• Running CodeIgniter cron on localhost

  I'm trying to get a cron job to run every 5 min on my localhost. Using the Cronnix app I entered the following command 0,5 * * * * root curl http://localhost:8888/site/ > /dev/null The script runs fine when I visit http://localhost:8888/site/ in my browser. I've read some stuff about getting CI to run on Cron, using wget and various other options but none make a lot of sense. In another SO post I found the following command wget -O - -q -t 1 http://www.example.com/cron/run What is the "-O - -q -t 1" syntax exactly? Are there other options?

• Fastest way to move records from an Oracle database into SQL Server

  Ok this is the scenario... I have a table in Oracle that acts like a queue... A VB.net program reads the queue and calls a stored proc in SQL Server that processes and then inserts the message into another SQL Server table and then deletes the record from the oracle table. We use a DataReader to read the records from Oracle and then call the stored proc for each of the records. The program seems to be a little slow. The stored procedure itself isn't slow. The SP by itself when called in a loop can process about 2000 records in 20 seconds. But when called from the .Net program, the execution time is about 5 records per second. I have seen that most of the time consumed is in calling the stored procedure and waiting for it to return. Is there a better way of doing this? • I can't find a DirectX installer to run from my installer.

  I tried this one. But it's the annoying one which asks you where to extract temp files, my users won't know what this means. I also tried the web installer, but you're not strictly allowed to use this. I don't really follow the windows setup stuff, but is there a single .EXE I am allowed to distribute and run, which just works (for DX 9.0C) with some command-line args? Or some other way, which can can described in idiot-proof steps and and called in one command-line argument from an installer script like Inno?

• Stop MSVC++ debug errors from blocking the current process?

  Any failed ASSERT statements on Windows cause the below debug message to appear and freeze the applications execution. I realise this is expected behaviour but it is running periodically on a headless machine so prevent the unit tests from failing, instead waiting on user input indefinitely. Is there s a registry key or compiler flag I can use to prevent this message box from requesting user input whilst still allowing the test to fail under ASSERT? Basically, I want to do this without modifying any code, just changing compiler or Windows options. Thanks!

• Python - Is it possible to get the name of the chained function?

  I'm working on a class that basically allows for method chaining, for setting some attrbutes for different dictionaries stored. The syntax is as follows: d = Test() d.connect().setAttrbutes(Message=Blah, Circle=True, Key=True) But there can also be other instances, so, for example: d = Test() d.initialise().setAttrbutes(Message=Blah) Now I believe that I can overwrite the "setattrbutes" function; I just don't want to create a function for each of the dictionary. Instead I want to capture the name of the previous chained function. So in the example above I would then be given "connect" and "initialise" so I know which dictionary to store these inside. I hope this makes sense. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated :)

  Hi, Using the DTD validator here, I am informed that the following DTD is invalid. <!ENTITY % text "(#PCDATA|L)*"> <!ELEMENT H (%text;)+> <!ELEMENT L (#PCDATA)> The error message is: "A '(' character or an element type is required within declaration of element type "H"." at line 2, column 22. Can anyone please point out why it is invalid? The error message is not exactly very friendly to me. Thanks.

• UnicodeDecodeError from a GET-parameter in webapp2

  I'm getting a UnicodeDecodeError when recieving a GET-parameter from webapp2 that contains unicode characters, and then using it to do a NDB query. I get the same error message when manually running a unicode() on the parameter in the handler, so there either seems to be a problem in webapp2's URL routing or I've missed something. Preferably, all GET-parameters should be converted to unicode before getting passed into the handler so I don't need to do manual conversions in all of my handlers. I actually think it's worked before in an earlier version. The full error message read: UnicodeDecodeError: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xc3 in position 1: ordinal not in range(128) The GET-parameter contains the following string: göteborg. It looks fine when I raise an Exception on it, but gives me an error when I (or NDB) use unicode() on it.   I have a Stream object that occasionally gets some data on it, but at unpredictable intervals. Messages that appear on the Stream are well-defined and declare the size of their payload in advance (the size is a 16-bit integer contained in the first two bytes of each message). I'd like to have a StreamWatcher class which detects when the Stream has some data on it. Once it does, I'd like an event to be raised so that a subscribed StreamProcessor instance can process the new message. Can this be done with C# events without using Threads directly? It seems like it should be straightforward, but I can't get quite get my head around the right way to design this.

• Mercurial - How do you export your repo's source to a production site?

