• Pure HTML + JavaScript client side templating

  I want to have achieve something similar to Java Tiles framework using only client side technologies (no server side includes). I would like to have one page, eg layout.html which will contain layout definition. Content placeholder in that page would be empty #content div tag. I would like to have different content injected on that page based on url. Something like layout.html?content=main or layout.html?content=edit will display page with content replaced with main.html or edit.html. The goal is to avoid duplicating code, even for layout, and to compose pages without server-side templating. What approach would you suggest? EDIT: I don't need a full templating library, just a way to compose a pages, similar for what tiles do.

• Impossible to stop raid device

  I'm trying to stop a RAID disk in order to replace it by a new one, as this one is not working properly. I'm typing mdadm --stop /dev/md1, and I'm getting an error message: mdadm: fail to stop array /dev/md1: Device or resource busy I'm getting this message even if I reboot the server, and I can't see a process that could cause this. The server is working under a Debian with a 2.6.18-4-amd64 kernel. Could you help? Edit: Mote details about what my colleague tried out. After unmounting sda1, the command mdadm --remove /dev/md0 /dev/sda1 worked. But now, we still have an error message after mdadm --remove /dev/md1 /dev/sda5: mdadm: hot remove failed for /dev/sda5: Device or resource busy I still don't understand completly how the different partitions are mounted, so I suppose there is something I don't understand in the currenct situation...

  Apple doesn't want anyone to create iPhone apps outside of the Xcode/Objective-C environment. How can they actually enforce this? If the non Xcode IDE, for example Unity, compiles to an iPhone executable, how will Apple know which dev environment you used to create the app? Can they have Xcode compile some sort of signature into the executable that no one knows about?

  I created RAID 5 form 3 hard drives. Formatted as ext4 this raid array. Created VG0 group and lv_home logical volume in LVM. My question is what are the other folders and what is the physical location of these folders if complete memory is taken by the device dev/sda?

  I have followed Cloning an SD card onto a larger SD card to clone a 2G SD card to a 32G SD card, and the file system is ext4. However, on the 32G SD card I only can see 2G space available. Is there a way to maximize it out?   I have a domain dedicated for my local server (.dev), and an .htaccess file which redirects requests like http://folder.dev/subfolder/ to /htdocs/folder/subfolder. It works great and all, except for one minor issue. When I have the Directory Listing enabled, I can access all the folders, subfolders and files properly, except when I click on the Parent Directory link, which, for example, should lead to http://folder.dev, but redirects to http://folder.dev/folder/ and consequently throws 404 not found. Similarly, if Parent Directory should link to http://folder.dev/subfolder/, it links to http://folder.dev/folder/subfolder/. • Struts1 and Spring wiring question

  Recently I had a pleasure of working again on Struts 1.1 application. It uses Spring 2.5, but not for actions. I would like to hook it up to use Spring as DI for Struts Actions also, as it would make my life a loot easier. I found out DelegatingRequestProcessor could be used for this purpose, at least according to documentation, but seems it has been deprecated as of Spring 3.0. Switching to the new version of Struts is not an option. Does anyone have better idea then starting to use deprecated stuff?

• Multi-site Drupal install with sites on different ports using Apache ip-based hosting?

  In the past we've used name-based virtual hosting in Apache. We recently converted websites to SSL and had to go the ip-based route. As a result, we currently have an instance that is set up as follows: www.domain.com using port 80 dev.domain.com using port 8080 Both use the same IP. Is this scenario possible using Drupal multi-site functionality? While we find that dev.domain.com works and reads the correct "dev" database (using the dev settings), it reads theme files from the "www" site instead which is not what we want. Is the culprit the dev's htaccess file? Apache is listening on 8080 and does use the proper DB settings, but just not the correct theme files. One other note: browsing dev.domain.com:8080 gives an error: "The page isn't redirecting properly". Should we just purchase a new IP address for the dev website, or would this still not help? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

• Can I lvreduce after lvextend without losing the ext4 partition inside it?

  In a botched attempt to move my root partition from one disk to another I have done the following: added new disk partitioned it with parted (part #3 is now almost totally filling the disk) initialized a physical volume $ pvcreate /dev/sdb3 Physical volume "/dev/sdb3" successfully created extended the volume group to include this new physical disk $ vgextend myvg /dev/sdb3 Volume group "myvg" successfully extended extended the logical volume (I think this is where I ballsed it up: I think I should have pvmove'ed stuff to the new pv in that group - can someone confirm?) $ lvextend /dev/mapper/myvg-root /dev/sdb3 I would now like to undo the lvextend and then proceed with the original plan of moving the content of the old physical volume over to the new physical volume. Can I reduce the logical volume (I have not yet touched the ext4 partition that sits in /dev/mapper/myvg-root with something like resizefs) without fear of damaging the ext4 filesystem? If so, how do I tell it to reduce by exactly the right amount? $ lvreduce --by-exactly-the-amount-occupied-by-PV /ev/sdb3 /dev/mapper/myvg-root

  I want to have around 60 repositories of projects and I want to serve them from a dedicated remote server(ubuntu) with the help of mercurial server so that all my developers will be able to update their changes. I have followed this article in order to do that but stocked in the Apache Configuration Step (section 2.5 2.5.4). I have some following questions: What are the steps I need to follow to make apache to serve /home/hg/repositories/private/hgweb.cgi when I enter dev.example.com/private ? Is my virtual host file is correct or do I need to change anything ? I bought the example.com and how to make it to serve dev.example.com/private. • Is It Possible To Recover A Partial LVM Logical Volume?

  Background It is an Ubuntu 12.04 VirtualBox VM with 5 virtual HDDs (VDI), NOTE this is just a test VM, so not well planned ahead: ubuntu.vdi for / (/dev/mapper/ubuntu-root AKA /dev/ubuntu/root) and /home (/dev/mapper/ubuntu-home) weblogic.vdi - /dev/sdb (mounted on /bea for weblogic and other stuff) btrfs1.vdi - /dev/sdc (part of btrfs -m raid1 -d raid1 configuration) btrfs2.vdi - /dev/sdd (part of btrfs -m raid1 -d raid1 configuration) more.vdi - /dev/sde (added this virtual HDD because / ran out of inodes and it wasn't easy to figure out what to delete so as to free up inodes, so I just added the new virtual HDD, created PV, added it to existing volume group ubuntu, grew the root logical volume to work around the inode issue -_-) What happened? Last Friday, before finishing up I wanted to free up some disk space on that box, for some reason I thought the more.vdi was useless and tried to detach it from the VM, I then clicked delete (should have clicked keep files damn!) by mistake when detaching. Unfortunately I didn't have backup for it. All too late. What I have tried Tried to undelete (use testdisk and photorec) the vdi files but it takes too long and recovered heaps of .vdi files that I didn't want (huge, filled the disk, damn!). I finally gave up. Fortunately most of data is on separate ext4 partition and btrfs volumes. Out of curiosity, I still tried to mount the logical volumes and see if it is possible to at least recover the /var and /etc I tried to use system rescue cd to boot and activate the volume groups, I got: Couldn't find device with uuid xxxx. Refusing activation of the partial LV root. Use --partial to override. 1 logical volume(s) in volume group "ubuntu" now active. I was able to mount home LV but not root LV. I am wondering if it is possible to access the root LV any more. Under the bonnet, data (on LV root - /) was striped to more.vdi (PV), I know it's almost impossible to to recover. But I am still curious about how system administrator/DevOps guys deal with this sort of situation;-) Thanks in advance.
