    Is there a general class or ID for a html element that a high majority of popular adblockers will block on a website it has no information for. My intention is to have my advertisement blocked, avoiding automatic blocking is easy enough... I was thinking of maybe lending some ids or classes from big advertisment companies that area already being fought off quite actively. right now my html <ul id=partners> <li class=advertisment><a href=# class=sponsor><img class=banner></a></li> </ul> Will this work or is there a more solid approach?

    i have a fashion website. i had redirected my domain htttp:// (non www) to http:// www domain and my preferred domain in Google webmaster tools was http:// www. Now i have redirected http:// www to http:// domain and have changed my prefered domain as well. Now Google PageRank is not showing for even a single page.   • URL hex characters in .htaccess

    There is an old page with a space in the filename, and this is no longer found on the website. So I need to redirect this page to another page using a 301 redirect in .htaccess. If I place the filename directly into .htaccess (Bouquets%20%26%20Loose.html), the redirect does not work. If I escape the % sign like this (Bouquets\%20\%26\%20Loose.html), the redirect still does not work. How do I get this redirect to work in .htaccess? Thanks.

    I have a script, and now it's the perfect time to have an option to change theme templates. I was looking forward to store these files in php files, or html files. with CSS file. I looked over some codes and I found that they use brackets to refer to the variable. Here's an example of a template block: <div class='block_div'> <center>{title}</center> {content} </div> I know that I can use PHP vars usering <?=$var;?>. However, I think the one above is better, and I looked over the web to find anything about it but I couldn't. My Question is how I can use these brackets in my php or html code. to let the user changing the template only not the code!

  • What's the best language to use for a simple windows 7 dynamic gui desktop app [closed]

    [Note: I hope I am not breaking etiquette, but I originally posted a variant on this question here, but am re-asking here because I am making this now solely a question about programming.] I would like to program of the following simple form: The user can produce X number of resizable frames (analogous to HTML frames). Each frame serves as a simple text editor, which you can type into and save the whole configuration including resized windows and text. The user should be able alternately "freeze" and present the information, and "unfreeze" and edit frames. Thus it will be a cross between a calendar and a text editor. I don't particularly care if it is a web application or not. What languages are ideal for such a setup? I know some C and Python and Html, and am willing to learn others if need be. It seems to me this should be a relatively easy program to make, but I need a little direction before starting. EDIT: My OS is Windows 7.

See the code below I written, RewriteRule ^(.*)/$ ?page=$1 [NC] This will rewrites urls like www.mysite.com/abc/ to www.mysite.com/index.php?page=abc. But if I request www.mysite.com/abc then it is throwing an 404 error. How can I write a rewrite rule which will match www.mysite.com/abc and www.mysite.com/abc/ both?     DETAILS I have a website that's content is in English. It is a niche website with a global market. However I would like users to be able to find the website using their own language. The scenario I envision is that the searcher is looking for the English content, but is searching in their own language. An example could be someone looking for "downloadable English crosswords." MY IDEAS Buy ccTLDs and have them permanently redirect to subdirectories on domain.com. The subdirectories would contain html sitemaps in the target language e.g.-Redirect domain.fr to domain.com/fr OR perhaps it would be better to maintain domain.fr as an independent site in the target language with the html sitemap linking to pages on domain.com ? QUESTION Are the above methods good/bad? What are some other ways I can optimize SEO for foreign languages?

Content is first reviewed by webmaster Webmaster sends out congratulations email, "Your article has been published, here is the link: http://www.mywebsite.com/new-page.html" I would like to include in the congratulations email, "Click on this link to share your article with your friends on facebook" The link I am using is the following: http://www.facebook.com/share.php?u=http://www.mywebsite.com/new-page.html If I paste it into the address bar and I am logged in it works fine and facebook parses the new page for meta data and displays Page title and description. However, when clicking on the link from my newsletter, I am redirected to the login page, even though I am logged in, and after logging in, I am sent to my profile page and the share is not posted.

At what percent of clicks should you turn on prefetching of the next page? 65%? Also, does the calculus change if the current page is HTTP and the next page is HTTPS?

