  When i clicked check this error message came up. But it does not come up when update manager strarts automatically. When you open update manager this error comes up. Any ideas on how to fix it? • Ubuntu 14.04 upgrade succeeded partially - I would like to use a different mirror; how can I do that?

  When I wanted to upgrade from Ubuntu 13.10 to 14.04 the update manager told me that there was an unresolvable problem with calculating the upgrade. In order to see more details I performed the following on the command line: apt-get update apt-get upgrade apt-get dist-upgrade apt-get install update-manager-core do-release-upgrade Now do-release-upgrade tells me that no newer version is available but the "about" box in the main menu tells me I am still on 13.10. I think the latter is right, as for instance in the "system settings" there is no way to select local menus, which is present in 14.04 (I tried with a DVD, and there it is). Maybe the problem is related to the fact that "apt-get update" cannot get two resources called "saucy/InRelease" and "saucy/main/binary-i386/Packages" from the mirror (mirror.informatik.uni-mannheim.de; 404 not found). I would like to use a different mirror; how can I do that? Any help appreciated, thanks in advance.

• Need multiple views to respond to a touch event in an iPhone app

  Setup: I have two views that I need to respond to the touch event, and they are layered out on top of one another. View 1 is on top of View 2. View 2 is a UIWebView. View 1 is sublclassed to capture the touch event. My problem is that if I try to call the UIWebView event handlers (touchesBegan: and touchesEnded:) from within the event handlers of View 1, which is the first responder, nothing happens. However if I set View 1 to userInteractionEnabled = NO, then the touch goes through that view and is processed properly by the 2nd view. Any ideas on how I can have 2 views respond to a touch event? Unfortunately the 2nd view is a UIWebView, so I need to actually call the event handler and not a different method, etc... Thanks in advance for any advice, Joel

  Hi, I have a legacy VB6 component that I've imported into VS using tlbimp.exe to generate my interop assembly. The VB6 component defines an event that allows me to pass messages within VB6. Public Event Message(ByVal iMsg As Variant, oCancel As Variant) I would really like to be able to raise this even in my C# program, but its getting imported as an event, not a delegate or something else useful. So, I can only listen, but never fire. Does anyone know how to fire an event contained within VB6?   I'm running a local IIS 7.5 server in Win 7 Pro, and I'm trying to add a custom error page for 403 responses. When I click OK to add a custom error page for my site, IIS Manager just vanishes. The server is still running, and I can re-start IIS Manager, but the new page has not been saved. I've also tried adding it directly to web.config, but that just gives me The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred. Does anyone know why this might be happening?   Allow me to pose two coupled questions that might boil down to one about good application design ;-) What is the best practice for using event based communication in an e4 RCP application? How can I write simple unit tests (using JUnit) for classes that send/receive events using dependency injection and IEventBroker ? Let’s be more concrete: say I am developing an Eclipse e4 RCP application consisting of several plugins that need to communicate. For communication I want to use the event service provided by org.eclipse.e4.core.services.events.IEventBroker so my plugins stay loosely coupled. I use dependency injection to inject the event broker to a class that dispatches events: @Inject static IEventBroker broker; private void sendEvent() { broker.post(MyEventConstants.SOME_EVENT, payload) } On the receiver side, I have a method like: @Inject @Optional private void receiveEvent(@UIEventTopic(MyEventConstants.SOME_EVENT) Object payload) Now the questions: In order for IEventBroker to be successfully injected, my class needs access to the current IEclipseContext. Most of my classes using the event service are not referenced by the e4 application model, so I have to manually inject the context on instantiation using e.g. ContextInjectionFactory.inject(myEventSendingObject, context); This approach works but I find myself passing around a lot of context to wherever I use the event service. Is this really the correct approach to event based communication across an E4 application? how can I easily write JUnit tests for a class that uses the event service (either as a sender or receiver)? Obviously, none of the above annotations work in isolation since there is no context available. I understand everyone’s convinced that dependency injection simplifies testability. But does this also apply to injecting services like the IEventBroker? This article describes creation of your own IEclipseContext to include the process of DI in tests. Not sure if this could resolve my 2nd issue but I also hesitate running all my tests as JUnit Plug-in tests as it appears impractible to fire up the PDE for each unit test. Maybe I just misunderstand the approach. This article speaks about “simply mocking IEventBroker”. Yes, that would be great! Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any information on how this can be achieved. All this makes me wonder whether I am still on a "good path" or if this is already a case of bad design? And if so, how would you go about redesigning? • Cannot log into Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g: ORA-28001

  I can no longer log into Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g. I get this error message: ORA-28001: the password has expired (DBD ERROR: OCISessionBegin) I could log into the server using SQL*Plus. I warned me that the password was going to expire in 7 days (which is not the same as being already expired). Following advice from several documents, I ran these commands from SQL*Plus: ALTER USER sys IDENTIFIED BY new_password; ALTER USER system IDENTIFIED BY new_password; SQL*Plus no longer warns about passwords, but I still cannot use the Enterprise Manager. Then I followed this to remove password expiration: ALTER PROFILE default LIMIT password_life_time UNLIMITED And I've also restarted the Oracle services. In case it was using cached credentials, I've tried to connect from several browsers in several computers. No way: I still get ORA-28001 in Enterprise Manager. What am I missing?   Hi, I've been researching for a long time, and haven't found a possible solution. The problem I have is that I'm trying to attach an event handler to an span element just inserted. So basically the problem is, when a user performs a particular action that I set (clicking a button by example) I call this function: function AppendSpan() { $('#mydiv').append('<span id="someid" contenteditable="true">Some TExt</span>'); //Then I want to handle the keypress event on the inserted span $('#someid').keypress(function(event){//Do something here}); } The problem is that the keypress event is never triggered on the inserted span, I tried with the click event and it works fine, but not the keypress or keydown,keyup events. My deployment in Azure consists of a Worker Role with two instances which connect to an Azure VM running my Memcached server. Everything works pretty well, my session is persisted and retrieved by any of the two instances transparently. • Win7 Pro x64 task manager hangs when restarting explorer.exe after waking from sleep

