• Connecting Android app to MySQL database

  Can somebody help me with question related with MySQL database using? Yesterday i was making app for getting some text data and sending them to database located on remote server! I was making POST request to database and sent few text fields to one table in database. So MY QUESTION IS: "Can I use MySQL directly (not though POST method )? and how to use it ?" (will be so glad to see url to solutions or examples) P.S. when i was sending data to server i have some errors in database fields when sending russian characters (what type of encoding sending from my app to server????)

• How can I compare two jpeg encoding and other inormations

  We have created a Driver programe which connect to a remote host using FTP and mount the remote host as a network drive. So when I try to copy some data it copies using FTP retrieve request and then paste it to the destination. The copy paste works fine as we can see the source file size and destination size are same. But while we try to open the .jpg file that is being copied , says no preview. I suspect there must be some bytes that is being corrupted while we try to copy and paste. Is there any tools so that I can compare both source and destination to get the differences.

• jquery ajax call: multiple links load data into one div

  I have a dynamically generated list of links. Each link will request a different page to load. Depending on the link clicked I want it to fill the div with an ajax .load call. The thing is I want all links to reset and fill the same div. I am having trouble doing this without making a seperate div for each link, which isn't what I'm looking for.   This is a dangerous question, so let me try to phrase it correctly. Premature optimization is the root of all evil, but if you know you need it, there is a basic set of rules that should be considered. This set is what I'm wondering about. For instance, imagine you got a list of a few thousand items. How do you look up an item with a specific, unique ID? Of course, you simply use a Dictionary to map the ID to the item. And if you know that there is a setting stored in a database that is required all the time, you simply cache it instead of issuing a database request hundred times a second. I guess there are a few even more basic ideas. I am specifically not looking for "don't do it, for experts: don't do it yet" or "use a profiler" answers, but for really simple, general hints. If you feel this is an argumentative question, you probably misunderstood my intention.

  Hi all, I am currently having a problem since the DB has been changed. I am using Datasets for a c# application, and there is a user management system. For the security issues, our current DB design is like user log into app. DB returns a session ID On use of any other stored procedures, a session ID must be specified. BUT, the DB didn't request session ID before. since I am using the datasets, I used update/insert/delete stored procedures with "TableAdaptor Configuration Wizard". Bind Commands to Existing Stored Procedures (choose stored procedures to call and specify any reuiqred parameters) Now, it seems like I have to specify session ID for Insert/Update/Delete stored procedures. How do I specify session ID parameter here? It seems like I have to pick one return parameter variable from a select statement. Thanks,

  This is probably a very strange request. I need to programmaticaly (via code) change the IP where a domain name is pointing to. IE: xyz.com points to 100.100.100.100 setIP('xyz.com','100.100.100.100'); I know this [code] is practically impossible, however, what I need is to do this via domain host API etc or other possible ways you might think of. I'd be happy even if it weren't anything more then sending an email to the DNS owner/host. Do you know of anything the like or which might help?   I am trying to implement order management module. There are different order types (approximately about 15). Each order has a seperate view. But the actions performed on UI are same irrespective of order type. Below is the structure of my DTO abstract class Order abstract class SecurityOrder extends Order abstract class TermDepositOrder extends Order ..... ..... ..... I am trying to implement a single controller capable of managing all views. Something similar to the one below: @Controller public class OrderController<F extends Order> { public F validate(F order) { } public F insert(F order) { } } I am not sure how spring mvc would be able to map request parameters properly to the order instance as it doesn't know which order instance to populate. Is it possible to achieve this with single controller or should I go with a controller for each order type and duplicate same code across all controllers?

• Issues with start activity for result

  I have written an Activity using Theme.Holo.Dialog so that it works as an AlertDialog as a login/password notice. I've started this activity with startActivityForResult(...) using a request code I defined. The thing is, whenever I start the activity ´onActivityResult(...)´ is triggered immediately, the buttons get loaded and everything, but once I press them, even though I know the Activity is working because login does happen, there is no result sent back to the first Activity and I am calling setResult(...) and finish() after the buttons are pressed. Thanks in advance, first time using startActivityForResult so I'm sure I must be missing something.

How could I use that with the code above, making sure It paginates results from the peer method? • Proper mechanism for sending PHP errors to the client

  Greetings, I was trying to discover a proper way to send captured errors or business logic exceptions to the client in an Ajax-PHP system. In my case, the browser needs to react differently depending on whether a request was successful or not. However in all the examples I've found, only a simple string is reported back to the browser in both cases. Eg: if (something worked) echo "Success!"; else echo "ERROR: that failed"; So when the browser gets back the Ajax response, the only way to know if an error occurred would be to parse the string (looking for 'error' perhaps). This seems clunky. Is there a better/proper way to send back the Ajax response & notify the browser of an error? Thank you.

• Looping in filemaker using a local variable

  Been programming in C# for a little bit - trying to use file maker and I cant believe it but I cant even get a simple for loop to work. What I want to do is simple: loop through for the amount of entries in my "amountOfRooms" field and create an entry in a table for each room. Sounds so simple, but I cant get it to work. Right now I have this: Set Variable[$cnt[Customers::AmountOfRooms]; value:1] Go to Layout["rooms"(Rooms)] Loop Exit Loop If[$cnt = Customers::AmountOfRooms] New Record / Request Set Variable[$cnt; Value: $cnt + 1] End Loop Exit Script No new records are created. I know the script is running because it does go to my layout, but doesnt create any new records. There is a "Repetition" field for my local variable - not sure how to use that or what it means? Any thoughts on how to do this simple loop? Thanks.

