Dropdown list bound to object data source - how to update on a button click

This is probably something really stupidly simple.. I have a drop down list bound to an object data source. I have set AppendDataBoundItems to true so that I can have an initial select. <asp:DropDownList ID="Accommodations1" runat="server" AutoPostBack="true" DataTextField="AccommodationTypeDescription" DataValueField="Id" OnDataBound="Accommodations1_DataBound" onSelectedIndexChanged="Accommodations1_SelectedIndexChanged" Width="200px" DataSourceID="AccommodationDs" AppendDataBoundItems="true"> <asp:ListItem Text="Select" Value=""></asp:ListItem> </asp:DropDownList> <asp:ObjectDataSource ID="AccommodationDs" runat="server" OldValuesParameterFormatString="original_{0}" SelectMethod="ListByPropertyId" TypeName="PropertyAccommodationController"> <SelectParameters> <asp:Parameter Name="PropertyId" Type="Int32" /> </SelectParameters> </asp:ObjectDataSource> I have a button which adds an accommodaton - so after that happens I need the dropdown list to update to include the new accommodation. So I've tried calling databind on the dropdownlist, and databind on the datasource - and nothing is making this dropdown list update. eg. PropertyAccommodations1.DataBind(); Could someone please let me know what I'm doing wrong. Originally I thought it was due to an update panel issue.. but I've removed the update panel and it still doesn't work (and checked the master page doesn't include an update panel). Thanks!!

Turn image in google maps V3?

Hi, I need help with JavaScript in google map v3 I have an image and I need to be able to turn it. That works, but the real problem it's that I cant afect an marker cause I don't know how to call it and modify this marker. Show content with fancybox like a Javascript Alert

I try to show the content from a PHP-file in a fancybox but I can't handle it. Now it's the following situation: If a file permission problem occures a <div id="error"> is shown on the website. I'd like to have the content from <div id="error"> in fancybox. Everything I try I get the notice "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later." That means the fancybox, it the file permission error occures, should be shown when the page is loading and not like usual shown when some events like click or mouseover. For example, if the error exists, the following content should be shown in the fancybox: <div style="width:100px; height:100px; background:#f00;"> <p>Failure</p> </div> This snippet is located in a file security_check.php. Now there are two possibilities. The 1st is to load the security_check.php directly into the fancybox or to put in the mentioned above snippet. So: how to load file contents into the fancybox?

js loading page message not working on php file

Merry Christmas guys, I found a code that displays a loading message using a gif. It uses the onLoad="init()" in the body tag. It works fine on an HTML file but it doesn't when the file is in PHP. Radio buttons change variable in JavaScript

I have two fields which calculate a total, but I have a radio button pair that determines a variable within the equation. Masonry js won't bunch images vertically

The images are being aligned horizontally correctly but they are all spaced out vertically.. Take a look here http://brstudios.co.uk/testing to see what I mean properly.. WPF: How do I bind a Control to a formula composed of several dependency properties?

Hi all, I'm working on Expression Blend and I'm currently designing a custom control which has a Grid with 5 rows inside, and also has two Dependency properties: "Value", and "Maximum". Three of the rows have fixed height, and what I'm trying to do is set the remaining rows height to "Value/Maximum" and "1-Value/Maximum" respectively. How do I go and do that? When I set the height to "Value" it seems to react, but when I go and set it to "Value/Maximum" it stops working. I'm still a bit new around WPF, so there must be another way to achieve what I'm intending, but after searching I couln't find my problem elsewhere. CSS - Why is this invisible margin being applied to my <a> tag css-button?

I was having trouble with two types of buttons. It was a form button and a css button basically. And I was advised that the css button whould use display:inline-block; This made the whole a href tag actually look like a button. But this invisible margin seems to be screwing up something. I tried separating them into separate css classes, but oddly, applying a real margin to the css button gives an additional margin as well. What's causing this? How to use JSF h:messages better?

My Objective is to use h:messages to convey user - error and confirmation messages.The CSS styles to show these two different messages are different, In fact I would like to use an image beside the confirmation message. for Eg: <tr> <td><img/></td><td><h:msg></td> </td>. So I tried to add messages to the Faces Context based on 2 different client ids <tr> <td height="5"> <h:messages style="color:darkred" id="error_message" /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td width="89%" class="InfoMsg" align="center"> <h:messages id="confirm_message" /> </td> </tr> and in the java layer FacesMessage facesMessage = new FacesMessage(Constants.saveMessageConfirm); FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addMessage(Constants.STATIC_CONFIRM_MSG_CLIENT_ID, facesMessage); But, even if i add messages to client Id confirm_message - and only to confirm_message - and not to error_message - The message is shown twice in 2 different styles (refer the HTML above) 2 Questions : 1) What is the problem here? 2) If I want to show the image inside a td in the second tr and conditionaly show that second tr when confirm messages are present - what is the best way? Omit Properties from WebControl Serialization

I have to serialize several objects inheriting from WebControl for database storage. These include several unecessary (to me) properties that I would prefer to omit from serialization. For example BackColor, BorderColor, etc. Here is an example of an XML serialization of one of my controls inheriting from WebControl. <Control xsi:type="SerializePanel"> <ID>grCont</ID> <Controls /> <BackColor /> <BorderColor /> <BorderWidth /> <CssClass>grActVid bwText</CssClass> <ForeColor /> <Height /> <Width /> ... </Control> I have been trying to create a common base class for my controls that inherits from WebControl and uses the "xxxSpecified" trick to selectively choose not to serialize certain properties. For example to ignore an empty BorderColor property, I'd expect [XmlIgnore] public bool BorderColorSpecified() { return !base.BorderColor.IsEmpty; } to work, but it's never called during serialization. I've also tried it in the class to be serialized as well as the base class. Since the classes themselves might change, I'd prefer not to have to create a custom serializer. Any ideas?

