  • AJAX in Drupal Forms?

    How would you go about constructing a step by step form that uses AJAX through Drupal to pull the next form step? For example, Step 1: I like Baseball I don't like Baseball. When that person clicks on either Like or Don't Like, I want to use AJAX to recognize and pull the next part of the form, remove/hide the first section since its not needed, and present the next section. Example: Step 1: I like Baseball *click (fade out) Step 2: My favorite team is __________ The player I like most is __________ What is the best way to do this through Drupal Form API? I know how to build the forms and modules, but I have never used AJAX yet. I know a few things exist out there that are supposed to help, but I wanted to know if anyone here has done it and how they approached it.

  • How Do I Prevent Rails From Treating Updated Nested Attributes Differently From New Nested Attribute

    I am using rails3 beta3 and couchdb via couchrest. I am not using active record. I want to add multiple "Sections" to a "Guide" and add and remove sections dynamically via a little javascript. I have looked at all the screencasts by Ryan Bates and they have helped immensely. The only difference is that I want to save all the sections as an array of sections instead of individual sections. Basically like this: "sections" => [{"title" => "Foo1", "content" => "Bar1"}, {"title" => "Foo2", "content" => "Bar2"}] So, basically I need the params hash to look like that when the form is submitted. When I create my form I am doing the following: <%= form_for @guide, :url => { :action => "create" } do |f| %> <%= render :partial => 'section', :collection => @guide.sections %> <%= f.submit "Save" %> <% end %> And my section partial looks like this: <%= fields_for "sections[]", section do |guide_section_form| %> <%= guide_section_form.text_field :section_title %> <%= guide_section_form.text_area :content, :rows => 3 %> <% end %> Ok, so when I create the guide with sections, it is working perfectly as I would like. The params hash is giving me a sections array just like I would want. The problem comes when I want edit guide/sections and save them again because rails is inserting the id of the guide in the id and name of each form field, which is screwing up the params hash on form submission. Do I have to create a custom form builder? Is there some other trick I can do to prevent rails from putting the id of the guide in there? I have tried a bunch of stuff and nothing is working.     The following error pops up every now and then: C:\Program Files\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v9.0\TeamTest\Microsoft.TeamTest.targets(14,5): error : API restriction: The assembly 'file:///C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\PublicAssemblies\Microsoft.VisualStudio.QualityTools.UnitTestFramework.dll' has already loaded from a different location. It cannot be loaded from a new location within the same appdomain. How do I get rid of it?

  • jQuery UI sortable issue with helper offset value being same as scroll offset on FireFox only

    I have a problem with a jQuery UI 1.7.2 sortable list in Firefox, IE7-8 work fine. When I'm scrolled down a bit, the helper element seems to have an offset of the same height that I'm scrolled down which makes it impossible to see which item you originally started dragging. How do I fix this or work around the issue? If there is no fix what is a really good alternative drag-able plugin?   • How to create multiple SOAP webservice clients in same netbeans 6.8 project

    I have a project that is largely just to help one application make connections to an SAP server, for real-time updates. So the first web service client works fine, but I try to create a second and it seems to hang and I expect part of the problem is that it is trying to create a new Service class, but the namespace for all the webservices are identical, but the wsdl is obviously different, so it can't create the client. I can do it manually, by just having Service1, Service2, etc, or making some other change, but the issue is that Netbeans should be able to do this easily. I can't use Eclipse as the wsimport parameters that Netbeans uses works, in Eclipse I would need to do too much to make it work, so I will go with the easier tool. I don't want to create a new project for each webservice, as that just seems to be perpetuating a design error. So, how can I easily create multiple webservice clients that will all have the same target namespace, using Netbeans 6.8+?

  • Hudson leaving open sessions

    Does anyone have any experiences with Hudson leaving sessions open to a Subversion server? We've been increasing our job list and got ~50 which poll the SCM regularly. It's been working fine but recently our SCM has started acting up by refusing handshakes, which we suspect is down to the sessions left open by Hudson. Last count there were ~400 sessions with nothing building on Hudson. At the moment the only solution we've found is restarting the Subversion service but this is becoming increasingly frequent and not a long term solution. Any experiences/ideas would be appreciated.