  I have a desktop running Windows 7 x64 Pro, set for Hybrid Sleep on a wired network. Wakeup is only enabled from the keyboard (wake on mouse and Wake-On-LAN are both disabled). Sometimes when it wakes up, there is no network connectivity. The notification area icons for both network and volume don't respond to clicks. If I open the Network and Sharing Center, clicking the red X doesn't do anything. Restarting does fix the problem, but I'm looking for a solution that does not require restarting (if at all possible). Drivers are all up to date. I've tried opening Task Manager and restarting the explorer.exe process, but Task Manager freezes for a few minutes, the "New Task" dialog closes, and explorer.exe has not restarted. CPU and memory usage are both normal. One thread suggested making sure the BIOS was set for S3 sleep mode only (not S1 or S1 & S3), but I haven't checked this yet. Going back to sleep and waking back up does not help. So far only a reboot has fixed the issue. System specs: Windows 7 x64 Pro Asus P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 128 GB Crucial m4 SSD (Firmware version 0309) Intel Core i7 2600 3.4 GHz 16 GB RAM Any ideas? Brandon

• SQL 2000 Backup/Export Process - Can't find SQL 2000 Enterprise Manager, Can't use Mgmt Studio Expre

  I need to make a backup of a client's SQL 2000 database, however there are a few issues preventing me from doing so using the traditional methods. I've tried using SQL Management Studio Express, but the host doesn't give sufficient privileges to create a backup and I'm getting some strange error messages. I've also tried doing the "Generate Scripts" to recreate the schema, then using the DTS Wizard to migrate the data, but the IDs set up with the identity specification property are not consistent with the live database once copied over. This results in some foreign key breakage... If I remember correctly, I was able to use Microsoft SQL 2000 Enterprise Manager to perform the task before, but I can't find this anywhere... it seems Microsoft has pulled most SQL Server 2000 stuff from their site. Does anyone know where I can find a copy of Enterprise Manager (or a trial of SQL Server 2000, which I believe comes with the component)? Or conversely, does anyone know of any other tools (preferably non-commercial) that are capable of mirroring remote SQL Server 2000 DBs? Thanks!

• How to reinstall Windows Boot Manager on EFI partition

  So I've been trying to install Ubuntu on a second HDD on my desktop, which has W8 installed on a SSD (UEFI-only boot). Thing is, during Ubuntu installation I made the mistake of choosing to install the bootloader (GRUB) to the first disk (the SSD), and after install I could not boot into W8 (the entries in GRUB didn't work). Following these instructions, I managed to be able to get "Windows Boot Manager" back, however I lost GRUB in the process, and got a duplicate "Windows Boot Manager" entry in BIOS, along with the "Ubuntu" entry, which then I used to boot into Ubuntu. Later, I decided to reinstall Ubuntu, and formatted the HDD from within windows, however, the entries in BIOS stayed the same, and, while I had the HDD connected to the motherboard, I could not boot into an Ubuntu Live USB (in order to reinstall Ubuntu). I made another mistake by updating the BIOS, which cleared all of the EFI boot entries in BIOS, and, right now, I get an error when boot from the SSD: grub: device not found (...) So it seems that grub is still installed in the EFI partition of the SSD, and since I don't have the WBM entry in BIOS anymore, I cannot even boot into Windows, and the previous instructions don't work anymore. Is there another way to reset W8 EFI partition to the default?

• Missing Boot Manager in Vista

  I am in really deep trouble here and would need advice. A message just pop up on my screen and I had to restart my laptop. Upon restarting the Boot Manager got corrupted. I am running Windows Vista 32 bit by the way. I got onto Google with a friend's PC and found two basic ways of fixing it. The first one that requires Windows to automatically fix it using Startup repair ends up with the error message: Startup REpair cannot repair this computer automatically The second option that requires me to rebuild the BCD scans my system and finds the operating system on drive D:\Windows which I believe should be C:. If I hit Y(yes) for the rebuild process to take place I get the message The required system device cannot be found I then try the second option which requires me to recreate the BCD Store. It ends up with an error message that says: The store export operation has failed. The requested system device cannot be found Proceeding from there is meaningless since the system device cannot be found. I somehow believe the device cannot be found because it's identifying the Windows installation on D: instead of C: but how to change that I have no idea. I don't know how it happens to identify an operating system on D: when there's none there. How do I go about fixing the Boot Manager? • Ubuntu 10.04 network manager issues

  I was using the default network manager to connect to my wi-fi network, but if the connection is dropped or router restarted the network manager wont reconnect automatically after i guess a couple of tries and just gives a pop-up to connect manually . To avoid this annoyance I installed WICD but though it does try to reconnect to the network after a drop in connection it is unable to resolve the ip address and i am left with an even bigger annoyance . 1. Is there a way to counter either of these issues ? 2. Something like a background process that will check network status periodically and then try to connect to a favored network ?
