  • Best way to structure AJAX for a Zend Framework application

    Sorry, but there's a lot of outdated and just plain bad information for Zend Framework, since it has changed so much over the years and is so flexible. I thought of having an AJAX module service layer, with controllers and actions that interact with my model. Easy, but not very extensible and would violate DRY. If I change the logistics of some process I'll have to edit the AJAX controllers and the normal controllers. So ideally I would load the exact same actions for both javascript and non-javascript users. I have thought about maybe checking for $_POST['ajax'], if it is set I would load a different (json'y) view for the data. Was wondering how/a good way to do this (front controller plugin I imagine?) or if someone can point me to an UP TO DATE tutorial that describes a really good way for building a larger ajax application. thx

  • I would like to know how to put a "change image" layer like in facebook on a mouseover event

    Hello: I have a photo gallery I would like that every time a user does mouseover the image, there is a button on the top of this image that appears. The user can click on it. But every time that the user mouse out of the photo it must disappear. It works like the "change photo" in Facebook, with the photo of your profile. The problem I am having is that when I try to get over the button that appears (in my code is a link), it disappear because javascript understands that the mouse is just out of the image, even if this button/link is over the image. The image that I use is positioned absolutely over the image.     Hi all, I have some javascript making an ajax call in my Rails site: $.ajax({type: "PUT", url: url, data: { dummy: data }, complete: function(data) {}}); When Rails gets it, it throws back an ActionController::InvalidAuthenticityToken Error. I'd like to keep the protect_from_forgery stuff in there, if possible... But I'm at a loss for how can I pass the auth token from a javascript file? Can anyone help me out?

  • Behavior of local variables in JavaScripts with()-statement

    I noticed some weird (and to my knowledge undefined behavior, by the ECMA 3.0 Spec at least), take the following snippet: var foo = { bar: "1", baz: "2" }; alert(bar); with(foo) { alert(bar); alert(bar); } alert(bar); It crashes in both Firefox and Chrome, because "bar" doesn't exist in the first alert(); statement, this is as expected. But if you add a declaration of bar inside the with()-statement, so it looks like this: var foo = { bar: "1", baz: "2" }; alert(bar); with(foo) { alert(bar); var bar = "g2"; alert(bar); } alert(bar); It will produce the following: undefined, 1, g2, undefined It seems as if you create a variable inside a with()-statement most browsers (tested on Chrome or Firefox) will make that variable exist outside that scope also, it's just set to undefined. Now from my perspective bar should only exist inside the with()-statement, and if you make the example even weirder: var foo = { bar: "1", baz: "2" }; var zoo; alert(bar); with(foo) { alert(bar); var bar = "g2"; zoo = function() { return bar; } alert(bar); } alert(bar); alert(zoo()); It will produce this: undefined, 1, g2, undefined, g2 So the bar inside the with()-statement does not exist outside of it, yet the runtime somehow "automagically" creates a variable named bar that is undefined in its top level scope (global or function) but this variable does not refer to the same one as inside the with()-statement, and that variable will only exist if a with()-statement has a variable named bar that is defined inside it. Very weird, and inconsistent. Anyone have an explanation for this behavior? There is nothing in the ECMA Spec about this.

    I have two links with classes (login-form and register-form) relevant to their target forms ID, they want to toggle. I have also a predefined 'slideToggle' function to toggle better. This is what I have tried so far: $('#userbar a').click(function() { var c = $(this).attr('class'); $('#userbar a').removeClass('active'); $(this).toggleClass('active'); $('#register-form,#login-form').hide(); //bad, causing flashy $('#' + c).slideToggle('slow'); return false; }); With this I have trouble with the flashy window, and to correctly toggle the active classes when another link is clicked, the other link should not have active class anymore. Additional problem is the link is dead on serial clicks. I have another try, longer one: $('#userbar a').click(function() { var c = $(this).attr('class'); switch (c) { case 'login-form': $('#' + c).slideToggle('slow'); $(this).toggleClass('active'); $('#register-form').hide(); break; case 'register-form': $('#' + c).slideToggle('slow'); $(this).toggleClass('active'); $('#login-form').hide(); break; } return false; }); This one is worse than the first :( Any suggestion to correct the behavior? What I want is when a link with class login-form is click, so toggle the form with ID login-form, and hide the register-form if open. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

  • Injecting a response value into a textarea to subsequently post

    I have multiple notes with class=.note and unique id each inside a div. On click of edit I grab the id, show hidden form #noteditor and hide all notes. I am using the load function to get the response (using codeigniter so url does work) and input result in the editorfrorm Textarea id = upnote... Firebug response looks ok and I have tried to inject into a div and this works fine, BUT getting this injto the text area is causing me some headaches. There is also the chance that i am going around this a convoluted way due to my limited knowledge...   • is it possible to start coda slider on a hidden div?

    i have a div id=holder, and inside a coda slider. it works alright, but to avoid the flickering in certain browsers, i decided to make holder display:none, and then display:block on $(document).ready The problem is that, for some reason, when the parent div is display:none, the coda slider doesnt have any effect. any workarounds or ideas for this issue? thanks!
