• Blogger (Python) API: How do I retrieve a post by post ID?

  Having previously obtained a post ID from a call to gdata.blogger.client.add_post()... post = client.add_post(...) post_id = post.get_post_id() ...how do I use that post id to retrieve the post in the future? I thought maybe gdata.blogger.client.Query would be the way to go, but this doesn't support post id as a query term. The example code distributed with the Python gdata module doesn't have an example of this use case, and after poking around gdata.blogger.client.* for a while I'm not making much progress. I could obviously iterate through all the posts in the blog until find the one with the corresponding id, but that would be a terrible, terrible idea.

• P0ST variables to web server?

  Hello I've been trying several things from Google to POST data to a web server, but none of them work: I'm still stuck at how to convert the variables into the request, considering that the second variable is an SQL query so it has spaces. Does someone know the correct way to use a WebClient to POST data? I'd rather use WebClient because it requires less code than HttpWebRequest/HttpWebResponse.   In database I have Contacts table: ContactID (int) FirstName (varchar) LastName (varchar) ... XmlFields (xml) // This field is xml type To create a new contact, I created two classes - one for regular fields and other to display fields from XmlFields field. In Controller, I have following: public ActionResult Create(Contact contact, FormCollection collection) ... Regular field I catch with contact object and those that need to be stored as xml in XmlFields I try to catch with collection object. Problem is that collection object catches all fields, so I wonder if it is possible to isolate xml fields when posting to a specific object so that I can easily manipulate with them.   Here's the situation: In wordpress I'm trying to reset a post WP_Query so that I can rewrite the post link based on whether or not a custom field exists in the post. I'm trying to give the post a NEW link in the custom field. All I've managed to do here is kill the link entirely. Any and all help is greatly appreciated, I'm pretty green to php. • Rails associations of user/post/comment

  Hi, I'm trying to create an app like a blog, with 3 models: user, post and comment. As expected, a comment belongs to both a user and a post. I used the following associations: User.rb has_many :comments has_many :posts Post.rb has_many :comments belongs_to :user Comment.rb belongs_to :user belongs_to :post And I tried to create comments using: @user.comments.create However, this will relate the comment with user, but not with post. I want the comment to be associated wit BOTH user and post. Is there a way to do so? Or did I use the wrong associations? I think it might be a bad practice to set the user_id or post_id by hand, so both ids are not in attr_accessible. I'm not sure if it is correct. Thank you!

• How do I create multiple submit buttons for the same form in Rails?

  I need to have multiple submit buttons. I have a form which creates an instance of Contact_Call. One button creates it as normal. The other button creates it but needs to have a different :attribute value from the default, and it also needs to set the attribute on a different, but related model used in the controller. How do I do that? I can't change the route, so is there a way to send a different variable that gets picked up by [:params]? And if I do then, what do I do in the controller, set up a case statement?

• Pass HTML form entries into a Javascript array to then be written to a client side cookie?

  I'm building a bit of a test-case JS application, something very basic, but have run into some problems. I'm trying to use a HTML form for a user to enter a number, which is then written to a Javascript Array. The user then has the option to write that same array to a local (client side) cookie. (I understand the security implications of this - it's a test-case and not for commercial use.) However, I can't make the connection - how can I capture the HTML entry, press 'submit' which will send it to a JS array, where the user can then press a different 'submit' which will write the array to a text file? If anyone can help I'd appreciate it because it's been nearly 6 hours and it's not funny anymore.

There are 2 choices: 1) I create duplicate copy of the post and have a column which keeps track of the original post id and makes clear this is a shared post. 2) I have a separate table shared post where I save the post id which is a foreign key to post id in post table. Talking in terms of programming basically I keep pointer to the original post in a separate table and when need to get post posted by user and also shared ones I do a left join on post and shared post table Post(post_id(PK), post_content, posted_by) SharedPost(post_id(FK to Post.post_id), sharing_user, sharedfrom(in case someone shares from non owners profile)) I am in favour of second choice but wanted to know the advice of experts out there?   Hi, I managed to setup a SVN (over SSL) server and TortoiseSVN client on Win. I made a Post-Commit Hook for test project. The Post-Commit will update the web dir so the App in PHP can be executed with the newest version. It all works when done over shell. • Form submit to target iframe only works once

