B in the form of an array of strings. This array is different depending on what link I follow on Page A. I know I could send this information via the URL with the ?string1=bla1&string2=bla2 etc., but I don't want it that way, as it can get complicated if there are too many strings in the array.   • Doing a lot of input validation in VB.NET

    I have a form set up where users can enter their booking for a room at my college. I want to validate the user input to avoid SQL injection (my program uses a MS Access database) and also stop numbers and synbols in their name, etc. I can do the validation fine, but there is to be a lot of validation and then methods executed only if all validation tests come back as true. I did have something like this: If txtName.Text = "" Then frmBookErr.SetError(txtName, "Name field cannot be left blank.") fail = 1 Else frmBookErr.SetError(txtName, "") fail = 0 End If And then check the fail variable, but it obviously gets overridden later in the form if one of the validation tests come back as true. Can anyone provide some input into this? Thanks.

    I have a web page that contains a "div" element. On the page, there is javascript to reference the div: document.getElementById('divId'). This was working fine until another developer redesigned the page to use an ASP master page. Now, document.getElementById('divId') returns null. It appears that ASP.net prepends some characters to the names of elements within contents forms when you use a master page. How can I know what the id of the div is when the page loads? Update Allow me to give a specific example to clarify the question: My page had a div with ID divNotice. After changing my page to use a master page, I see when I print the source to the page that renders that the div ID is ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder1_divNotice. My question is, how am I supposed to know what the div ID is going to be when the framework is done with it?

For instance, if your phone number is 555-555-5555 and your wireless carrier is Verizon, you can send an email to [email protected] and it will show up as a text message. Also please note that my ASP.Net program gets the message from a database (MS SQL Server) so what I really need to know is what characters to include in the message body when I store it in my database. If there are no form errors, I redirect to the same page (using header()) and display the message from the session variable. Everything is fine until here, but if I access that page again after submission, the message is still there. Is it possible to make it appear only when I redirect after a successful submit? I also have a data table and data adaptor, both of which I know work. I am trying to update something in the database, yet it isn't working. Assume everything listed is declared correctly. What am I doing wrong? teacher_control_table.Rows(0)("DATA_TeacherLockPasscode") = txtPasscode1.Text table_adaptor2.Update(teacher_control_table) That last line throws the following exception: InvalidOperationException was unhandled. update requires a valid UpdateCommand when passed DataRow collection with modified rows.
