  I'm using this code to play a different mp3 files with every call. The first time through works great. • Delphi Clientdataset Lookup/Aggregate

  Hi, I need a little help with ClientDatasets in Delphi. What I want to achieve is a grid showing customers, where one of the columns shows the number of orders for each customer. I put a ClientDataset on a form and load Customers.xml from Delphi demo-data. Another ClienDataset is loaded with orders.xml. Relatively simple, I can define an aggregate on the orders CDS showing the total amount per customer (or the count). (See Cary Jensens article on this: http://edn.embarcadero.com/article/29272) The problem is getting this aggregate result from orders dataset into the customer dataset. It is kind of an reverse lookup, since there is a 1-n relationship between customers and orders, not an n-1 as normally in lookup scenarios. Any ideas ? Søren

• Instant Messenger: How does gtalk/yahoo messenger populate the contact list?

  Hi All, We are currently working on a small IM project which pretty much works like gtalk and yahoo messenger. We came across a problem that puzzled us how gtalk/ym populate their contact lists. Given that the user has let's say more or less 500 contacts, both IMs seem to readily load the contacts pretty fast and already sorted. Here are my questions(referring to either): Does it cache its contacts, like saving it in a file somewhere upon exit so that upon log-in it readily extracts the contacts and displays it in its contact list? Does it always request for the VCARDS upon log in? OR they have a VCARD push or whatever that simply updates the contacts' profiles (like that of their status [presence push - available, busy, etc...] )?

• Why is Visual Studio 2008 slow with Firefox?

  I am using Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2008 Express. I've made an ASP.NET MVC site which has 6 CSS files and 6 Javascript files in the HEAD element in the Site.Master file. When I do F5 or CTRL-F5 in Explorer or Opera, the site displays instantly. When I run my site in Firefox, it takes a SECOND for each CSS and each Javascript file on LOCALHOST, i.e. 12 seconds to load on localhost. What might I be able to change in the Firefox settings so it is as fast as Opera and Explorer? NEW INFO: Uninstalled Firebug completely, no yslow, no other add-ons. When I take out the CSS and Javascript files, then Firefox is as fast as the other browsers. What could be taking it so long on a local connection?

• C# getting version of unmanaged dll

  I'm calling an unmanaged dll from my managed c# code and wanted to check I'm calling the right version. The code I'm trying to load the assembly (to then get the resource file and then get the version) is: cur_version = Assembly.LoadFile("X:\Workspace\yreceipts_pos\yRprintProcessor\Debug\yRprintProcessor.dll"); It's failing because of this error: The module was expected to contain an assembly manifest. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131018) Does anyone know how to get around this or have a better way to check the version of an unmanaged dll from managed c# code? Thanks in advance, Richard

• Entity Framework associations killing performance

  Here is the performance test i am looking at. I have 8 different entities that are table per type. Some of the entities contain over 100 thousand rows. This particular application does several recursive calculations on the client so I think it may be best to preload the data instead of lazy loading. If there are no associations I can load the entire database in about 3 seconds. As I add associations in any way the performance starts to drastically decline. I am loading all the data the same way (just calling toList() on the entity attached to the context). I ran the test with edmx generated classes and self tracking entities and had similar results. I am sure if I were to try and deal with the associations myself, similar to how I would in a dataset, the performance problem would go away. On the other hand I am pretty sure this is not how the entity framework was intended to being used. Any thoughts or ideas?

  In VS 2008, when I create a project I can add a setup project easily. File-Add-New Project... then in Project types: select Other Project Types-Setup and Deployment - and there are a whole load of installed templates - including Setup Project to create an MSI installer. But in VS 2010 - there are no templates in the Setup and Deployment - I'm using the Pro edition, not Express or beta: Is this the same for you - or do I have a duff installation of VS 2010? Otherwise how do I create an MSI installer for my projects?

• iPhone OpenGLES textures - colour banding

  I've got a problem with openGL on iPhone which I'm sure must have a simple solution! When I load a texture and display it, I get a lot of what I believe is called 'Colour Banding', whereby the colours, particularly on gradients, seem to get automatically 'optimized'. Just to demonstrate that this wasn't anything wrong with my own code, I downloaded the iPhone 'Crashlanding' app and replaced the background image, and as you can see in the image below (Taken from the simulator), the exact same thing happens. The image on the left is the original PNG, and on the right is it in the game. It's almost as if it's palette is being downsized to a 256 colour one. Screenshot I'm sure this is related to the format I'm saving the image as, although it doesn't just happen with PNG's, it seems to happen no matter what image format I chose. Doing my head in! If you want to recreate this, simply download the crash landing app, and replace the background. Thanks so much in advance for any help.

  When allocating a new BSTR with SysAllocString via a wchar_t* on the heap, should I then free the original wchar_t* on the heap? So is this the right way? wchar_t *hs = new wchar_t[20]; // load some wchar's into hs... BSTR bs = SysAllocString(hs); delete[] hs; Am I supposed to call delete here to free up the memory? Or was that memory just adoped by the BSTR?

