  Hello there, I am creating a class in C# which eventually will be part of a library that other uses can use. A user of this class has to set some properties and then use a public method to retrieve the results. What shall I do when a user calls the method without setting all the properties? Throw exception and expect the user to catch it? Thanks

• Chrome not displaying Class set by jQuery or a Direct CSS property

  This might seem like a bit of a design/css question but i really need some help. This is the page http://library.permilia.com/Gavin/version2.0_beta/lead.html It works on every browsers imaginable except chrome. By it works i mean it applies a class .error that sets the borders to 1px solid #f00 which is a red border. In chrome for some reason you cannot change it no matter what! Anybody got any ideas?

• UITableView with sectionIndexTitle bugs on rotation

• Android: how to obtain AssetManager without reference to Context?

  I have a Class that needs to obtain a reference to it's application's AssetManager. This class does not extend any sort of android UI class, so it doesn't have a getContext() method, or anything similar. Is there some sort of static Context.getCurrentApplicationContext() type of method? To clarify: my class is intended to be used like a library, for other applications. It has no associated AndroidManifest.xml or control over the context which is calling it.

  I need to be able to raise different types of audio notifications to the user. I need an "ok" and an "error" type sounds, I was hoping to be able to raise a simple beep and a critical stop type sound but I can only find the Beep() command which doesn't allow for differing sounds. I simply need a list of all plugged in USB devices and have the user select one to let the console application receive any data the USB device sends.   Not completely a programming question, but its close enough so here goes: In Mac OS I'll put user-specific files for my app in ~/Library/Application Data/{MyApp}/ and in *nix I'll put them in ~/.{MyApp}/ - where should I put them for Windows? I'll be using Ruby's File.expand_path to get to this directory, so if there's a windows equivalent of ~ then that's fine. (Answers for Windows XP, Vista and 7 would be appreciated if they're not the same)

  Hi, Is sequential coupling (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sequential_coupling) really a bad thing in code? Although it's an anti-pattern, the only risk I see is calling methods in the wrong order but documentation of an API/class library with this anti-pattern should take care of that. What other problems are there from code which is sequential? Also, this pattern could easily be fixed by using a facade it seems. Thanks

  I need a simple floating point rounding function, thus: double round(double); round(0.1) = 0 round(-0.1) = 0 round(-0.9) = -1 I can find ceil() and floor() in the math.h - but not round(). Is it present in the standard C++ library under another name, or is it missing??

• Is it standard behavior for this code to throw a NullPointerException?

  I've had a big problem in some library code, which I've pinned down to a single statement: System.out.println((String) null); Ok, the code doesn't actually look like that, but it certainly calls println with a null argument. Doing this causes my whole applicaio to throw an unexpected NullPointerException. In general, should println throw this exception under that circumstance, or is this non-standard behavior due to a poor implementation of the out instance?
