• Deleting a cookie in Javascript not working

  I have a site where authentication is done externally (which I can't access), so I'm creating a cookie on login in order to display a welcome message to the user. Creating the cookie works fine, I write to document.cookie when the login form submits. But deleting the cookie doesn't work. • php, js - echoing a number based on how many children there are?

  Creating a site in with FrogCMS and using alot of jquery to create an all in one screen site. having trouble in php echoing a number for the number of children for a subject in the database which i can then use as a var in js. some things ive tried, but im not really a developer so having issues here is some code frog supplies to show to utilise articles for example, and articles then has childen in the database. find('/articles/'); ? children(array('limit' = 1, 'order' = 'page.created_on DESC')); ? but im not sure how to create a discrete number to use with the jquery concerning the number of children?? thanks

For example, everybody knows that a comes before b when performing an ascending sort on a string in MySQL. But what about other characters? Does the dollar-sign $ come before asterisk * ? Does a space come before an exclamation-mark? etc... What dictates the sort order? Does it use underlying ascii / UTF-8 values? Is it different for different technologies? • Detecting metadata-only read requests in windows filesystem

  Hello, I'm developing a kind of filesystem driver. All of read requests that windows makes to my filesystem goes by the driver implementation. I would like to distinguish between "normal" read requests and those who want to get only the metadata from the file. ( Windows reads first 4K of the file and then stop reading ). Does Windows mark this metadata reads in some way? It would be very useful in order to treat that two kind of operations in a different way. In a typical CreateFile call, we have AccessMode, ShareMode, CreationDisposition and FlagsAndAttributes parameters ( being DWORD ), i'm not sure if it's possible to extract some clue of the operation requested. • jQuery UI dialog positioning

  I am trying to use the jQuery dialog UI library in order to position a dialog next to some text when it is hovered over. The jQuery dialog takes a position parameter which is measured from the top left corner of the current viewport (in other words, [0, 0] will always put it in the upper left hand corner of your browser window, regardless of where you are currently scrolled to). However, the only way I know to retrieve the location is of the element relative to the ENTIRE page. The following is what I have currently. position.top is calculated to be something like 1200 or so, which puts the dialog well below the rest of the content on the page. $(".mytext").mouseover(function() { position = $(this).position(); $("#dialog").dialog('option', 'position', [position.top, position.left]); } How can I find the correct position? • PHP PDO - bindValue PARAM_BOOL as string

  I'm freaking out here and can't figure out what's wrong. I'm pretty new to PDO, but everything works in my code except for booleans which are sent as strings. My code (simplified): $sql = 'SELECT * FROM pages WHERE clean_url_slo = :clean_url_slo AND published = :published LIMIT 1'; $clean_url_slo = 'home'; $published = true; Then I prepare stuff and execute it like this (simplified): $stmt = $db->prepare($sql); $stmt->bindValue(':clean_url_slo',$clean_url_slo,PDO::PARAM_STR); $stmt->bindValue(':published',$published,PDO::PARAM_BOOL); $stmt->execute(); And then here is what comes to mysql (from the mysql log - the query mysql received): 91 Query SELECT * FROM pages WHERE 1=1 AND clean_url_slo='domov' AND published='1' ORDER BY id desc LIMIT 1 As you can see, published is an integer - so always true, which is not OK. Why is that if I'm declaring it as a boolean? using: WAMP SERVER PHP version: 5.3.9 Mysql: 5.5.20 Many thanks for your help..

• Why do we need Web-Api? [closed]

  I was just wondering what the deal is with Asp.net Web-Api. Why did we need a separate type of controller in order to facilitate varying content types for action results? Why wasn't this capability just baked into the ASP.Net MVC base controller? Anyway, I was just wondering if there was a compelling reason to use both types of controllers within the same project, assuming that the project was being freshly created, or if this project structure was due to an inherent technical limitation. Would it be possible to have ApiControllers fulfill the purpose of an MVC Controller in all cases by just serving HTML when that is the specified accept type? It just seems to me like a lot of unnecessary repetition to have to re-implement the same types of actions using both types of controllers if you want those actions to be available to your web application through the API and through the web interface.

  Here is my current issue. I need to display a tree like structure displaying a recall roster. Our DBA created a stored procedure that returns [level],[name],[contact_info]. Example looks like: [1] [test name1] [contact info] [2] [sub to1] [contact info] [3] [sub to2] [contact info] [4] [sub to3] [contact info] [3] [sub to2] [contact info] [2] [sub to1] [contact info] etc... It's sorted in the order of the hierarchy I haven't really worked with XML much but is that the way to go in loading/presenting this data. Currently when I retrieving the data I'm returning it in a datatable. There may also be a need to export this data to Excel. Can anyone point me a good direction to go with this?

  I need to search through a directory which contains many sub directories, each which contain files. The files read as follows question1234_01, where 1234 are random digits and the suffix _01 is the number of messages that contain the prefix, meaning they are apart of the same continuing thread. find . -name 'quest*' | cut -d_ -f1 | awk '{print $1}' | uniq -c | sort -n example output: 1 quest1234 10 quest1523 This searches for all the files then sorts them in order. What I want to do is print all the files which end up having the most occurrences, in my example the one with 10 matches. So it should only output quest1523_01 - 11

  I need to store data in memory where I map one or more key strings to an object, as follows: "green", "blue" -> object1 "red", "yellow" -> object2 I need to be able to efficiently receive a list of objects, where the strings match some boolean criteria, such as: ("red" OR "green") AND NOT "blue" I'm working in Java, so the ideal solution would be an off-the-shelf Java library. I am, however, willing to implement something from scratch if necessary. Anyone have any ideas? I'd rather avoid the overhead of an in-memory database if possible, I'm hoping for something comparable in speed to a HashMap (or at least the same order of magnitude).

I can imagine that i could do this with 2 selects. (first select total number of users and then order the entries descending by age and select the first entry).   I am working on a widget that is a lot like twitters widget where there is a list of postings and a view more button. I can get it to work with using ID variables but I would like to sort by popular posts. Here is my mysq code: $sql = "SELECT id, title, category, icon_normal, status, description, views_monthly FROM posts WHERE views_monthly<=".$lastPost." AND status='1' ORDER BY views_monthly DESC LIMIT 9" So the problem that I am having is it shows the first 9 just fine. When it gets to the point where views_monthly = 0 then it just loads the same 9 post over again. How do it get it to switch to using ID when it reaches Views_monthly = 0 and load fresh posts?

  I've been racking my brain about how to do this in one query without PHP code. In a nutshell, I have a table that records email activity. For the sake of this example, here is the data: recipient_id activity date 1 delivered 2011-08-30 1 open 2011-08-31 2 delivered 2011-08-30 3 delivered 2011-08-24 3 open 2011-08-30 3 open 2011-08-31 The goal: I want to display to users a single number that tells how many recipients open their email within 24 hours. E.G. "Users that open their email within 24 hours: 13 Readers" In the case of the sample data, above, the value would be "1". (Recipient one was delivered an email and opened it the next day. Recipient 2 never opened it and recipient 3 waited 5 days.) Can anyone think of a way to express the goal in a single query? Reminder: In order to count, the person must have a 'delivered' tag and at least one 'open' tag. Each 'open' tag only counts once per recipient.