  • Password Cracking Windows Accounts

    At work we have laptops with encrypted harddrives. Most developers here (on occasion I have been guilty of it too) leave their laptops in hibernate mode when they take them home at night. Obviously, Windows (i.e. there is a program running in the background which does it for windows) must have a method to unencrypt the data on the drive, or it wouldn't be able to access it. That being said, I always thought that leaving a windows machine on in hibernate mode in a non-secure place (not at work on a lock) is a security threat, because someone could take the machine, leave it running, hack the windows accounts and use it to encrypt the data and steal the information. When I got to thinking about how I would go about breaking into the windows system without restarting it, I couldn't figure out if it was possible. I know it is possible to write a program to crack windows passwords once you have access to the appropriate file(s). But is it possible to execute a program from a locked Windows system that would do this? I don't know of a way to do it, but I am not a Windows expert. If so, is there a way to prevent it? I don't want to expose security vulnerabilities about how to do it, so I would ask that someone wouldn't post the necessary steps in details, but if someone could say something like "Yes, it's possible the USB drive allows arbitrary execution," that would be great! EDIT: The idea being with the encryption is that you can't reboot the system, because once you do, the disk encryption on the system requires a login before being able to start windows. With the machine being in hibernate, the system owner has already bypassed the encryption for the attacker, leaving windows as the only line of defense to protect the data.

  • Perl graph garbage collection usage

    Hi, I have built a tiny application in Perl that displays a graph over time. It graphs garbage collection usage over time. I use gnuplot to display the actual graph. This works fine if the time period is short, like a few hours. However, as the time increases (say a few days), the graph becomes difficult to read as the information gets crammed. Note that there is a tool called gcviewer which performs a similar function, it works by allowing you to choose the percentage of the graph. http://www.tagtraum.com/gcviewer.html Ideally I would like to take this further by adding the ability to "move" within the graph. I am not a developer but am good at scripting, so if there is some module in Perl which would provide this functionality it would be excellent!     I'm new to MDX and trying to solve the following problem. Investigated calculated members, subselects, scope statements, etc but can't quite get it to do what I want. Let's say I'm trying to come up with the MDX equivalent to the following SQL query: SELECT SUM(netMarketValue) net, SUM(CASE WHEN netMarketValue > 0 THEN netMarketValue ELSE 0 END) assets, SUM(CASE WHEN netMarketValue < 0 THEN netMarketValue ELSE 0 END) liabilities, SUM(ABS(netMarketValue)) gross someEntity1 FROM ( SELECT SUM(marketValue) netMarketValue, someEntity1, someEntity2 FROM <some set of tables> GROUP BY someEntity1, someEntity2) t GROUP BY someEntity1 In other words, I have an account ledger where I hide internal offsetting transactions (within someEntity2), then calculate assets & liabilities after aggregating them by someEntity2. Then I want to see the grand total of those assets & liabilities aggregated by the bigger entity, someEntity1. In my MDX schema I'd presumably have a cube with dimensions for someEntity1 & someEntity2, and marketValue would be my fact table/measure. I suppose i could create another DSV that did what my subquery does (calculating net), and simply create a cube with that as my measure dimension, but I wonder if there is a better way. I'd rather not have 2 cubes (one for these net calculations and another to go to a lower level of granularity for other use cases), since it will be a lot of duplicate info in my database. These will be very large cubes.

I'm accustomed to using the ever famous Oren Ellenbogen's Dark Scheme featured on Scott Hanselman's blog, but the upgrade process has made it downright butt-ugly.     I'm on a Web Hosting Buzz reseller account. They have some very stringent mail sending rules, including blocking of authenticated SMTP socket mail sending using PEAR. It was suggested in WHB forum that this was possible with sSMTP. I've since gotten SSH access and googled how to install sSMTP from SSH: rpm -Uvh http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/i386/epel-release-5-3.noarch.rpm yum install ssmtp However, the first line fails with: Retrieving http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/i386/epel-release-5-3.noarch.rpm error: skipping http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/i386/epel-release-5-3.noarch.rpm - transfer failed - Unknown or unexpected error It was a very old thread in WHB forum and the thread poster could not be reached for assistance.   • Creating files with french characters and encoding.

