  • Call a Firebug command from client code.

    I would like to apply some sort of IoC, with debugee code, i.e. the current HTML document, and the debugger, Firebug. It would be great to have some sort of document that asks Firebug to open a push channel from the document, versus the more common scenario of the debugger pulling information from the debugee document. Is this possible and or feasible?

    I'm using an HttpWebRequest object to access a web service via an HTTP POST. Part of the requirement is that I: Verify that the URL in the certificate matches the URL I'm posting to Verify that the certificate is valid and trusted Verify that the certificate has not expired Does HttpWebRequest automatically handle that for me? I'd assume that if any of these conditions came up, I'd get the standard "could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel" exception.

    Hello, I am writing an web app which needs to subscribe to multiple channels via javascript. I am using Atmosphere and Jersey as backend. However the jQuery plugin they work with only supports 1 channel. I've start buidling my own implementation. Now it works oke, but when i try to subscribe to 2 channels only 1 channel gets notified. Is the XMLHttpRequest blocking the rest of the XMLHttpRequests?     Python is filled with little neat shortcuts. For example: self.data = map(lambda x: list(x), data) and (although not so pretty) tuple(t[0] for t in self.result if t[0] != 'mysql' and t[0] != 'information_schema') among countless others. In the irc channel, they said "too many to know them all". I think we should list some here, as i love using these shortcuts to shorten & refctor my code. I'm sure this would benefit many.

  • Do I need to create icons other than RGBA for my Windows app?

    I'm curious if anyone still creates icons other than RGB/A (or 32-bit with alpha-channel) for your Windows apps? PS. I know that suggested model is to create 256-color versions of icons, but I always struggle with those. If I automatically convert them in an icon editor they totally decimate the look of my original icons with jagged edges and circa-Windows95 look. So if those are still required, does anyone know the stats on how many people are still using color settings other then 32-bit TrueColor?

    I've tried to resolve this myself and have looked through Google and Stack but haven't found the answer I'm looking for. Currently on a VPS server I have BIND DNS installed as a MASTER DNS Server. I use Zerigo's DNS service as SLAVE servers for public use: The Master doesn't receive queries - It's job is to simply create and modify DNS entries locally of which the SLAVE use to serve.   • Windows Backup fails with 0x80070002: "The system cannot find the file specified"

    Windows 7 Backup is failing. When backing up even a single insignificant directory (e.g. I chose only the empty "Contacts" directory, leaving all other directories unchecked), I get this error within a few seconds and the backup fails. If I uncheck all files/directories, and just do the system image - then the system image is backed up OK without issue. Backup destination is an external USB hard drive. Steps to reproduce and subsequent failure: Set up backup to go to external hard drive. Don't back up system image. Back up "Contacts" directory only for my profile. Start backup. Immediately view the status of the backup, it stays on "Creating a shadow copy..." for a few seconds, and then the backup fails. Click Options button, and it says "Check your backup / The system cannot find the file specified." - with options to "Try to run backup again" or "Change backup settings". If I click "Show Details", then it says: Backup time: 4/12/2012 04:38 Backup location: My Book (D:) Error code: 0x80070002 An examination of the Event Log shows nothing useful beyond the following: Log Name: Application Source: Windows Backup Date: 4/12/2012 04:38:44 Event ID: 4104 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: JTJLaptop Description: The backup was not successful. I'm stumped; WHAT file can't be found and why is my backup failing? This is on a Lenovo T420 laptop.

I have two NICs: one ONBOARD, the other additional on PCI. both of them are Broadcom netXtreme 5572. on the first boot of the system, I could see both cards as eth0 and eth1 (with ifconfig) I configured eth0 as static IP (as planned), and did not configure eth1. after rebooting, one of the two NICs "disappeared": it does not appear in ifconfig at all. the one that disappeared is the ONBOARD one.