• Need to include #anchor after querystring list

  Hello, Form is 'get' to a API which operates off of querystring. One of the parameters is a PackageID which indicates a vacation package. In order for the packageID to appear I also need to append '#packages' to the end of the get request. Since not all form 'get' have a package I need this to be dynamic. I've tried adding a hidden field with '#packages' as the value - however the '#' is automatically encoded and therefore not registered when the server grabs the URL. What would be the best way for me to dynamically include '#packages' as it appears in the querystring via javascript? Thanks!

• How can I decrease time opening myisam table in an "union all" of the same table??

  I have a myisam table with 2.5M rows, I use an union all to get my results as following: (SELECT t.id FROM t WHERE type=1 LIMIT 10) UNION ALL (SELECT t.id FROM t WHERE type=2 LIMIT 10) ... UNION ALL (SELECT t.id FROM t WHERE type=25 LIMIT 10) the time to opening the table t is about 6ms. With a single request: SELECT t.id FROM t WHERE type=1 LIMIT 10 the time is about 1ms. What I don't understand is why mysql spend more time to the same table in union all. It should recognize that is the same table and so just opening at the first union. Does anybody can help me to decrease the time for opening table in a "union all"? Thanks in advance!

  Is it possible to tell if there are any ongoing 'GET' requests with javascript? I have a feeling that it is not. Basically I don't want to make a seperate request while the other "more important" requests are going as this one is fairly heavy. So I was curious if it is possible to tell if there are currently 'get' requests going and if so I can tell my function to hold off for this update and do it again in 10-15secs. Any information etc would be appreciated.

• How to reduce latency of data sent through a REST api

  I have an application which obtains data in JSON format from one of our other servers. The problem I am facing is, there is is significant delay when when requesting for this information. Since a lot of data is passed (approx 1000 records per request where each record is pretty huge) is there a way that compression would help reducing the speed. If so which compression scheme would you recommend. I read on another thread that they pattern of data also matters a lot on they type of compression that needs to be used. The pattern of data is consistent and resembles the following :desc=>some_description :url=>some_url :content=>some_content :score=>some_score :more_attributes=>more_data Can someone recommend a solution to how I could reduce this delay. They delay is approx 6-8 seconds. I'm using Ruby on Rails to develop this application and the server providing the data uses Python for the most part.

• Redirect issues

  Whoever wrote the navigation for the site I’m currently working on (classic asp) points the navigation links to a folder, then inside to folder has an index.asp file, so the urls will look something like this www.mysite.com/myfolder/mysubfolder Now, when watch the page load using httpfox, I notice that the first entry is a 302 redirect to the same address with a “/” on the end, so www.mysite.com/myfolder gets redirected to www.mysite.com/myfolder/ (note the / on the end). I’m not to worried that it’s a 302 since its in the admin section of the site, but when I forward the host headers from ISA server, for an https request, its being redirected from https://www.mysite.com/myfolder to http://www.mysite.com:443/myfolder/ and causing all kinds of problems. Anyway, I can’t seem to find any code making this redirect happen, so does IIS 6 do this because the url points to a folder? Or do I need to comb through the code more closely?

• What is the best instance type to use for hosting a website on ec2?

  Amazon offers two instance types on EC2: 1) On-Demand and 2) Reserved. After reading the docs on these, I don't really understand the difference from an end-user perspective. More specifically, I'd like to know the answer to this question: is one or the other better for web applications? Based on their names and descriptions, it seems as though on-demand instances may get wiped away from the server altogether if they're not in use which means that they need to be restarted when a request finally does come in. That seems like a pretty bad thing for a website. Am I just misinterpreting the docs? Thanks!

Since I was seeing so many new functions in python that I do not know, I was wondering if there is a function that can request 10000 lines from a file in python. Something like this is what I expect if that kind of function exist: lines = get_10000_lines(file_pointer) Did python have a build-in function or is there any module that I can download for this? • .NET grouping forms so that pulling up the primary form shows all other forms?

  I have an app that can open up some other forms at the user's request, and they're set to not show in the taskbar. The problem is, if one of the secondary windows becomes hidden by another app, switching to the primary window only brings that form to the forefront. Is there a good way to "group" the forms so that giving any of them focus brings the whole group to the front? I tried calling BringToFront() on each form in the primary form's Activated event, but that also gives the secondary forms focus, making it impossible to interact with the primary form.

• Why there is so few AJAX (WEB 2.0) websites ?

  I am wondering and looking for some general reasons why there is so few full AJAX websites. Good example would be Gmail, which really uses a lot of the modern web technologies. But there is so few of these and almost all the websites use classic "request - pageload" approach. I am going to be developing website with most requests completed by AJAX call, as there is need for as few page loads as possible. So I am looking for some general advices or opinions about this. My personal big concern is search engines, because if most of the content is at one URL, how do you make that AJAX content crawlable ? There are probably more these questions which rise up, and I am looking for these to prepare for these problems before I start developing and it's too late to fix them.
