    I have an array containing arrays of names and other details, in alphabetical order. Each array includes the first letter associated with the name. Array ( [0] => Array ( [0] => a [1] => Alanis Morissette ) [1] => Array ( [0] => a [1] => Alesha Dixon ) [2] => Array ( [0] => a [1] => Alexandra Burke ) [3] => Array ( [0] => b [1] => Britney Spears ) [4] => Array ( [0] => b [1] => Bryan Adams ) ) I'd like to display them grouped by that first initial, eg: A - Alanis Morissette Alesha Dixon Alexandra Burke B - Britney Spears Bryan Adams etc... Is this at all possible?

    Say I want to model a system where a piece of data can have multiple tags (e.g. a question on a StackOverflow is the data, it's set of tags are the tags). I can model this in Django with the following: class Tag(models.Model): name = models.CharField(10) class Data(models.Model): tags = models.ManyToManyField(Tag) Given a set of strings, what's the best way to go about finding all Data objects that have one of these strings as the name of a tag in their tag list. I've come up with the following, but can't help thinking there is a more "Djangonic" way.   • Lotus Notes rich text field to RTF File - VB

    Here is my problem, I am doing a data migration from Lotus notes to another type of software that does not support Rich Text Fields. I am trying to write a VB 2005 program that will take any rich text fields that are found and place them into an RTF file - which will be uploaded as an attachment in the new software. I cannot get the program to take the rich text formating or objects to the RTF file, only the plain text. I have tried everything under the sun using the COM library to get these objects out to no avail. Any ideas or suggestions? Thank you in advance Bryan

  • Symfony / Doctrine - How to filter form field by property in related model

    I have a UserForm class which has a select list populated from a related model (specified by a foreign relationship in the yml) like so: $this->setWidget('report_id', new sfWidgetFormDoctrineChoice(array('model' => $this->getRelatedModelName('Report')))); I'd like to filter the Report objects that come from this relation by one of the Report fields, "active" such that only Reports with active=1 appear in the form. I have a method, ReportTable::GetActiveReports() that performs the appropriate query and returns the filtered reports. So one option is to populate the Widget with the results of that function. Any tips on the syntax to do that? It seems to me the cleaner way is to use the UserFormFilter class to filter the reports by active=1 there. Unfortunately I couldn't find any documentation on how to use form filters (or really what they are), so maybe this is not the right solution. Is a Form Filter the appropriate tool for this job? It seems I should use the Doctrine_Record_Filter_Standard class as defined here: http://www.doctrine-project.org/api/orm/1.2/doctrine/doctrine_record_filter_standard.html But it's not clear to me the appropriate usage.     I have the following schema, which I use to ensure that a person's PhoneNumber and PhoneNumberType (Home, Work, etc.) is not longer than 10 characters. However, I want to improve this schema so that PhoneNumberType is not required if a PhoneNumber is not provided, but is required if the PhoneNumber is provided.   • Naming conventions and field naming question for CakePHP

    Okay so two questions very related: 1) Does following the naming convention for classes, controllers, database fields, etc. affect the framework's ability to work the way it was intended? (I'm a little new to working with a framework from the beginning of app development) 2) This question is more important if 1 is a yes. Say I have a table, A, that has 2 foreign keys pointing at the same table, B, but different entries (they're like edges of a graph that point at two vertices) how would I follow the naming convention of their database fields? All I can think to do is something like vertex_1_id and vertex_2_id but I don't know how the framework would handle that if the naming conventions are necessary for its functioning correctly.

  • Can't store array in json field in postgresql (rails) can't cast Array to json

    This is the error I'm getting when I run db:migrate rake aborted! can't cast Array to json This is my table class CreateTrips < ActiveRecord::Migration def change create_table :trips do |t| t.json :flights t.timestamps end end end This is in my seeds.rb file flights = [{ depart_time_hour: 600, arrive_time_hour: 700, passengers: [ { user_id: 1, request: true } ] }] trip = Trip.create( { name: 'Flight', flights: flights.to_json } ) For some reason I can't do this. If I do this. trip = Trip.create( { name: 'Flight', flights: { flights: flights.to_json } } ) It works. I don't want this though because now I have to access the json array with trip.flights.flights. Not the behavior I'm wanting.

    I have a polymorphic association (Class Table Inheritance) and I need use DQL to query entities of a specific child class wich can be done using "x INSTANCE OF Entity" in WHERE clause. Now I need to put conditions specific for that child class but I get this error: "Class Person has no association named student_field_1" Person = Parent Class Employee = Child class Student = Child class is there any way yo cast of somehow tell Doctrine that the Person is actually a Student and to allow me to put Student fields in the WHERE?

  • Jackson object mapping - map incoming JSON field to protected property in base class

    We use Jersey/Jackson for our REST application. Incoming JSON strings get mapped to the @Entity objects in the backend by Jackson to be persisted. The problem arises from the base class that we use for all entities. It has a protected id property, which we want to exchange via REST as well so that when we send an object that has dependencies, hibernate will automatically fetch these dependencies by their ids. Howevery, Jackson does not access the setter, even if we override it in the subclass to be public. We also tried using @JsonSetter but to no avail.     Hi, I'm working on a legacy Java 1.4 project, and I have a factory that instantiates a csv file parser as a singleton. In my csv file parser, however, I have a HashSet that will store objects created from each line of my CSV file. All that will be used by a web application, and users will be uploading CSV files, possibly concurrently. Now my question is : what is the best way to prevent my list of objects to be modified by 2 users ? Also, how should I synchronize - both - the setting of the csvFile and the parsing ? I feel like my actual design is broken because threads could modify the csv file several times while a possibly long parse process is running. I hope I'm being clear enough, because myself am a bit confused on those multi-synchronization issues. Thanks ;-)

And it was confirmed: >> char(result{1,2}') ans = 21992901,21998673, So now I need to convert all blobs hex data into numeric vectors. Still thinking to do it in a vectorized way, since number of rows can be large.

Now, I want to return (preferably with one query) a list of an arbitrary number of projects, sorted by the total amount of time spent at them, which is found by SUM(time_stop) - SUM(time_start) WHERE project_id = something. So far, I have SELECT project.name FROM service LEFT JOIN project ON project.id = service.project_id LIMIT 100 but I cannot figure out how what to ORDER BY.

  • iPhone SQLite Password Field Encryption

    Good Afternoon Guys and Girls, Hopefully this will be a quick and easy question. I am building an App that requires the user to input their login details for an online service that it links to. Multiple login details can be added and saved as the user may have several accounts that they would like to switch between. These details will be stored in an SQLite database and will contain their passwords. Now the questions are: 1: Should these passwords be encrypted in the database? My instinct would say yes but then I do not know how secure the device and system is and if this is necessary. 2: If they should be encrypted what should I use? I think encrypting the whole database file sounds a bit over-kill so should I just encrypt the password before saving it to the database? If this is case what could I use to achieve this? I have found reference to a "crypt(3)" but am having trouble finding much about it or how to implement it. I eagerly await your replies!
