  • Stuck in waiting for review

    I created an app in itunesconnect on May 24th but I did't upload the binary until June 1st. The status is still "waiting for review" - in the past the status moved to "in review" fairly quickly. Is it normal to wait several days to move to "in review" - I am worried there was a problem and that I should reject my binary. Thanks for any advice

The binary data file is at /usr/share/GeoIP/GeoIP.dat Now I just bought a GeoIP Organization license which comes with another binary file with same name of "GeoIP.dat" Where can I put this new "GeoIP.dat" and how can I make both databases accessible to python-geoip library on one server?

  • The same class file in multiple .jar files. How bad is this?

    I have a library that writes data in either a text or binary format. It has the following three components: common data structures text writer (depends on 1) binary writer (depends on 1) The obvious way to distribute this is as 3 .jar files, so that users can include only what they need. However, the "common data structures" component is really just two small classes so I'm considering creating only two .jar files and including the common .class files in both. My question: What are the potential problems with doing this?

    In JCR 1 you could do: final InputStream in = zip.getInputStream(zip.getEntry(zipEntryName)); node.setProperty(JcrConstants.JCR_CONTENT, in); But that's deprecated in JCR 2 as detailed at http://www.day.com/maven/jsr170/javadocs/jcr-2.0/javax/jcr/Node.html#setProperty%28java.lang.String,%20java.io.InputStream%29 That says I should be using node.setProperty(String, Binary) but I don't see any way to turn my inputStream into a Binary. Can anyone point me to docs or example code for this?

    Let's say I have this: float i = 1.5 in binary, this float is represented as: 0 01111111 10000000000000000000000 I broke up the binary to represent the 'signed', 'exponent' and 'fraction' chunks. What I don't understand is how this represents 1.5. The exponent is 0 once you subtract the bias (127 - 127), and the fraction part with the implicit leading one is 1.1. How does 1.1 scaled by nothing = 1.5???

  • How can Core Data store an NSData?

    The documentation says, that core data properties can only store NSString, NSNumber and NSDate types. However, a lot of Core Data users claim Core Data could also store an NSData type. But I wasn't able to see that in the documentation, although the Xcode Data Modeler allows to choose a data type called "binary" (which seems to be NSData). Did I miss something? Is there a hidden place in the documentation that indeed lists NSData for binary stuff?

    My directory structure looks like the following: -xmllib -libxml++-1.0.a -main.cc ..and I issue the command: cc -lstdc++ -L./xmllib -llibxml++-1.0.a main.cc But then it tells me that it can't find the binary for the library...even though I issued the command from the root directory. /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -llibxml++-1.0.a main.cc collect2: ld returned 1 exit status Is there any reason why cc can't find the binary library? I'm using cc version 2.96 (yes, it's old).

I want to be able to figure out which of the files in that directory adhere to my NSCoding class, and I'd prefer not to have to fall back on the naïve approach of loading the entirety of each file into memory, attempting to unarchive each. I have installed VTK from http://vtk.org/VTK/resources/software.html on 64-bit windows 7. I will just clarify here (without too much detail, these tools have been covered in other questions) my understanding of the options: NSIS - Free tool that generates setup executables. Small binary. Specialized, sometimes obtuse, scripting language. Inno Setup - Free tools for setup executables. Various binary compression schemes. Pascal scripting engine. WIX - Free toolset to generate MSI binaries. XML definitions language. WIX ClickThrough - Additional tools for packaging, web download and auto update detection (now part of WIX core). InstallShield - Commercial development environment for installation packaging. Generates MSI binaries. C-like InstallScript language. Wise - Commercial development environment for installation packaging. Generates MSI binaries. ClickOnce - Visual Studio supported framework for publishing applications to a webserver, with automatic detection of updates. No support for custom installation requirements (INI files, registry etc ...). Packages setup as an MSI binary. Install Aware - Commercial development environment for installation. Generates MSI binaries. Automatic Update framwork (Web Update). If I have missed any, please let me know. And found some useful discussions of these technologies on StackOverflow: Best Simple Install System Best choice for Windows installers Alternatives to ClickOnce I have worked with a few of these solutions, as well as a handful of proprietary internal installation solutions. They are mostly concerned with packing installations and providing a framework for developers to access the run time environment. With the growing requirement for web deployment and automatic software updates, I expected to find more of a consensus among developers on a framework for web delivery of software and subsequent updates, I haven't really found that consensus. There are certainly solutions available (ClickOnce, ClickThrough, InstallShield Update Service), but they each have considerable limitations (please correct me if I mis-represent any of these). I would be interested in a framework that provided some of the following: Third party hosting/management of updates. Access to client environment (INI files, registry, etc..). User registration/activation. Feedback/Error reporting This is leaving me with the strong impression that the best way to approach the web deployment problem is through a custom built proprietary solution (possibly leveraging existing installer packaging). I have seen this sort of solution work well for a number of successful applications: FileZilla - HTTP request to update.filezilla-project.org to check for updates, downloads an NSIS binary (I think) and then shuts down to run the install.
