• Android / IPhone / Desktop C++ Game Template

  I was wondering if anyone has come across any articles detailing how to set up a basic game in C++ for use in Android / IPhone / Desktop applications. My thoughts just now are that I would like to make my game as a library and have a different project for each device which just interfaces with this library. You know the kind of thing, bootstrap the program, call some library initialize, load and run routines and occasionally pass some information to the library like input. I was hoping someone would have made a template for this kind of thing but I just had no luck finding one. It seems to me that it's the kind of thing you really only have to do once, so I was hoping someone would have done it for me already.

• Is there any remote desktop with sound and video capabilities allowing 2 different users work simultaniousely (a local and a remote one)?

  I have a very powerful PC with Intel processor and a small Mac laptop with PowerPC processor. Both computers are with Ubuntu Linux. Mac laptop cannot play flash videos and I cannot install any Intel-CPU program on it (like Skype). So, it means I can install only open source applications on the laptop from Ubuntu repositories. I have two different Ubuntu system users on PC, say ME and SHE (and root as well :) ). If I work as user ME on PC, then user SHE should also be able to access my PC remotely from her laptop and she should see a desktop of user SHE, not my desktop. She also must be able watch videos, flash, and listen sounds. Is it possible with Ubuntu?

• Opening programs very slow on ubuntu 12.10

  When I open any program for first time after boot, it loads VERY slowly (Doesn't matter how long after boot). For example, terminal takes 2-3 seconds, skype and firefox often take much longer. If I close it and open again, it loads in reasonable time (<1 second). I got Intel Core i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz, so it shouldn't be hardware issue... What is causing this? Disk benchmark: Average read time: 115.5 MB/s (100 samples) Average write time: 98.7 MB/s (100 samples) Average access time: 11.79 msec (1000 samples)

  I've asked a question about what audio volume to use when recording: recording audio: What is the best volume setting? In there, I learned that: I should avoid too high a volume, to prevent clipping I should avoid too low a volume, to prevent loss of resolution The question now is: What is too high a volume? What is too low? I am setting the volume via the GUI for sound config. It has an unamplified setting, a 100% setting, and volumes beyond 100%. After 100%, is there still resolution loss? How can I tell if there is clipping going on (given that my recording program is the non-GUI ffmpeg)?

• Biztalk Schema generator in Visual Studio -- How to enable 'Well-Formed XML' ? [migrated]

  I have installed Visual Studio 2010 and Biztalk. I create a new Biztalk-project in Visual STudio 2010. I choose 'Add new item' and then 'New generated schema'. Here I can choose 'Document type'. I choose 'Well-Formed XML (Not loaded)' and choose an input file. Now I get the message 'XFW to XSD schema generation module is not installed. Execute 'C:\Program files (X86)\Microsoft Biztalk Server 2010\SDK\Utilities\Schema Generator\InstallWFX.vbs to install the WFX to XSD schema generation module. I try to execute that file and some text hastily appear on the console. I restart Visual Studio 2010, but it still doesn't work. Apparently the execution of the shell script didn't work. I try to restart the computer, but it still doesn't work. Could anyone tell me what to do?

• Reload Gtk+ 3.0 theme

  I'm trying to customize my Gtk+3.0 theme, when I make a change in my theme, I change between two themes (with MyUnity) to force applications to reload the theme and test mine. But when I do that, the theme is not refreshed to appreciate my changes, still in an old version, apparently Gtk+ is caching the theme information somewhere. When I close and reopen session, I can appreciate my theme changes, but doing this for each change made is very annoying. Is there a way to refresh my theme and see my changes (a command line program or an Gtk+ API call for example)?

I just want to install ubuntu because it is suppose to get rid of most of the virus problems, so anyway I was following online instructions to install ubuntu alongside windows 7 these are my laptop specifications. I tried booting with a pendrive using netbootin and other similar program but once I boot the laptop in ubuntu I click try without installing button and go to desktop then my mouse stops working. • Ubuntu launch option on startup remains

  I used windows installer to install Ubuntu and it was getting errors on bootup. Well that didn't work, I guess I'll try and boot from a USB to install it. However, after messing around with uninstalling (aka deleting Ubuntu folder after booting into Win7) I cannot get rid of the launch option. There is nothing in Computer Management because I never actually booted into Ubuntu to create space on my HDD for the OS. I can't just uninstall using Program and Features in Control Panel (because I already deleted the folder) Now everytime I boot up it gives me the options of booting into Windows 7 or Ubuntu, how do I disable this page/get rid of the Ubuntu launch option?

