• deploying a simple html website with eclipse EE & tomcat 7 & router for pc not in LAN

  Hello everyone and thanks for your time, first of all - I want to make a note - I can see the website from my own pc which is the only one connected to the (netgear dgn1000) router, and I can do so with several browsers on my pc, but - when I try and do a port forwarding so that I could access this simple html file (which in the way would use a simple servlet class) I can't seem to view it I have configured my router (both the "services" and the "firewall" sections), and I have also changed my LAN properties according to my ISP's explanation (via phone) : instead of choosing the "obtain an IP address automatically" I have chosen the "use the following IP address, with IP address of 10.0.0.1 (this was also set in the router's port forwarding), Subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, default gateway by checking the same value as seen in the cmd when executing the command ipconfig /all after doing so I've changed the DNS to use the address (just the preferred and not the alternate one) given with the ipconfig /all and still - nothing :/ is it something in my network settings or in my deployment of the eclipse/tomcat ? any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks :)

• Turn off the display on remote PC

  Hello. I'm fixing some bugs in the application for remote control (remote desktop-like) for Windows. And there is a feature that you can blank screen on remote machine - all the programms keep running unaffected, but the person who looks into the display on remote PC sees nothing but black screen. It is implemented by sending IoCtl request IOCTL_VIDEO_SET_OUTPUT_DEVICE_POWER_STATE, which is undocumented. And this request does not work on Vista and above. Are there another ways to do what I want? In fact, SendMessage(-1,WM_SOMMAND,SC_MONITORPOWER,2) does the trick, but screen turns back on if someone toches keyboard/mouse.

• Documenting software architectures that serve multiple markets

  Hello, I'm the lead developer/architect wanna-be on a J2EE based system/platform at work that serves both real estate and automotive markets. The systems consists of a set of database back ends, web services and two web clients. The platform ends up serving 3 different products: an internal vehicle inventory system for use by company analysts, an external dealer management system (commercialized product), and a real estate inventory system (commercialized). In other words, it follows a software product lines approach....My question is, I'm having trouble communicating to other technical and some business people how this platform architecture is one system that serves multiple markets (by leveraging some existing assets combined with minor modifications)....Is there a formal modeling language that can simplify communicating this intent? I should note that I haven't read much about software product lines, so I'm not sure if there is actually a standard modeling approach to SPL that i'm not aware of....I'm also interested in knowing if there are special configuration management practices for such systems. thanks,

  I'm trying to set up a simple clojure project, and I'm not sure how to load files between the project. I'm sure that the answer is in the documentation, but I can't find a simple answer any where and I'm not sure where to look. Essentially, my directory looks like this: Clojure/ clojure/ clojure.jar other clojure files clojure-contrib/ clojure-contrib.jar other contrib files project/ main.clj utils.clj And I want main.clj to be something like this: (ns project.main (:require project.utils)) (greet) and utils.clj to be something like this: (ns project.utils) (defn greet [] (println "Hello, World!")) But that fails with: Exception in thread "main" java.io.FileNotFoundException: Could not locate project/utils__init.class or project/utils.clj on classpath: (main.clj:1) When I attempt to run it. How do you set up a simple clojure project?

I found one method HomeScreen.setBackground(url), but it doen't works on Blackberry Curve. • Browser gets blocked, workers to the rescue?

  Hello, I use JavaScript for rendering 20 tables of 100 rows each. The data for each table is provided by controller as JSON. Each table is split into section that have "totals" and have some other JavaScript logic code. Some totals are outside of the table itself. As a result JavaScript blocks browser for a couple of seconds (especially in IE6) :( I was consideting to use http://code.google.com/p/jsworker/, however Google Gears Workers (I guess workers in general) will not allow me to make changes to DOM at the worker code, and also it seems to me that I can not use jQuery inside jsworker worker code. (Maybe I am wrong here?). This issue seems to be fundamental to the JavaScript coding practice, can you share with me your thoughts how to approach it?

