    Hello All: I am creating an Asp.net web site which will support dynamic data. When I am creating a dynamic web site from Scratch (from template in VS) all is working fine. But when I am trying to add dynamic entity (.edmx) file and running the application I am getting following error "The method 'Skip' is only supported for sorted input in LINQ to Entities. The method 'OrderBy' must be called before the method 'Skip'. " Please help Thanks Vinay

    Crystal reports isn't working on different servers because they use different connection strings and crystal reports can't use the connection string stored on the web.config to access the database. Is there an alternative to crystal reports that can use the connection string on the web.config file? or does someone know how to fix the problem using crystal reports? thanks.

  • Specifying a relative path in web.xml when debugging a servlet with Eclipse's WTP Tomcat Server?

    I'm trying to specify a relative directory in the web.xml file. I basically want it to read the "data" folder underneath "web-inf", but nothing I've tried seems to work. "/data" translates to the data folder in the root directory (I'm using windows). "data" translates to "C:\Program Files\Eclipes\data" "${CATALINA_HOME}/[etc...]" doesn't seem to work either. Any ideas?

    I'm looking for a good open source web editor that will take xsd (or some other standard XML) and from that generate web forms that will enable the end user to generate standard xml (without knowing anything about xml obliviously). I took a look at kupu, but there doesn't seem to be much documentation and the site appears to no longer exist. Is there anything out there that does this already. I could write something like this myself, but if there's something that out there that will save me some time that would be great. Thanks

    I have a serializable POCO called DataUnification.ClientData.ClientInfo in a .NET class library project A. It's used in a parameter for a web service defined in project B: public XmlDocument CreateNewClient(ClientInfo ci, string system) I now wish to call this web method from project C and use the original DataUnification.ClientData.ClientInfo type in the parameter. However due to the generated proxy class it has now become a different type: WebServices.ClientDataUnification.DataUnificationWebService.ClientInfo. As far as .NET is concerned these are not the same types. How can I get around this?

Is there any benefit to expose web services from the class library and reference these as opposed to referencing the actual .dll (Although one benefit of the web service approach is the granularity and thus surface area exposed is up to you at coding time)?     I have a web service project that needs to be set to use Integrated Windows Authentication after installation. Normally, I would install the web service, then manually go to IIS and make sure the box is checked for Integrated Windows Authentication. There has to be a way to do this through code. I have looked up on using the Installer class. It looks like this is something I could use, but I have not found anything on setting properties programmatically in IIS.

  • Letting users trial your web app before sign-up: sessions or temp db?

    I've seen a few instances now where web applications are letting try them out without you having to sign-up (though to save you need to of course). example: trial at http://minutedock.com/ I'm wondering about doing this for my own web app and the fundamental question is whether to store their info into sessions or into a temp user table? The temp user table would allow logging and potentially be less of a hit on the server correct? Is there a best practice here?