• How would I go about updating my electronic circuit simulator's 'electricity'?

  I have made an application which allows the user to place down wires, power sources, and inverters on a virtual circuit board. All connections between tiles are automatic, as shown here: As you can see in the last image, the updating of power throughout this grid is not yet functioning. I think I understand how to do this updating conceptually, but getting it to work in my program is appearing to be much more difficult than I first imagined. My source code can be found here. If you have any tips as to how to I might approach this monstrous task, please let me know. EDIT The goal here is to simply get a working application. Getting tiles to pass on power to their neighbors is quite easy, but the tricky part is getting wires to "unpower" after the removal of a power source. The size of the grid is just 18x18, so efficiency really isn't a factor, for those wondering.

  I have a programming project due today and I am having a simple error. The project is to create a skeleton of a basic menu. The new command just counts from 1 to an integer entered by the user. Before I continue, I have posted a link to the pastebin that holds my .cpp file: http://pastebin.com/pAi9EiEi The rest of the program runs and works. However, the error is simple. It is crashing as soon as I type in any of the commands. After running error checks, I have found the error is not the while but the if statements. The error is on the lines similar to this: if (stricmp(strstr(newCommand, cmd2), newCommand) == 0) What this line is supposed to do, is copy what is in cmd2 and put it in newCommand then comparing it without caps sensitivity to: char newCommand[] = "new"; Thank you, Rux

  I want to make a program/script that will be able to take the data from the excel spreadsheet in column A (for example, "team 123") and search Google and take the first 3 results from Google and put the data into the excel spreadsheet. I don't have that much experience in programming. So what language should I use? I know I have to use REST in the Google custom search API- how would I incorporate this? This might have been done before but all I've been able to find is scripts on how to export all the search results or the number of search results, not the first 3 search results. Thanks. • Installing Win7 over PXE through Serva fails on Loading Network Resources

  Trying to install Win7 OS to a Lenovo E335 with no DVD/CD. I have to do it either over PXE/Network or USB. Although I am able to get passt the installation menu of Serva, it fails on Loading Network Resources ... FAILED No NIC/Driver, ABORTING! This is the only log on the Serva Client PC and nothing on the Serva-server. Would appreciate if someone can tell me how to go pass this error. THe network card works fine, it has already loaded the Windows installation structure on a X: drive on the new laptop. Another detail: I am using a normal Ethernet Cable to connect the PCs. Should this be enough or a crossover cable is a must in this case?

• hosting database on separate server

  Hello Experts, We have an enterprise web app to which our clients post/upload lots of documents [mainly images and pdf files] via web interface, iphone app etc etc. We are also using imagick to split pdf documents into images. Also, large number of mysql SELECT/UPDATE/DELETE queries happen all day. Currently, all of this is happening on same server and we are planning to split the process in 3 stages : 1) a server only for database 2) a server only for documents (document upload, splitting etc) 3) a server for the main php web app Is there any drawback with this kind of structure as compared to hosting everything on same server ?   Hi all, I use the following standard folder structure with my projects: workspace myproject conf development.properties production.properties src build.xml build.properties build myproject Unfortunately, working with scripted languages nullifies the concept of separating the "workspace" from the "build". In my development environment, I use a virtual-host for each project. The virtual-host for a project is configured during the "deploytodevelopment" ANT task. Which method would you recommend for integrating PHP into my build process? Change the virtual-hosts setup to point to the workspace/myproject/src folder. Edit the PHP in the workspace/myproject/src folder. or Check out another working copy of the myproject/src folder to the build/myproject folder. • mod_fcgid: stderr: PHP Fatal error with Plesk 11.5.30 and php-pear

  Just upgraded to Plesk 11.5.30 and found out that sending SMTP emails with php pear aren't working anymore with following error message: mod_fcgid: stderr: PHP Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required 'Mail.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/pear') in /var/www/vhosts/mydomain.com/httpdocs/check.php on line 4 I know in the new Plesk 11.5 they changed the structure of all vhosts, but the strange thing is that require_once('System.php') placed into the same directory and file is working correctly with no errors and is returning bool(true). Any hints where I could have a look with this mod_fcgid error when require_once('System.php') is working but require_once('Mail.php') isn't working?