  I've tried using archive in Tortoise HG by opening my repo change log. This doesn't seem to be anything like SVN's export command, where I can simply export a remote repository to the current directory. I use this to get a clean copy of my source for production (without notes and repository data). How can I do something like this in HG? Or, should I just use clone and deal with the repo related data manually? BTW, I need to do this all via command line since I'm not going to be using Tortoise HG on my Linux server. Any help is much appreciated.

  I have written an installer and uninstaller in NSIS which creates and drops an sql database, which is working fine. I have written some .bat and .sql files to create and drop the database and then just call these files from NSIS script. My problem is if I keep this database open in SQL Server Management Studio and run the uninstaller ideally it should give an error message that the database is opened. In my case it shows the success message of uninstaller but dosnt drop the database properly. How can I handle this error in NSIS?

  I've got an SSIS project where I am constructing an SQL command based on some variables. I'm constructing the command in a script task, and want to output the constructed SQL to the 'Execution Results' window. I am trying to do this using a FireInformation line from inside my script as follows: Dts.Events.FireInformation(99, "test", "Make this event appear!", "", 0, true); However, in the script editor when editing ScriptMain.cs, that line is underlined in red, and on mouseover, I get the following message: Error: The best overloaded method match for 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Tasks.ScriptTask.EventsObjectWrapper.FireInformation(int, string, string, string, int, ref bool') has some invalid arguments As a result, my script does not compile and I cannot execute it. • Push notification is successfully sent, but the device does not receive (occasionally)

  I have been having a problem where some devices will not receive a push notification, since yesterday. The certificate / devicetoken seem to be correct, since the device used to successfully receive push notifications until yesterday. On the server-side, there are no errors or connection refusals, and the push notification seems to be successfully sent every time. But still, there are many occasions where the device does not correctly receive the push. Some surrounding information: I am doing this on the production environment. No errors / connection refusals on the server-side I am sending the exactly same JSON everytime. 2 of our devices are not receiving the push notification AT ALL since yesterday 1 of our device receives push notifications at a lower success rate (about 70%) than yesterday 1~2 of our devices still receive push notifications successfully even now. All of the above devices were able to receive push notifications properly on the production environment until yesterday. There is no difference in the server-side result for when the push is successful, and when the device doesn't receive it... Therefore it is virtually impossible to identify the problem.   I'm trying to copy files to the current directory using a bash script. In order to handle paths that need escaping a variable is used that is escaped and then supplied to the cp command. The cp command is complaining with: usage: cp [-R [-H | -L | -P]] [-fi | -n] [-apvX] source_file target_file cp [-R [-H | -L | -P]] [-fi | -n] [-apvX] source_file ... target_directory I know what that means but I cannot understand why that happens. Here is the code: z="/a/b/c d e f.txt" y=`printf %q "$z"` cp $y x.txt # not working as expected echo cp $y x.txt # output is "cp /a/b/c\ d\ e\ f.txt x.txt"

  I am trying to do simple image processing with OpenCV and the cvBlobsLib in Visual C++ 2008, and I get an error message when I try to create a CBlobResult object IplImage* original = cvLoadImage("pic6.png",0); cvThreshold(original, original, 100, 255, CV_THRESH_BINARY); CBlobResult blobs = CBlobResult(original, NULL, 255); The message is the following: Run-Time Check Failure #2 - Stack around the variable blobs was corrupted Why does this happen? • Unable to locate using find element by link

  Newbie in testing. I generated a test case using Selenium, and then exported it as a Python script. Now, when I try to run that in terminal, I get following error: raise exception_class(message, screen, stacktrace) NoSuchElementException: Message: u'Unable to locate element: {"method":"link text","selector":"delete"}' I am using the command generated by Selenium i.e driver.find_element_by_link_text("delete").click() The reason for the error I believe is that the link "delete" in my web page is seen only when I click on a particular line to be deleted. So I guess it is being unable to locate the link. Please suggest what alternative measure could I use to locate and click on the "delete" link. Thanks in Advance:)

• Emacs and Long Shell Commands

  Is there a way to run a shell command, have the output show up in a new buffer and have that output show up incrementally? Eshell and other emacs terminal emulators do a find job of this but I see no way to script them. What I'd like to do is write little elisp functions to do stuff like run unit tests, etc. and watch the output trickle into a buffer. The elisp function shell-command is close to what I want but it shows all the output at once when the process finishes.
