    How can I protect a ClickOnce deployed application with a password? Do I have to change the IIS settings of the web or is there a way to do it programmatically? I'm using Visual Studio 2005 (.NET 2.0). If I have to use web credentials, are auto-updates of the application still possible? Would be great if you could provide some sample code or detailed instructions for administering IIS. Thank you!

    I am currently building a small visual designer using the Netbeans Platform. All my components that can be placed on the JPanel show correctly in the Palette Window. What I am struggling to do at the moment, is to let the property window show the properties of the component that was either just dragged and dropped or showing the currently selected component in the JPanel in the Properties window.     I'm trying to drop a SQL Server database from .NET code. I've tried using the SMO classes but get an exception saying the database is in use. Then I tried executing a query (opening a SqlConnection, executing a SqlCommand), along the lines of: ALTER DATABASE foo SET SINGLE_USER WITH ROLLBACK IMMEDIATE (pause) DROP DATABASE foo But still I get an exception saying the database is in use. How do I do this? (Or, how does SQL Server Management Studio implement the Drop database and close existing connections?)

  • Chartfx new chart object not initialized?

    When I create a new chart object via: ChartFX.WebForms.Chart theChart = new ChartFX.WebForms.Chart(); When I took a look immediately the row after creation via breakpoint in Visual Studio 2005 I noticed there are 3 rows in the newly created chart that have data. Is this a bug? or do I need to call a specific function? Shouldn't the data table for the chart be initialized to all 0's?

    I have a certain config.xml file in one of my projects (Silverlight class library) in a folder in the solution. It's build action is set to content. In that same project I am trying to load the xml file by saying: XDocument xml = XDocument.Load("/config.xml"); This unfortunately is not working. Upon inspecting the xap file, I see that the xml file is not being copied to it. I am using Visual Studio 2010 RC.

    Lets say I open some application or process. Did some work with that. Now I closed it. Need to know whether this application caused any memory leak. i.e used up some heap memory and not cleared it properly. Can I get this statistics some how? I'm using Visual Studio (for development) under Windows OS. Even I would be interested in knowing this information for any 3rd party application.

  • Good way to make changes to production database / source code

    Hi I'm interested to find out what would be the good way to make changes to production database and source code in web application (ASP.NET, SQL Server 2008). A little bit more details, we develop on local machines, and then we need to transfer the code and database changes to production (pretty much standard story). At the moment we do it in the evening, change the database directly from management studio on production server, and then just overwrite the existing asp.net code (copy/past). Thanks