    HI, I am creating a file like so. FileStream temp = File.Create( this.FileName ); Then putting data in the file like so. this.Writer = new StreamWriter( this.Stream ); this.Writer.WriteLine( strMessage ); That code is encapsulated in a class hierarchy but that is the meat and potatoes of it. My problem is this. MSDN says that the default encoding for creating a file this way is UTF8. And when I write a french character such as é Textpad interprets the file as a UTF 8 file, but notepad++ says it's "ANSI as UTF8" or maybe it's an ansi file but is reading it as UTF8. When I create a file the same way without the french character both textpad and notepad++ read the file as an ansi file even though according to msdn it should be a utf 8 file still. Which program should be trusted. Notepad++ or textpad - Notepad++ seems to be more consistant, but is still the oppossite to what MSDN says it should be. My problem is that we create files that get sent off to another company and depending on whether there are french characters the encoding seems to keep changing. Or is there a better way to determine the encoding of a file. I've read about byte order marks and preambles but as far as I understand neither are guaranteed to be there. We initially thought that all the files we were building were ansi. Also please note that both ansi and utf8 should handle the french characters appropriately as the characters are part of both character sets.

  • Sys is undefined

    I have an ASP.Net/AJAX control kit project that i am working on. 80% of the time there is no problem. The page runs as it should. If you refresh the page it will sometimes show a javascript error "Sys is undefined". It doesn't happen all the time, but it is reproducible. When it happens, the user has to shut down their browser and reopen the page. This leads me to believe that it could be an IIS setting. Another note. I looked at the page source both when I get the error, and when not.   • Slug ID's with the same name?

    I want to create slug URL's from a users title in my system. If a user types "The best way's to get slim; period!", then I want the slug to be "the-best-ways-to-get-slim-period". Also, if someone has already created a page with that title I want the slug to be "the-best-ways-to-get-slim-period-1". My question is how can I check the database before a record is created? Ok, obviously I am going to have to perform a check in the database, and then a write. That's 2 queries. Is this the normal way to do it? Also, are there any conventional regular expressions for filtering non alpha/number characters and replacing spaces with hyphens? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi, I'm getting this error Attribute {StaticResource StoryboardIntroAnimation} value is out of range when I try and use a staic resource as the Storyboard property of a BeginStoryboard object. The markup looks a little like this: <UserControl ...> <UserControl.Resources> <Storyboard x:Key="StoryboardIntroAnimation"> ... </Storyboard> </UserControl.Resources> <UserControl.Triggers> <EventTrigger> <EventTrigger.Actions> <BeginStoryboard Storyboard="{StaticResource StoryboardIntroAnimation}" /> </EventTrigger.Actions> </EventTrigger> </UserControl.Triggers> ... </UserControl> Does anyone know why this is happening?

  • Referencing a control programatically with external source

    Forgive me about the title, I have no idea what this is called. I have a MS Access database set up, with a Period field that has either values 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5. I retrieve these values using a database connection and I would like to reference a particular control based on what period was grabbed from the database. Here's example code, pseudo of course. TextBox(dr(3)).Text = dr(0) dr(3) contains the period, and dr(0) contains the content I would like to put into the text box. I have these text boxes on my form: TextBox1, TextBox2, TextBox3, TextBox4 and TextBox5. So if dr(3) contained 2 then I would want to reference TextBox2. I hope I've made myself clear, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks. :)

  • MySQL query from subquery not working

    I am trying to return a number based on the count of results from a table and to avoid having to count the results twice in the IF statement I am using a subquery. However I get a syntax error when trying to run the query, the subquery I have tested by itself runs fine. Any ideas what is wrong with the query?
