  • Objective C: Include class and call method

    - by Nic Hubbard
    I have built a class which has a few methods in it, once of which returns an array, lets call this class A. I have a second class, class B, which I would like to use to call the method from class A. But, now how do I call that method from class A and store what is returned in a var in class B? Do I have to initiate the class? I have made sure to include the .h file from class A into class B. Thanks for helping a newbie.

  • Passing data to overridden base method in C#

    - by UpTheCreek
    Bit of a dumb question, but I'm wondering what the accepted way of passing data from back to an overridden base method is in c#. e.g. I guess I could do: class A { int x; public virtual void DoStuff() { Console.WriteLine(x); } } class B : A { public override void DoStuff() { x = 1; base.DoStuff(); } } But is there a better method that for example doesn't require the use of a member variable?

  • Recursive insert-method for a linked list

    - by user3726477
    I'm learning C# and I've made a recursive insert-method for a linked list: public static int recursiveInsert(ref int value, ref MyLinkedList list) { if (list == null) return new MyLinkedList(value, null); else { list.next = recursiveInsert(ref int value, ref list.next); return list; } } How would you modify this method to make the recursive call look like this: recursiveInsert(value, ref list.next) instead of: list.next = recursiveInsert(ref int value, ref list.next);

  • Get derived class type from a base's class static method

    - by Marco Bettiolo
    Hi, i would like to get the type of the derived class from a static method of its base class. How can this be accomplished? Thanks! class BaseClass { static void Ping () { Type t = this.GetType(); // should be DerivedClass, but it is not possible with a static method } } class DerivedClass : BaseClass {} // somewhere in the code DerivedClass.Ping();

  • Detect if a method was overridden using Reflection (C#)

    - by Andrey
    Say I have a base class TestBase where I define a vistual method TestMe() class TestBase { public virtual bool TestMe() { } } Now I inherit this class: class Test1 : TestBase { public override bool TestMe() {} } Now, using Reflection, I need to find if the method TestMe has been overriden in child class - is it possible? What I need it for - I am writing a designer visualizer for type "object" to show the whole hierarchy of inheritance and also show which virtual methods were overridden at which level.

  • RSpec - mocking a class method

    - by Chris Kilmer
    I'm trying to mock a class method with rspec: lib/db.rb class Db def self.list(options) Db::Payload.list(options) end end lib/db/payload.rb class Db::Payload def self.list(options={}) end end In my spec, I'm trying to setup the expectation Db::Payload.list will be called when I call Db.list: describe Db do before(:each) do @options = {} Db::Payload.should_receive(:list).with(@options) end it 'should build the LIST payload' do Db.list(@options) end end The problem is that I am always receiving the following error: undefined method `should_receive' for Db::Payload:Class Any help understanding this error would be most appreciated :-)

  • Is there anyway to "probe" a method in common lisp

    - by Michael Minerva
    My application allows the user to create their own methods indirectly and I later need to refer to these methods. I am wondering if there is a way (for error checking purposes) to test if a method exists without trying to execute it. If I just try and call the method and it doesn't exist this will crash my application.

  • Replace a method call

    - by deV
    Hi, I want to achieve below task: 1. I need to search Html.Resource("key") in my application and replace it with GetResource("key",object) 2. The GetResource method has two parameters: the first parameter should be the same as the original method,"key" in this case, and I need to pass in the second parameter which is variable. 3. I need to replace only when the Html.Resource("key") occurs inside certain tags like td and div else I need not replace it. Thanks in advance

  • NSTableView not refreshing when calling method from different class

    - by Matt S.
    I have a table view that gets refreshed two different ways. One is through a button and the other is when I call my refresh method, which is the same method that I use for the button, but for some reason, when I hit the button it works, but when I call it through a different class it doesn't. Here's the code that I use to refresh the tableview: Msqv *qv = [Msqv new]; [qv refresh:self]; //refresh is an IBAction that is used by the button

  • Passing a bool condition to method which I can invoke when I need

    - by dotnetdev
    Hi, I need to pass in a predicate which I can invoke whenever I want (just like a delegate). I am trying to do something like this (I thought Predicate delegate would meet my needs): MyMethod(Predicate,string pred); Called like: MyMethod(s = s.Length 5); I want to write the condition inline BUT invoke it when I want, just like a delegate. How could I do this? Thanks

  • Writing A Good C# Equals Method

    - by ChloeRadshaw
    Does anyone have a template for writing a decent equals method - I remember in Effective Java there was problems around handling equals when dealing with subclasses. I dont have the book with me and I cannot remember if it was practical advice - So how do you write a solid robust equals method implementation?

  • C++ sort method

    - by qwead
    I want to sort a vector using std::sort, but my sort method is a static method of a class, and I want to call std::sort outside it, but it seems to be trouble doing it this way. On the class: static int CompareIt(void *sol1, void *sol2) { ... } std::sort call: sort(distanceList.at(q).begin(), distanceList.at(q).end(), &DistanceNodeComparator::CompareIt); Shouldn't it be possible to do this way?