  • Browser Alert -- cannot download links using Internet Explorer

    Internet Explorer ( ie8, ie9 ) is mangling downloads from this blog. Links to files on this blog ( eg., dirstats ) are typically downloaded using browser:  R-click, SaveAs This works fine on Chrome, Firefox and Safari.  Internet Explorer is not handling the html reference to the file, and adds .html to the filename.   The file will be saved in an incorrect format.   Relatively harmless for a script file that is plain text, but binary files like obiaix.tar.gz , will be corrupted, and there is nothing you can do about it. "Don't get corrupted, get rid of cable  Internet Explorer, use firefox"  ( sorry, US TV advert reference ) The useful part of the compressed tar file is that you don't have to worry about Windows line-end characters corrupting the scripts, and you don't have to change execution permissions to get the scripts to work. dos2unix dirstats   chmod +x dirstats

    have installed 12.04 Desktop 64 bit, manually installed LAMP, phpmyadmin, php5-dev,PEAR, PECL, apc, ssh, created user to own /var/www/ and transferred 3 sites to /www/. sites are in subfolders, sites - available all configured, and enabled. One site is pure html, two athers - php. Enabled curl, but phpmyadmin started at first, also php sites, than stopped working /show blank pages/ sites said Clean urls cannot be enabled. Html site still working. Where is the problem, and why the php sites stop working? In all apache .conf files Allow Override is set to ALL. php sites have .htaccess files. And this configuration worked with Ubuntu 10.04.

But to write a theme, they need to be able to modify the generated HTML, thus the concept of View. In other words, they should be capable to either modify current views, or create new views from scratch, to fit their requirements. However, now we're not sure that we're taking the right path.     Recently I've learned that using a regex to parse the HTML of a website to get the data you need isn't the best course of action. So my question is simple: What then, is the best / most efficient and a generally stable way to get this data? I should note that: There are no API's There is no other source where I can get the data from (no databases, feeds and such) There is no access to the source files. (Data from public websites) Let's say the data is normal text, displayed in a table in a html page I'm currently using python for my project but a language independent solution/tips would be nice. As a side question: How would you go about it when the webpage is constructed by Ajax calls?

    I've a problem that I can't find the solution for on the web. I have a blog that has PR 1 and it's subdomain "aaaa.domain.com" that "domain.com" is a blog server. Now I want buy a domain "newdomain.com" and I want tell google webmaster to redirect the old subdomain to this new domain and send traffic to my new domain. I can't access .htaccess to use a 301 redirect. The only thing that I can do is put html code in the html. How can I do this? When I use "Change of Address" in google webmaster it say:"Restricted to root level domains only".

  • Programming jobs for a science based degree [on hold]

    I am currently in my last year of a Masters in Physics at Uni and I am looking to go into a job that is mainly programming based. As part of my course we have learnt C++, Matlab and as a hobby I taught myself HTML, CSS, JAVA and a bit of JavaScript. After getting to this stage in my degree I've realised that its actually the programming side of Physics that I enjoy most. I've been working on a few Android apps & websites in my spare time but only things that utilize what I know in JAVA, HTML etc. Using Physics in programming is good fun but I don't want to limit myself just to Physics based jobs. I just want to know a few things: What kind of jobs can I apply for that would require the kind of skills I already posses/can work towards possessing in a year Can I compete with graduates who have had a lot more programming in their course for example Computer Science? Are there any specific extra things I need on my CV before I start applying for these jobs?

    Do I have to have a sitemap page on my index page for bots to read it or can I just have it anywhere on my server? I have a phpbb/wordpress integration and I need 2 sitemaps mods for each one (or I need to have them somehow integrated together into one xml sitemap). Is this possible? Whats my best option? I would have the phpbb one something like this: http://www.example.com/phpbb/sitemap.html and the wordpress one something like this: http://www.example.com/wordpress/sitemap.html and then I would submit both off..but not have the links on my footer to confuse anyone.., the sitemaps would strictly be for search engines. Is this a good idea? what are you thoughts?
