These are my tables. student table: SID (primary) student_name advisor (foreign key to faculty.facultyID) requested_advisor (foreign key to faculty.facultyID) faculty table: facultyID (primary key) advisor_name I want to query a table that shows everything in the student table, but I want advisor and requested_advisor to show up as names, not the ID numbers. so like it displays like this on the webpage: Student Name: Jane Smith SID: 860123456 Current Advisor: John Smith Requested advisor: James Smith not like this Student Name: Jane Smith SID: 860123456 Current Advisor: 1 Requested advisor: 2 SELECT student.student_name, SID, student_email, faculty.advisor_name FROM student INNER JOIN faculty ON student.advisor = faculty.facultyID; this comes out close, but I don't know how to get the requested_advisor to show up as a name.

Postfix removing domain from user names before passing to Dovecot for IMAP authentication

In IMAP authentication with Dovecot, Postfix is stripping the domain name from virtual users who share a name with a local user, causing them to fail authentication. Virtual users without local accounts don't have this problem. How can I prevent this? Failing an answer, how can I debug Postfix to see what's going on? I've turned on every debugging option I can get, and I'm not seeing anything helpful in the logs.

DesignMode with Controls

Has anyone found a useful solution to the DesignMode problem when developing controls? The issue is that if you nest controls then DesignMode only works for the first level. The second and lower levels DesignMode will always return FALSE. The standard hack has been to look at the name of the process that is running and if it is "DevEnv.EXE" then it must be studio thus DesignMode is really TRUE. The problem with that is looking for the ProcessName works its way around through the registry and other strange parts with the end result that the user might not have the required rights to see the process name. In addition this strange route is very slow. So we have had to pile additional hacks to use a singleton and if an error is thrown when asking for the process name then assume that DesignMode is FALSE. A nice clean way to determine DesignMode is in order. Acually getting Microsoft to fix it internally to the framework would be even better!

Opening a Silverlight project causes APPCRASH is Visual Studio 2008

Hi guys I've got to add a Silverlight project to a solution for a deployment procedure (it's a pre-build dependency for the main project). I've installed Silverlight tools v3, silverlight itself and the silverlight sdk 3, and am using Visual Studio 2008 with ReSharper and the DevArt oracle database tools. Every time I go to open the relevant silverlight .csproj file VS crashes with the following error message: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: devenv.exe Application Version: 9.0.30729.1 Application Timestamp: 488f2b50 Fault Module Name: StackHash_20af Fault Module Version: 6.0.6001.18000 Fault Module Timestamp: 4791a7a6 Exception Code: c0000374 Exception Offset: 000b015d This also happens if I try to create a new silverlight project from scratch. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have a named_scope in rails that finds episodes by there directors given name named_scope :director_given, lambda { |dr| {:joins => :director, :conditions => ['given = ?', dr]} } It works great but I would like it to also work on substrings one the name. e.g. instead of having to search for 'Lucy' you could just search 'Lu'. P.S. I also have another named scope which does exactly the same thing but on the directors last name. It there a way to combine the two? Thanks,

Why is that? b) As far as I know, square brackets enclosing object’s name aren’t actually a part of that name. Thus, if we create a table named [A]: CREATE TABLE [A] ( … ) we can later reference it without using brackets: SELECT * FROM A But why isn’t the same true when I try to reference a column KEY from a table returned by CONTAINSTABLE function? Here is a simplified version of one of my models: class ImportRule(models.Model): feed = models.ForeignKey(Feed) name = models.CharField(max_length=255) feed_provider_category = models.ForeignKey(FeedProviderCategory, null=True) target_subcategories = models.ManyToManyField(Subcategory) This class manages a rule for importing a list of items from a feed into the database. The admin system won't let me add an ImportRule without selecting a feed_provider_category despite it being declared in the model as nullable. The database (SQLite at the moment) even checks out ok: >>> .schema ... CREATE TABLE "someapp_importrule" ( "id" integer NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY, "feed_id" integer NOT NULL REFERENCES "someapp_feed" ("id"), "name" varchar(255) NOT NULL, "feed_provider_category_id" integer REFERENCES "someapp_feedprovidercategory" ("id"), ); ... acts_as_solr returns all rows in the database when using the model as search query

In our application we're using acts_as_solr for search. Everything seems to be running smoothly except for the fact that using the model name as the search query returns every single row in the table. For example, let's say we have a users table. We specify acts_as_solr in our model to search the fields first name, last name and handle acts_as_solr :fields = [:handle, :lname, :fname]. When you use "user" as the search term it returns every single user in the system, or every row in the database as a result. Has anyone else run into this?

Hi, well I am having a problem renaming the ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib.dll file to anythig else. I am trying to shorten the file name. I reference the assembly in the project, but when the program reaches the statements where I use the library. It spawns an error that it could not find the assembly or file 'ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib'. When I change the file name back to ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib.dll the application works noramally. So, is there any way to change the file name. Also, am I allowed to change it without violating the license (I am going to use it in a commercial application). Thanks.
