• bad switchs duplicate my ip

  I had a large area LAN. There were many switch and AP on it, then somehow I couldn't ping my servers, and it's said that the IP was duplicated. I use arpwatch and found out that one of the switch flip-flop-ing the IP. I isolated that troublesome switch using his mac-address. But, since this a large area LAN... I doubt this will be the last cases. If there any software or hardware that I can use to prevent this kind of error? Sorry for my bad English.

  Windows Server 2003. I am having a problem with the creation of new user profiles when logging in remotely to a terminal server. The new user profile gets added under Documents & Settings as username.domainname. Deleting the new profile does not allow the original profile to be reverted to. Went logging on to the server again, it creates another new user profile. Nothing was changed in the Active Directory or security settings. How do I get the original profile to be used?

  I have a wordpress website. I upload my pictures to the media library. And when I import a picture in a post, you get the options, one of which ask you what size to display it in. And doing this results in creating a new image file that is a different size, rather than wordpress using html to control the size of the image.   Hi, We switch from a linux CPanel server to another CPanel server, all the setting and file is restore back to the new Linux CPanel server. E.g [email protected] , inside the server I got 100mails. It had been downloaded to my Outlook, my outlook also got 100 mails inside. After I switch to new server, the 100 mail in the old server had been transfer to new server. However, when I open my Outlook, it start to download the 100 mails again, that means I got 200 mails in my mailbox and it is duplicated. How can I stop Outlook to download. The time stamp, receiver and sender is exactly the same. We want to keep a backup in the server, because we don't have a physical server to keep the mail. That why we would like to transfer the mailbox to the new server. Anyone have solution to stop Outlook download again?

We have several logs that customers need access to, because we don't want to give them direct access to the folder/share we are looking to implement a simple Web based solution that permits customers to login see a list of files they have permissions to and download the file. It would need to be able to setup permissions so User01 can see file01 and file03 and User02 can see file04 and file06, optimally all the files would be under the same folder, so permissions are based on files rather then based on folders. • Extract duplicity difftar files manually

  I have a duplicity backup which i am not able to recover with duplicity. By calling duplicity file:///path/to/backups /path/to/dir, it returns "Local and Remote metadata are syncronized, no sync needed." but the /path/to/dir is empty. I decrypted all backup volumes and I'm able to view and extract the files from the different difftar files. My only problem is that there are files partitioned and saved in folders named after the files. Can anyone give me a simple script or at least a hint how to untar these difftar files so i get the actual files instead of the partitioned ones?

  I want to simply backup and archive the files on several machines. Unfortunately, the files have some large files that are the same file but stored differently on different machines. For instance, there may a few hundred photos that were copied from one computer to the other as an ad-hoc backup. Now that I want to make a common repository of files, I don't want several copies of the same photo. If I copy all of these files to a single directory, is there a tool that can go thru and recognize duplicate files and give me a list or even delete one of the duplicates?

Is there any solution to this? [e.g increasing server capacity in a specific time period everyday to reduce cost]

• Migrate 3 terabytes of files to a new server windows 2003

  We have a new file server to handle the obscene amount of files generated by the company (PDFs, XLS, DOCs and JPGs). Files being moved to the new server total about 3tb. The problem is we can't take the company down for days to move the files. The other problem is the applications creating all these files have to reference previous files, so we can't simply point them to the new server. Also, there isn't an option to have the applications create files on the new server, but reference the old server for existing files. The servers are x64 win2003 r2. Both servers are on the same subnet. DFS doesn't work. Is there an application that can handle this amount of data to copy the files over, throttle bandwidth, and do a 'merge'? By merge I mean constantly copying over newly created files until the two servers are synched.

  I got a new MacBook Pro (insurance payout) and passed my old one (previous generation MacBookPro 2008) on to a staff member whose MacBook Pro died. I used carbon copy to move my data to the new laptop but couldn't do the same with her move as the older Macbook wouldn't allow it as it was on an old OS. Ended up just migrating her software onto my old MBP. Now however, they both have the same admin identities and her computer is synching with my mobile me account. Can I change the administrator identity and save all her applications? I am hoping that I don't have to wipe and reinstall everything to change her computers identity.

• Source File not updating Destination Files in Excel

  I have one source file that holds all my input costs. I then have 30 to 40 destination files (costing sheets) that use links to data in this source file for their various formulae. I was sure when I started this system that any changes I made to the source file, including the insertion of new rows and columns was updated automatically by the destination files, such that the formula always pulled the correct input costs. Now all of a sudden if my destination files are closed and I change the structure of the source file by adding rows - the destination files go haywire? They pick up changes to their linked cells, but don't pick up changes to the source sheet that have shifted their relative positions in the sheet. Do I really need to open all 40 destination files at the same time I alter the source file structure? Further info: all the destination files are protected, and I am working on DropBox.

  I just got 64 bit Vista system after being on Windows XP. I'm trying to get all my useful programs up to date, and I've recently had a problem extracting files into the 32-bit program files directory (Program Files (x86)). I'm using 7zip to extract the eclipse-SDK-3.5-win32.zip directory into C:\Program Files (x86) Unfortunately, every time I've tried to do this, 7Zip reports can not open output file C:\Program Files (x86)\eclipse\... I've been able to extract it to C:\ and then move it, I'm assuming there's some protection on the Program Files directory that is causing some problems. Any suggestions?

I mostly do the my testing stuff and some of my inter sites for playing with coding. But I do need one server. I am thinking of moving to Amazon EC2 if the price diff is not so much because then I can learn some more stuff. I am thinking of getting the 3 years Heavy utilization Reserved instance because my server will be running all day and night. I tried their online caluclator with Medium Instance Heavy reserved for 3 years for EC2 it comes $31 per month(effective price) and for EBS and S3 , I think even if thats it $40 for all other stuff. I will be at no loss for what I am getting at present. Am i correct or I missed something?? Now In my current VPS I have Apache for PHP sites and MOD wsgi for python sites. I am not sure if I will be able to do all that stuff in Amazon EC2. Can I host python and PHP sites both in Amazon EC2 instance using Named Virtual Hosts and Ngnix

  I found a script on here that would use 7zip and extract all the files in all the sub-folders of a specific folder and put them in their own folder using the script below. What I need is add to it or maybe use another script if i have to and specify where i want those files to go instead of putting them in their own folder within the folder.