Set DetailsView as selected row of GridView

I am afraid this is a brain fart question. But I have searched around and have not been able to find the answer. I am creating a GridView/DetailsView page. I have a grid that displays a bunch of rows, when a row is selected it uses a DetailsView to allow for Insert/Update. My question is what is the best way to link these? I do not want to reach out to the web service again, all the data i need is in the selected grid view row. I basically have 2 separate data sources that share the same "DataObjectTypeName", the first data source retrieves the data, and the other to do the CRUD. What is the best way to transfer the Selected Grid View row to the Details View? .Net in HTML tp return true if reader object not null, otherwise return false

I'm using a DataList to show some data from the database and populating the fields on the html side. I now have a requirement to change the visibility of a panel based on whether or not a db field has data or not. I need to be able to show the panel if the relevant data field has content, and hide it if it doesn't. Eg: <asp:Panel ID="pnlNew" runat="server" Style="margin:0; padding:0; width:42px; height:18px; bottom:5px; right:10px; float:right; position:relative; background:url(../_imgVideoBadge.png) no-repeat;" Visible='<%# Eval("cheese") != null %>' ToolTip="available"></asp:Panel> Obviously this doesn't work in terms of the visible property. But hopefully it gives an idea of what I'm trying to achieve. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've seen examples previously of doing something along the lines of: a ?? b:c How could this be applied to the above requirement?? Thanks in advance.

WPF Single Selection Across Multiple ItemsControls

Part of my app has a month-view calendar interface, but I'm having trouble with item selection. The interface is set up so that each of the days in the view contains a ListBox of items, much like the month view in Outlook. The problem I'm experiencing is that I need to maintain a single item selection across all of the ListBoxes. Below is a sample window that should adequately describe my situation. I need to maintain a single selection between both ListBoxes. <Window x:Class="StackOverflow.MainWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="MainWindow" Height="350" Width="525"> <Grid> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition /> <ColumnDefinition /> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ListBox ItemsSource="{Binding Numbers}" SelectedItem="{Binding SelectedObject"/> <ListBox Grid.Column="1" ItemsSource="{Binding Dates}" SelectedItem="{Binding SelectedObject"/> </Grid> </Window> In this primitive example, I would expect that when the SelectedObject property of my view model gets set to an item that's not in one ListBox, the selection would be removed in that ListBox, but that doesn't happen. I understand that I can simply name each ListBox, and hook into the SelectionChanged event. I'd prefer to not have to do that with an entire month-view calendar. There has to be a better way. In a previous iteration of the app, I was able to create a SelectionManager static class with an attached property that was used to maintain selection. However, I can't use this now as the classes I'm using for my items are not DependencyObjects, and I'd really prefer not to have to create DependencyObject wrapper classes as this will considerably complicate my architecture. We unfortunately find ourselves having to support our product in IE 6 because some of our largest users use it. One of them called today and told me that one of the dropdowns doesn't work when he clicks on it - it simply selects the first item. I checked the markup and the entire contents of the select control are being sent: <select onchange="SDateFilter_S('#ctlDateRange')" size="1" name="ctlDateRange" style="width:100px;"> <option selected="selected" value="0"> All Dates </option><option value="1"> Within </option><option value="2"> Before </option><option value="3"> After </option><option value="4"> Between </option><option value="5"> Last </option><option value="6"> Since </option> </select> This is done in ASP .NET but I am fairly certain the issue isn't with ASP .NET as when I try it in my copy of IE 6, it works correctly. Do you have any idea what would cause a dropdown list in some copies of IE 6 to effectively not work?

CSS3 Border Radius property doesn't work in localhost?

I'm having a very strange problem with css3 border radius property. My following CSS and html works fine with IE9 if i double click the file and open with the IE9 , however if the border property does not work in IE if i open the file through LOCALHOST (xampp insatlled on windows 7). The same file works fine on localhost with other browsers. JavaScript functions in footer

I'm currently using html5 boilerplate, which puts jQuery and your plugins into the footer. The only problem is, I use the same footer.php file in every page. How do I go about including page specific functions if the plugins aren't loaded yet? I.e. <?php include_layout_template('header.php', '../');?> <div id='mediaspace'>This text will be replaced</div>  <script type='text/javascript'> jwplayer('mediaspace').setup({ 'flashplayer': '../resources/player.swf', 'file': 'http://content.longtailvideo.com/videos/flvplayer.flv', 'controlbar': 'bottom', 'width': '470', 'height': '320' }); </script> <?php //This file has the jwplayer function in it: include_layout_template('footer.php', '../'); ?> Doing this I get Uncaught ReferenceError: jwplayer is not defined Is it going to be easier to just put the plugin includes in the header? How do people usually tackle stuff like this in boilerplate/loading scripts at the end?