• Tabbed browsing, programaticaly navigating to another open tab

  Hello, I'm in a discussion with my co-worker. We have a web application in a tabbed browsing environment, say with 2 tabs open. Tab2 has a link to tab1, when I click the link, it opens tab1 in a new tab. We want to detect if tab 1 is already open, if so then set focus to tab1 (and not open a new window). He has gotten this working in a broswer window environment, but says it is not possible in a tabbed environment. Is it possible to for javascript to determine if tab1 is already open and then just set focus to that tab? Thanks in advance!

  hello there. building a site which has content for each section. urls range from; /work/ /work/print/ /work/print/folders etc. however, at any point a user can click on an article so; /work/article/1066 /work/print/article/1066 /work/print/folders/article/1066 using .htaccess i need to detect when there is 'article' in the url and set some different variables. RewriteRule ^([a-zA-Z0-9\-]+)/([a-zA-Z0-9\-]+)/([a-zA-Z0-9\-]+)/([a-zA-Z0-9\-]+)/$ sets index.php?level1=$1&level2=$2&level3=$3&level4=$4 but if 'article/([0-9-]+)' is in the url, say /work/print/article/1066 return index.php?level1=$1&level2=$2&articleID=1066 basically the amount of levels will always be different but i'd like to return those as needed. another example would /work/print/folder/archive/article/1066 return index.php?level1=$1&level2=$2&level3=$3&level4=$4&articleID=1066 any help appreciated!   Hello there, my job is to access a CPRBA-server-application from .NET 3.5. After evaluating projets like IIOP.Net (undefined state) and products like VisiBroker (expensive) I'd like to do it "by myself" and write a .Net-Wrapper around C++-Stubs generated my Omniidl (the Omniorb IDL to C++ generator). This means writing some kind of layer of managed code (CLI) around the unmanaged C++ code. My question is: Has anyone experience in this topic? I honestly don't know how to do it the best way. Right now I plan to create a managed class for every unmanaged class, each managed class itself has a member to an instance of the unmanaged class, which is not garbage-collected. Is this the right way to do it or am I on the wrong path? Thanks in advance!

  Hello, I'm doing a university project, that must gather and combine data on a user provided topic. The problem I've encountered is that Google search results for many terms are polluted with low quality autogenerated pages and if I use them, I can end up with wrong facts. How is it possible to estimate the quality/trustworthiness of a page? You may think "nah, Google engineers are working on the problem for 10 years and he's asking for a solution", but if you think about it, SE must provide up-to-date content and if it marks a good page as a bad one, users will be dissatisfied. I don't have such limitations, so if the algorithm accidentally marks as bad some good pages, that wouldn't be a problem.

For example: var obj1 = $("<tag></tag>"); var obj2 = obj1.append("something"); Will obj1 and obj2 be the same meaning obj2 will reference obj1? UPDATE: The above example kind of scratches the surface of what i want to know, a more accurate question is : If i chain function from the jQuery api will they return the same object or a new one (as the case with strings in Java)?

• C# - What should I do when every inherited class needs getter from base class, but setter only for O

  Hello, I have a abstract class called WizardViewModelBase. All my WizardXXXViewModel classes inherit from the base abstract class. The base has a property with a getter. Every sub class needs and overrides that string property as its the DisplayName of the ViewModel. Only ONE ViewModel called WizardTimeTableWeekViewModel needs a setter because I have to set wether the ViewModel is a timetable for week A or week B. Using 2 ViewModels like WizardTimeTableWeekAViewModel and WizardTimeTableWeekBViewModel would be redundant. I do not want to override the setter in all other classes as they do not need a setter. Can I somehow tell the sub class it needs not to override the setter? Or any other suggestion? With interfaces I would be free to use getter or setter but having many empty setter properties is not an option for me.

