  • Game engine with python scripting?

    Looking to put together a 3D side-scrolling action platformer. Since this is my first time trying to put together a non-simple adventure game, I'm at a loss for which engine to consider. I would prefer one that supports scripting in python, since that's my primary language. Without tight controls, the game will suck... so speed is a priority. Cross-platform is also important to me. Any suggestions?

    Hi I've cross browser fixed a site on all thinkable PC browsers, including Safari. Now my smart ass designer sent me a screen shot of the whole layout collapsing on mac. I have an idea how to solve it (reduce the margin on an element by a few pix), but i don't know how to target Safari only, preferably Safari mac only. What's the best way to do this?

    A non-hypothetical but abstracted situation: I have a domain www.foo.com, from which I'm making an AJAX POST to beta.foo.com. Examining the XHR object, I see a response header of 200 OK, but no response text - I even get a response 12B long, which is the exact response (a 12-character string) that I'm expecting - but the response text is blank. If this is a cross-domain issue, why am I getting 200 OK, and better yet - why am I seeing the PHP functions fire on the beta.foo.com side - yet getting no response?

I imagine I will need to use a cross platform communication framework that can support named pipes (or other in memory communication), what is the best choice?   • Any C/C++ to non-native bytecode compiler/interpreters?

    As the title indicates, are there any C/C++ bytecode compilers/interpreters? I'm writing an application in an interpreted language that depends on certain libraries that are fully cross-compilable (there are no special flags to indicate code changes during compilation for a certain platform) but are written in C and C++. Rather than shipping n-platform-specific-libs with each platform, it would be nice to ship one set of libs which are interpreted by one platform specific interpreter. Possible and/or available?

  • Getting the DLL name from a mingw32-compiled lib/a file

    Hi, I am changing our build system in order to handle cross-compiling and packaging. It is a common thing to ship dependencies' DLLs but CMake's FindXXX modules(./configure checks) don't provide the path to these DLLs but only to .a files. I quickly looked inside the .a libs and they all seem to contain the DLL's name. What would be a proper way of extracting them from the .a file on a Linux build machine?

    I'm coding a WYSIWYG editor width designMode="on" on a iframe. The editor works fine and i store the code as is in the database. Before outputing the html i need to "clean" with php on the server-side to avoid cross-site-scripting and other scary things. Is there some sort of best practice on how to do this? The socket library I have been using doesn’t have a mingw32 build of the library, but it’s open source.     Does (or did) Twitter ever have a method in their API that allowed client-side HTTP requests without producing any cross-domain issues? I have a site that used the following url: http://search.twitter.com/search.json?q=from%3adaleyjem&rpp=3&page=1&callback=? It once worked, but now it doesn't. Is there something else I should be using, or do I have to make a request to my own server-side code?

    I am currently running a simple EJB application using a stateless Session Bean. I am working on NetBeans 6.8 with Personal Glassfish 3.0 and I have installed on my system both the Java EE and the Java SE. I don't know whether it is relevent but I am running Windows7 64-bit version. The Session Bean I implemented has just one method sayHello(); which just prints hello on the screen.