  I'm having a really irritating problem doing something that I'm sure I've done before. The setup is this: There's a form which is submitted via a "click" handler on a button, though the submit is ultimately a simple call to the form's native submit() function. The form's target is an iframe, which is initially filled with an empty page (that is, its source object is an URL for an empty page). That is, the "target" attribute of the form is the same identifier (and yes, it's a valid identifier) as the "name" and "id" attributes of the iframe (and yes, it's unique) Now the goal of this setup is as follows: the form contains file upload fields. Should something be wrong with one of the files uploaded, the server will report back an error. If the error response (that is, the html page with a new copy of the form, along with appropriate error messages) were to be allowed to reload the original window, then the file input fields would be cleared. That's not good. Thus the form submits to the iframe, so that the response from the server can be a small page that knows it's in that hidden iframe, and knows to move the error messages up to the form. One more thing: the form itself is also in an iframe, as part of a popup modal dialog (like a jQuery UI dialog, only slightly different; same idea though). The setup works fine - on the first submit. In other words, if I supply nice happy files to upload, the server ships back the successful response, and the dialog is closed correctly. If I send a bogus file, the server responds with an error page that correctly copies its stuff up to the form page. On the second submit, however (like, if I fix the bogus file input field), the browser insists on sending the server response to a new browser tab. As far as I can tell, the form's "target" remains correct, the iframe "name" and "id" attributes aren't changed, and I even make sure to update the hidden iframe "window.name" and "window.id" values. None of that is helping; I always get a new browser tab. I'm trying to set up a slightly simpler test case to see if I can rule out some of my framework code (the stuff that does the submit), though via a few console.log() calls I think that stuff is OK; it's certainly OK on all the other dialogs etc. in the site. When/if I create a simpler version I'll post it. In the meantime, if any of you insanely smart people recognize this situation and know of a trick to make it work, I'd be really thankful. I see the same behavior in both Firefox (3.6) and Chrome, so it's got to be my problem and not a browser quirk (well, at least that's what I think to be true).

• SpringMvc java.lang.NullPointerException When Posting Form To Server [closed]

  I have a form with a user name field on it when i tab out of the field i use a RESTFUL Web Service that makes a call to a handler method in the controller. The method makes a call to a DAO class that checks the database if the user name exists. This works fine, however when the form is posted to the server i call the same exact function i would call in the handler method however i get a java.lang.NullPointerException when it accesses the class that makes a call to the DAO object. So it does not even access the DAO object the second time. I have exception handlers around the calls in all my classes that makes calls. Any ideas as to whats happening here why i would get the java.lang.NullPointerException the second time the function is called.Does this have anything to do with Spring instantiating DAO classes using a Singleton method or something to that effect? What can be done to resolve this? When i refresh the page, the form doesn't disappear, but when i click a link with a query string (thisPage.php?lang=fr...), the form disappears. I know i m asking the form only if the button is pressed, but how can i ignore the query string.

• Post a form from asp to asp.Net

  I have a classic asp application. I want to post a contest form from that page to an Asp.Net form. The reason is that I want to use a lot of logic i have built into an Asp.Net page for validation before entering into the database and I don't know asp very well. Not to mention asp.Net being more secure. What's the best way to accomplish this goal? My thoughts are as follows: My asp Page: <html> <body> <form action="/Contests/entry.aspx" method="post"> Name: <input type="text" name="fname" size="20" /> Last Name: <input type="text" name="lname" size="20" /> <input type="submit" value="Submit" /> </form> </body> </html> aspx page is running in a Virtual Directory and would handle anything posted to it. Is this possible, or does aspx prevent this kind of thing? I ( preferably ) don't want to create the form in aspx as my colleague wants to have control of the page and build the html himself and I don't want the hassle of constantly changing it. Are there caveats I need to consider? What roadblocks will I run into? How do I access the Posted Form Values? Request.Form?

  I have a form with an OleDbConnection object on it. This form fails to load in the Form Designer with the message: One or more errors encountered while loading the designer. The errors are listed below. Some errors can be fixed by rebuilding your project, while others may require code changes. Invalid authorization specification at ADODB.ConnectionClass.Open(String ConnectionString, String UserID, String Password, Int32 Options) ... (stack trace continues into user code) I've tracked this down to the OleDbConnection string. If I hardcode in the server IP, username/password/dbinstance into the constructor of the GUI form then the form will load in the designer. At run-time it is not an issue because we require the user to provide the login details. The question: Is it possible to use the OleDbConnection and the Form designer without supplying the database credentials in the source code of the form? For example, is there a property of the OleDbConnection or Form that I can set so that it doesn't need to access the database during Form design? My concern is that if we ever move the database server or change the login that the code will stop working in the designer.
