    I would like to write a powershell script that gets the following parameters as input: Folder to copy from, extensions allows, folder to copy to and a boolean indicating if the change should restart IIS, username and password. What cmdlets should I be looking at considering that I am copying to a remote server? How do I read the parameters into variables? How do I restart IIS? Cosidering that I might want to copy multiple folders, how do I write a powershell script that invokes a powershell script?

  • User not able to change permissions on folder in network share for Windows Server 2003

    I have a user that has rights to change permissions within a certain folder on a Windows Server 2003 network share. Although I grant this person the rights to change permission and ownership this person cannot change any permissions. The network share is also set to allow everyone full control. (I understand it is bad practice yet this is how it was first configured) Is there any reason why this domain user cannot modify permissions on the folder and files they create?

  • DFS - Stop sync of large folder that has since been removed

    We have a site to site DFSR on Windows Server 2008 R2 that has been running perfectly between site A to site B until someone dumped a 20GB folder. This has overwhelmed the upload and make the internet almost useless at site A (the upload is low at the branch office). We have removed this folder from the DFS share on site A, however the internet is still really slow. Is there any way to cancel this sync or other way to get DFSR back in to a happy state?

    In XP, to ensure a folder opened in a new window, I held down CTRL when I opened (by mouse or keyboard) the folder. This action is so ingrained to me, I pretty much don't even realise I'm doing it at a conscious level. Unfortunately, this action apparently hasn't made it to Vista. Is there a new way to do this, or am I just missing something obvious?

    I'm doing the following to mount a remote server to a specific path on my server: sshfs [email protected]:/backup/folder/ /home/myuser/server-backups/ However when I mount the server the folder permissions change (they become 700), and when I test my rsnapshot.conf file I get the following error: snapshot_root /home/myuser/server-backups/ - snapshot_root exists \ but is not readable What am I doing wrong ? should I mount the remote server with another user ?

    We have several users using a shared account and when messages in that account's in box have been processed they are drag and dropped into a public folder. Is there a way to determine who dropped a mail item in an Exchange 2003 public folder, so that we can have some accountability? I suspect this can't be done natively in Exchange, so if there is a scripted solution to this I'd be very interested.

    I have an OSX host with a ubuntu VM trying to mount a shared folder. I'm using the options: sudo mount -t vboxsf -o uid=1000,gid=100 pg ~/pg-host The folder mounts fine, however it appears that the mounted directory is case-insensitive, even though my OSX drive is formatted case-sensitive. Are there any options to control this behavior ?

I already know the Save to PDF command and that you can create simple aliases in the "PDF Services" folder, but I need something automated for this task.     I'm trying to run a Maintenance Cleanup Task to remove .bak files older than 2 days (simple enough). Been trying all variety of .bak, BAK, .*., and editing the path, but the files are still not getting removed even though I receive a "job succeeded" log message. I'm not at the point where I believe it's a folder permission issue. How do I make sure my SA has the proper permissions to remove files from a folder? Thanks.

    I've seen many questions about how to run multiple sql servers on one server, but I would like to run mysqld as a user-level process and completely self contained in a folder (I have no permissions outside my user folder). I spent some time using the --defaults-file=my.cnf, but it still seems to conflict with the system-level mysql server that's running. Does anybody know how to do this? Thanks in advance!

Has anyone an Idea how I could do this? Isn´t it a common task to have several partial Views in a page but have the information about validation in the page action methods? [window addSubview:splitViewController.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; return YES; } As a matter of fact the navigation controller works splendid in the portrait orientation but kind of freaks out in landscape orientation. when navigating back in the hierarchy (towards the root view) i always have to tap twice per view. on the first tap the visible view is poped from the stack and on the second tap the navigation bar turns. usually both of this happens at the same time. i have no idea what is going wrong.

  • UIView rotation, modal view lanscape and portrait, parent fails to render

    Hi everyone, I've hit a bit of a roadblock with something that I hope that someone in here can help me out with. I'll describe the 'state of play' first, and then what the issue is, so here goes; I have a series of view controllers that are chained together with a Navigation Controller (this works just fine), All of these view controllers support portrait mode only (by design), In one of the view controllers (the 'end' one actually) the user can click a table cell to pop up a modal view controller (using presentModalViewController(...) of course) This modal view controller supports portrait and landscape modes (and this works), When the user clicks the 'Done' button on this modal view controller we pop and pass control back to the parent view controller, however; If the user is in portrait mode when they click 'Done' then the parent displays itself just fine, If the user is in landscape mode when they click 'Done' then the parent displays a totally white, blank screen (that covers the whole screen). It is as if the controller does not know how to render in landscape and just doesn't bother. I'd like to be able to have this parent view render in portrait no matter what the orientation of the phone is when the user clicks the 'Done' button. Various forum posts suggest using the UIDevice method 'setOrientation' (but this is undocumented and will get our app rejected apparently). Another suggestion was to set the 'statusBarOrientation' to portrait in the 'viewWillAppear' method but that had no effect. So I am a bit stuck! Has any encountered anything like this before? If need be I can provide code, if that will help anyone diagnose the problem for me. Thanks in advance! Cheers, Ben