  I have a UIWebView in UITableView, I have this on storyboard: The UIImageView is my future NavBar and the UIWebView is in the UITableView, I have this configuration: -UIImageView -UITableView -UIWebView -UITableViewCell When the UIWebView load the pages (I Have local pages) I want that it takes dynamically their size and for this I have this code: [detailWebView setFrame:CGRectMake(0.,0.,detailWebView.frame.size.width,[[detailWebView stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString:@"document.body.scrollHeight;"] intValue])]; The problem is when the loaded page is long, my UIWebBrowser hide the cells and didn't push them to get cells at the bottom. I don't understand why I have this, when I resize the UIWebBrowser in the storyboard I don't have this problem but I want to do it programmatically Thanks,

• iphone: custom UITableViewCell taller than the default cell view.

  Hello, I'm creating an application that consists of a ListView with 5 rows: - 1st one containing a graph - 2nd to 5th rows containing some data with the same formatting. I have created 2 classes: GraphCustomViewCell and DataCustomViewCell. Depending upon the position of the cell I load the correct CustomCell with: NSArray *topLevelObjects = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"GraphCustomViewCell" owner:nil options:nil]; for(id currentObject in topLevelObjects) { if([currentObject isKindOfClass:[GraphCustomViewCell class]]) { cell = (GraphCustomViewCell *)currentObject; break; } } That works fine except that the first row, the one corresponding to the graph, is bigger (in height) that the 4 other rows, and as a results it hides the 3 first other rows. Is there any option in the table view that enables the custom cell to expand the default cells ? I'd like that the 5 rows (graph + 4 data rows) to fit the entire screen (480 - tabbar's height).   iPhoneOS 3.2 I use NSKeyedUnarchiver's unarchiveObjectWithFile: to load a custom object that contains a single large NSData and another much smaller object. The dealloc method in my custom object gets called, the NSData object is released, its retainCount == 1 just before. • JavaEE Application Server or Lightweight Container?

  Let me preface this by saying this is not an actual situation of mine but I'm asking this question more for my own knowledge and to get other people's inputs here. I've used both Spring and EJB3/JBoss, and for the smaller types of applications I've built, Spring (+Tomcat when needed) has been much simpler to use. However, when scaling up to larger applications that require things like load balancing and clustering, is Spring still a viable solution? Or is it time to turn to a solution like EJB3/JBoss when you start to get big enough to need that? I'm not sure if I've scoped the problem well enough to get a good answer, so please let me know. I'm preserving the whitespace but it's dropping the encoded #x2028 which I assume should be expressed as a line break.   I am load testing my webservice and get a System.ServiceModel.CommunicationException when I use 10 threads to communicate to it (without any sleep in between) - basically testing 10 conenctions at a time - through a windows application An error occurred while receiving the HTTP response to http://localhost/XXX/XXXService.asmx. This could be due to the service endpoint binding not using the HTTP protocol. This could also be due to an HTTP request context being aborted by the server (possibly due to the service shutting down). See server logs for more details. Why would this happen and how to best resolve it

• Optimize loading an XAP file with an asp.net website

  I've been developing a game using Silverlight 4 and silversprite (http://silversprite.codeplex.com/) This game is HEAVILY content dependent, using a lot of audio and images. My content folder is around 90 mbs worth of stuff. And because of that, my XAP file is around 60 MB, and takes 5 minutes to download from the website before any user can start playing. I am using Visual Web Developer 2010 to create my site and load the XAP. Is there a way where I can take content out of my XAP and put it in my ASP.net site project? Or perhaps upload my content files to the site's storage? This would make my XAP file much quicker to download. Anyone have suggestions? Thanks!

  I'm working with shape files in GeoDjango. Right now I'm trying to write a test for code that loads in a shape file and saves it to a database. The shape file currently has a feature count of 64,118. I'd like to reduce this to a handful so the test can quickly load it and confirm everything is right. Since shape files aren't in a text format, is there a free application or library I can use to pluck out a handful of features and save them to a new file? I should mention I don't have a license nor access to any of the ESRI product line.

  Hello, I am after a very lightweight template engine that supports / can be embedded inside Android programs. I've looked at the MiniTemplator (I think that is how you spell it) and that looks great but it loads in only from file and I need to load templates from string and I am not fully confident in changing that code lol. Can anyone recommend a very lightweight (preferably no jars, single source files etc) that I can use ? I do not need it to parse XML or anything like, just normal HTML files with keywords embedded into them betwee %% tags etc. Regards Anthoni

• Trying to debug a plugin in tuxguitar, need help building the project in Eclipse.

  I am not too familiar with java / eclipse but I am trying to debug a plugin in TuxGuitar. The plugin is the gtp plugin which allows reading of guitar pro files. I have imported the main project, TuxGuitar, and the TuxGuitar-gtp plugin. I have all build dependencies configured and the project builds. However, when I debug the app, the plugin is not available. The documentation says plugins are loaded from the share/plugins folder and they are jar files. I tried exporting the gtp plugin as a jar into the share/plugins folder, but it still does not load when I debug. Is there some sort of configuration I need to do in Eclipse? Thanks!

  I have the following JS: $('#listeditdialog').dialog('open'); Which opens the following dialog: $('#listeditdialog').dialog({ autoOpen: false, resizable: false, position: ['center',150], width: 450, open: function(event, ui) { $("#listeditdialog").load("/projects/view/tasks/ajax/?listid=" + XXXX); }, close: function(event, ui) { $("#listeditdialog").html('<p id="loading"> </p>'); } }); My Question is when I use the dialog open function in another JS function, how can I pass a listID variable which I would get fom the click even bind that fired the dialog open func.