• Seam-gen isn't working properly.. log4j acuses an error

  Hello Seam Users, I'm having a couple problems with my Seam start up. I did the ./seam generate to reverse my current postgres db, which contains 4 tables, first I though everything was okay, just a warning message, but when I imported the project into eclipse, I saw that none of my packages had any class. This is the error that seam generate, got me. [hibernate] Executing Hibernate Tool with a JDBC Configuration (for reverse engineering) [hibernate] 1. task: hbm2java (Generates a set of .java files) [hibernate] log4j:WARN No appenders could be found for logger (org.hibernate.cfg.Environment). [hibernate] log4j:WARN Please initialize the log4j system properly. [javaformatter] Java formatting of 0 files completed. Skipped 0 file(s). Any ideas? The seam-gen was supposed to generate some entity classes, but its not. I suppose that error is causing the mis-behavior. Regards

I'm thinking about creating a real project using Roo and what i would like to know is: Why AOP is everywhere? Is That ok? What are advantages and disadvantages of this approach?   Hello R comrades: I have a bunch of loglinear models, which, for our purposes will just be glm() objects called mx, my, mz. I want to get a nicely-formatted xtable of the analysis of deviance, so naturally I would want to perform xtable(anova(mx, my, mz, test = "Chisq")). The vanilla output of xtable, however, doesn't include the model specifications. I'd like to include those for all the ANOVA tests I'm running, so if there is not a param I'm missing that does this I'll probably just have to hack up my own solution. But looking over the help page, there doesn't seem to be an easy way to include the model specifications. Any thoughts? Alternatives? If it helps this was done in 2.9.1 with xtable 1.5-5.

  Hello there, so here is my problem: I have several different configuarion servers. I have different calculations (jobs), I can predict how long approx. each job will take to be caclulated. Also I have priorities. My question is how to keep all machines loaded 99-100% and shedule the jobs in the best way. Each machine can do several calculations at the time. Jobs are pushed to the machine. Central machine knows current load of each machine. Also I would like to to assign some king of machine learning here, because I will know statistics of each job (started, finished, cpu load etc.). How to distribute jobs(calculations) in the best possible way, also keep in mind priority. Any suggestions ? Ideas ? Algorithms ?

And it is not my intention to sound like a complete moron, but honestly, I have had a hard enough time figuring out just how to load an external .swf into my main file! And now my friend is asking me if I could please add a button within the external .swf which will unload itself and load a new on in its place... I have looked around in the forums for an answer for a while now and I believe it is time for me to break down, admit defeat, and ask for help. Can someone please tell me it's not that difficult..?   Hello, i often work on private projects using the WinApi, and as you might know, it has thousands of named and typedefed structs like MEMORY_BASIC_INFORMATION. I will stick to this one in my question, what still is preferred, or better when you want to name a variable of this type. Is there some kind of style guide for this case? For example if i need that variable for the VirtualQueryEx function. Some ideas: MEMORY_BASIC_INFORMATION memoryBasicInformation; MEMORY_BASIC_INFORMATION memory_basic_information; Just use the name of the struct non captialized and with or without the underlines. MEMORY_BASIC_INFORMATION basicInformation; MEMORY_BASIC_INFORMATION information; Short form? MEMORY_BASIC_INFORMATION mbi; I often see this style, using the abbreviation of the struct name. MEMORY_BASIC_INFORMATION buffer; VirtualQueryEx defines the third parameter lpBuffer (where you pass the pointer to the struct), so using this name might be an idea, too. Cheers

All I wanted to do was to have the value of the users 'fullname' displayed in the header section of my web page. So I am outputting this code immediately after to try and achieve this: echo 'Hello '; echo $row['fullname']; Before this change, I had it working perfectly, where the session variable of fullname was echoed $_SESSION['SESS_NAME']. However, because my user can update their information (including their name), I wanted the name displayed in the header to be updated accordingly, and not displaying the session value.

I know how to get the top 10 but I`m stuck on getting the remaining in a single row. Is there a simple way to do it? For example if the above query returns 17 records the top ten are displayed and a sum of the users from the 7 remaining country should appear on row 11.
