  • Creating a new Guid inside a code snippet using c#

    I want to make an intellisense code snippet using Ctl K + Ctl X that actually executes code when it runs... for example, I would like to do the following: <![CDATA[string.Format("{MM/dd/yyyy}", System.DateTime.Now);]]> But rather than giving me that string value, I want the date in the format specified. Another example of what I want is to create a new Guid but truncate to the first octet, so I would want to use a create a new Guid using System.Guid.NewGuid(); to give me {798400D6-7CEC-41f9-B6AA-116B926802FE} for example but I want the value: 798400D6 from the code snippet. I'm open to not using an Intellisense Code Snippet.. I just thought that would be easy.

  • C# ...extract email address from inside 100's of text files

    My SMTP server got 100's of errors when sending lots of emails. Now have lots of .BAD files each one containing an error message and somewhere in the middle, the actual email address it was supposed to be sent to. What is the easiest way to extract from each file "just" the "email address", so that I can have a list of the actual failed emails? I can code in C# and any suggestion will be truly welcomed.   • IE7 & 8 not fireing jQuery click events for elements appended inside a table

    I have an IE bug that I'm not sure how to fix. Using jQuery I'm dynamically moving a menu to appear on an element on mouseover. My code (simplified) looks something like this: $j = jQuery.noConflict(); $j(document).ready(function() { //do something on the menu clicks $j('div.ico').click(function() { alert($j(this).parent().html()); }); setUpActions('#tableId', '#menuId'); }); //on mouseover set up the actions menu to appear on mouseover function setUpActions(tableSelector, menuSelector) { $j(tableSelector + ' div.test').mouseover(function() { //note that append will move the underlying //DOM element with all events from it's old //parent to the end of this one. $j(this).append($j(menuSelector).show()); }); } This menu doesn't seem to register events correctly for the menu after it's been moved in IE7, IE8 and IE8-as-IE7 (yeah MS, that's really a 'new rendering engine' in IE8, we all believe you). It works as expected in everything else. You can see the behaviour in a basic demo here. In the demo you can see two examples of the issue: The image behind the buttons should change on hover (done with a CSS :hover selector). It works on the first mouseover but then persists. The click event doesn’t fire – however with the dev tools you can manually call it and it is still subscribed. You can see (2) in IE8's dev tools: Open page in IE8 Open dev tools Select "Script" tab and "Console" sub-tab Type: $j('#testFloat div.ico:first').click() to manually call any subscribed events There will be an alert on the page This means that I'm not losing the event subscriptions, they're still there, IE's just not calling them when I click. Does anyone know why this bug occurs (other than just because of IE's venerable engine)? Is there a workaround? Could it be something that I'm doing wrong that just happens to work as expected in everything else?

  • Use JQuery to target unwrapped text inside a div

    I'm trying to find a way to wrap just the inner text of an element, I don't want to target any other inner dom elements. For example. <ul> <li class="this-one"> this is my item <ul> <li> this is a sub element </li> </ul> </li> </ul> I want to use jQuery to do this. <ul> <li class="this-one"> <div class="tree-item-text">this is my item</div> <ul> <li> <div class="tree-item-text">this is a sub element</div> </li> </ul> </li> </ul> A little background is I need to make an in-house tree structure ui element, So I'm using the UL structure to represent this. But I don't want developers to have to do any special formatting to use the widget. update: I just wanted to add the purpose of this is I want to add a click listener to be able to expand the elements under the li, However, since those elements are within the li the click listener will activate even when clicking on the children, So I want to attach it to the text instead, to do this the text needs to be targetable, which is why I want to wrap it in a div of it's own. So far I've come up with wrapping all the inner elements of the li in a div and then moving all inner dom elements back to the original parent. But this code is pretty heavy for something that might be much simpler and not require so much DOM manipulation. Works great except for in IE6. Nothing displays. I've tried initializing the dialog before and after running the validation code but neither makes a difference.     Background: My client is building their own WordPress site (using a purchased feature-rich theme), and I'm modifying a child theme as necessary to achieve customizations she wants. The theme comes with a Page template that includes a full-width Google Map across the top, which pulls its marker from a single address set within the Theme Options. It's meant to be used for one main "Contact Us" page. The client's business has several locations, and she wants each location's page to include such a map. (Example linked below.) It seems that the ideal solution would be the ability to specify an address within a shortcode in the Post, and have that set the map marker. I believe it's because the map is already loaded by the time the Loop gets parsed. How can I tell Maps to "come back" to the post to get the proper address? My specialty lies in HTML & CSS, but Javascript befuddles me fairly easily, so please be explicit when explaining implementation. Bonus: A further goal is to have the locations' parent Page also include such a map, but have multiple markers representing the multiple locations. When taking more than one location, Google Maps only accepts latitude/longitude. I don't want my client to be concerned with coordinates, so I know there's got to be something I can do with the geocoding service so she can just input a list of addresses instead (into the same, or similar, shortcode solution developed for my main question). But I am extra-clueless about how to do that.

    I implement a class hierarchy using STI pattern class A scope :aaa, where([someField]:[someValue]) end class B < A end The problem is that when I try to call something like: B.limit(5).aaa => SELECT "[table]".* FROM "[table]" WHERE "[table]"."type" IN ('A') AND ([someField] = [someValue]) LIMIT 5 So I am getting 5 objects of type A, which satisfies scope :aaa But I need to do the same with rows where type = "B" Is there any way to use scopes from parent, without redifinning it in childs in STI pattern? Thanks in advance EDITED I just discussed it with my frind and he showed me one important thing. A in not the root class of STI. IN fact whole hierarchy looks like class O < ActiveRecord::Base end class A < O scope ..... ..... end class B < A end maybe the reason is in hierarchy itself?...

    Hi! I have designed a custom UItableView Cell in IB. This cell has a UIButton with an associated action. This button is not getting touch events, however the cell itself gets the events when called. What could be wrong? EDIT: I just checked, that UIButton is also getting touch events, but so is the UITableViewCell. And at then end of it the action associated with UIButton is not getting called.

    I have the coordinates of the center of a circle where I need to draw some text. The circle may be larger or smaller depending on the attributes I have specified.
