• Creating a bitmask parameter for a function or method

  I noticed a lot of Android functions have a parameter that you can pass in that's a bitmask, for different options, like on PendingIntent, you can pass in things like you can call getActivity() with PendingIntent.FLAG_CANCEL_CURRENT|PendingIntent.FLAG_NO_CREATE. • When using Javascript, is there an Apex built in to get the value of a radio group?

  Friends, My apex page has several different radio groups, each one can have the value of Yes or No. When the user presses a button I need to capture the values of these radio groups in the javascript processing for the page and then "do stuff" dependent on their values. Is there an Apex Javascript API that I could utilise to obtain the values? or will I need to implement a function similiar to this? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

• jQuery datepicker years shown

  With the jQuery datepicker, how does one change the year range that is displayed? On the jQuery UI site it says the default is "10 years before and after the current year are shown". I want to use this for a birthday selection and 10 years before today is no good.   Hi, just a quick question regarding C and processes. In my program, I create another child process and use a two-directional pipe to communicate between the child and parent. The child calls execl() to run yet another program. My question is: I want the parent to wait n amount of seconds and then check if the program that the child has run has exited (and with what status). Something like waitpid() but if the child doesn't exit in n seconds, I'd like to do something different.

  Hi When used at site level, the IIS7 URL Rewrite 2 module saves its configuration in the web.config file of that site. I'm using Sitecore CMS, and best practice is to store any web.config customisations in a separate config file for ease of upgrading, staging/production setups etc. Is there any way to specify a different config file for IIS7 redirects? I know that application-level rewrites are stored in ApplicationHost.config, but I have several sites running on the server and would like to keep them separated. Thanks, Adam

  Greetings! Last semester in college, my teacher in the Computer Languages class taught us the esoteric language named Whitespace. In the interest of learning the language better with a very busy schedule (midterms), I wrote an interpreter and assembler in Python. An assembly language was designed to facilitate writing programs easily, and a sample program was written with the given assembly mnemonics. Now that it is summer, a new project has begun with the objective being to rewrite the interpreter and assembler for Whitespace 0.3, with further developments coming afterwards. Since there is so much extra time than before to work on its design, you are presented here with an outline that provides a revised set of mnemonics for the assembly language. This post is marked as a wiki for their discussion. Have you ever had any experience with assembly languages in the past? Were there some instructions that you thought should have been renamed to something different? Did you find yourself thinking outside the box and with a different paradigm than in which the mnemonics were named? If you can answer yes to any of those questions, you are most welcome here. As long as something fits RAM it's fine - once it's too big it gets ridiculously slow (in many different scenarios). There are only so many ways one can avoid hitting disk - so the question is - does Amazon or some other cloud provide SSD option?

• When using delegates, need better way to do sequential processing

  I have a class WebServiceCaller that uses NSURLConnection to make asynchronous calls to a web service. The class provides a delegate property and when the web service call is done, it calls a method webServiceDoneWithXXX on the delegate. There are several web service methods that can be called, two of which are say GetSummary and GetList. The classes that use WebServiceCaller initially need both the summary and list so they are written like this: -(void)getAllData { [webServiceCaller getSummary]; } -(void)webServiceDoneWithGetSummary { [webServiceCaller getList]; } -(void)webServiceDoneWithGetList { ... } This works but there are at least two problems: The calls are split across delegate methods so it's hard to see the sequence at a glance but more important it's hard to control or modify the sequence. Sometimes I want to call just GetSummary and not also GetList so I would then have to use an ugly class-level state variable that tells webServiceDoneWithGetSummary whether to call GetList or not. Assume that GetList cannot be done until GetSummary completes and returns some data which is used as input to GetList. Is there a better way to handle this and still get asynchronous calls? Update based on Matt Long's answer: Using notifications instead of a delegate, it looks like I can solve problem #2 by setting a different selector depending on whether I want the full sequence (GetSummary+GetList) or just GetSummary. Both observers would still use the same notification name when calling GetSummary. I would have to write two separate methods to handle GetSummaryDone instead of using a single delegate method (where I would have needed some class-level variable to tell whether to then call GetList). -(void)getAllData { [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self              selector:@selector(getSummaryDoneAndCallGetList:)                  name:kGetSummaryDidFinish object:nil];     [webServiceCaller getSummary]; } -(void)getSummaryDoneAndCallGetList { [NSNotificationCenter removeObserver] //process summary data [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self              selector:@selector(getListDone:)                  name:kGetListDidFinish object:nil];     [webServiceCaller getList]; } -(void)getListDone { [NSNotificationCenter removeObserver] //process list data } -(void)getJustSummaryData { [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self              selector:@selector(getJustSummaryDone:) //different selector but                  name:kGetSummaryDidFinish object:nil]; //same notification name     [webServiceCaller getSummary]; } -(void)getJustSummaryDone { [NSNotificationCenter removeObserver] //process summary data } I haven't actually tried this yet. It seems better than having state variables and if-then statements but you have to write more methods. I still don't see a solution for problem 1.