  • Which pattern should be used for editing properties with modal view controller on iPhone?

    I am looking for a good pattern for performing basic property editing via a modal view on the iPhone. Assume I am putting together an application that works like the Contacts application. The "detail" view controller displays all of the contact's properties in a UITableView. When the UITableView goes into edit mode a disclosure icon is displayed in the cells. Clicking a cell causes a modal "editor" view controller to display a view that allows the user to modify the selected property. This view will often contain only a single text box or picker. The user clicks Cancel/Save and the "editor" view is dismissed and the "detail" view is updated. In this scenario, which view is responsible for updating the model? The "editor" view could update the property directly using Key-Value Coding. This appears in the CoreDataBooks example. This makes sense to me on some level because it treats the property as the model for the editor view controller. However, this is not the pattern suggested by the View Controller Programming Guide. It suggests that the "editor" view controller should define a protocol that the "detail" controller adopts. When the user indicates they are done with the edit, the "detail" view controller is called back with the entered value and it dismisses the "editor" view. Using this approach the "detail" controller updates the model. This approach seems problematic if you are using the same "editor" view for multiple properties since there is only a single call-back method. Would love to get some feedback on what approach works best.

  • Custom view in iPhone SDK gets placed incorrectly in realation to statusbar

    (ragh, i'm apparently not allowed to post images, so i have included links to the images in this post instead of embedding them) Im writing an iPhone application based on the navigation controller template, but I am not loading the actual navigation controller as the first view in the window. I create a new view controller from a xib, and then add that as a subview, and then only push the navigation view as a modal when i need it. Here's my application: didFinishLaunching ... method in the application deleate RootViewController *rootViewController = (RootViewController *)[navigationController topViewController]; rootViewController.managedObjectContext = self.managedObjectContext; mainViewController = [[MainViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"MainViewController" bundle:[NSBundle mainBundle]]; mainViewController.modalTransitionStyle = UIModalTransitionStyleFlipHorizontal; [window addSubview:[mainViewController view]]; [[mainViewController view] setNeedsLayout]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; return YES; It works but the view is not properly aligned with the statusbar: http://img.exdev.dk/1.png When i click "my ambiances" and push the navigation controller view, and then dismiss it again, the layout is fine: same link as above, just replace the 1 with a 2. Sorry for the hassle, apparently I can also only post one link.... Here's the code I use for presenting/dismissing the navigationcontroller: -(void)pushMyAmbiences { [mainViewController presentModalViewController:navigationController animated:TRUE]; } -(void)returnToMainView { [mainViewController dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:TRUE]; } Is there anything I'm missing here?   • WPF and Prism View Overlay

    Hi, I need some help with overlaying views using the prism framework.Its a little more complexed than that so let me explain.I could be over-thinking this as well :D i have shell (wpf window) and i have 2 views(A & B - both usercontrols) in a module. when the shell loads it loads view A. On view A i have a button to "popup" view B for some user input. so naturally i would think to some sort of modal window/control, maybe even a popup. however the problem i face with the popup is that when i move the shell the popup remains fixed and it doesnt block events in view A. I've tried disabling view A to stop events being fired and i've also tried to use a to get the view B move with the shell. Only the canvas works but i now need a way to block it tho'. Is there anyway i can overlay a view on top of another view with prism? or how does everyone else create modal popups with prism & wpf? any advise or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Wonderful! What I need to know is: once that view has been loaded, how can I have the view remove itself? I've tried a few different ways, but all of them result in the program crashing. To test I have a button on the view set up which triggers this method: - (IBAction)GTFOnow:(id)sender { NSLog(@"GFTO"); window = [[UIWindow alloc] initWithFrame:[[UIScreen mainScreen] bounds]]; //[self.view removeFromSuperview]; //[window makeKeyAndVisible]; } In this method the view should remove itself from the view so I can go back to the Cocos2D. How do I do this?
