Loading jQuery with Tapestry 5

Okay, so I'm not a Java guy, but I work with loads of them. We generally load Prototype with Tapestry 5, as Tapestry was built on this javascript library. As a UI/front end developer/engineer, I know the awesomeness of jQuery and the lack of prototype therein. (Feel free to debate that elsewhere -- this ticket doesn't concern that question, ha.) I've been curious for some time if it's possible to port jQuery into Tapestry instead of Prototype -- as in completely removing Prototype and Scriptaculous -- I realize it kind of defeats the purpose of the already bundled Prototype, but I wanted other opinions on the matter. Can't access variables from dynamically loaded javascript

I'm using a fairly simple system to load javascript dynamically: include = function (url) { var e = document.createElement("script"); e.src = url; e.type="text/javascript"; document.getElementsByTagName("head")[0].appendChild(e); }; Let's say I have a file test.js which has the following contents: var foo = 4; Now, in my original script, I want to use include(test.js); console.log(foo); However, I get a 'foo has not been defined' error on this. I'm guessing it has to do with the dynamic script being included as the last child of the <head> tag. How can I get this to work?

[super init] and loading NIB / XIB files?

I am a little curious, I have a view controller class and an NIB/XIB (both are named "MapViewController") If I do the following it loads the NIB with the matching name. -(id)init { self = [super initWithNibName:@"MapViewController" bundle:nil]; if(self) { do things ... } return self; } if on the other hand I just specify [super init] does Xcode just look for a NIB that matches the name of the controller, is that how this is working? -(id)init { self = [super init]; if(self) { do things ... } return self; } cheers Gary.

Need Help Loading and Manipulating Bitmap Data

Using VB6, I need to load a bitmap image and subsequently manipulate some of its data - specifically, I want to rotate a section within the image, and in the end keep the image intact with the rotated section. How do I (1) find out where an image gets loaded into memory (a physical address), and (2) in what format is it stored, a 1-D array, 2-D array, or what? Maybe you can even suggest a better way to do this. Thanks.

Rails 3 fields_for agressive loading?

Hi all, I'm trying to optimize (limit) queries in a view. I am using the fields_for function. I need to reference various properties of the object, such as username for display purposes. However, this is a rel table, so I need to join with my users table. The result is N sub-queries, 1 for each field in fields_for. It's difficult to explain, but I think you'll understand what I'm asking if I paste my code: <%= form_for @election do |f| %> <%= f.fields_for :voters do |voter| %> <%= voter.hidden_field :id %> <%= voter.object.user.preferred_name %> <% end %> <% end %> I have like 10,000 users, and many times each election will include all 10,000 users. That's 10,000 subqueries every time this view is loaded. I want fields_for to JOIN on users. Is this possible? I'd like to do something like: ... <%= f.fields_for :voters, :joins => :users do |voter| %> ... <% end %> ... But that, of course, doesn't work :(

Loading an image sequence in InterfaceBuilder -ObjectiveC

Hi Using Actionscript and or in the Flash IDE you can either instantiate bitmaps from the library, or simply import bitmaps into the timeline of a MovieClip to create an image sequence. How would you do the same thing in InterfaceBuilder and-or using ObjectiveC? Do I need to create a new view for each and every image?

GWT: Loading different UI's based on URL

Trying to get a GWT project off the ground and finding it difficult to do any basic routing. Trying to fire up different UI's based on the URL. Thought I could set a string based on the getHash() and then switch off that, but seems cumbersome (and annoying since I can't do string-based switches in Java). There's got to be a best practice for this. I know Gerrit uses hashes for determining this type of information but couldn't find where they do it in the source. Or is this totally not GWT-related? Something I can handle in web.xml? Any help is much appreciated.

Jquery mobile spinner not loading in external links

I'm developing an application in which I have internal and external links. i noticed that Jquery mobile does not load the spinner when an external link is clicked: Example <a href = "/products">Spinner is shown </a> <a href = "othersite.com" rel = "external">Spinner is NOT shown </a> I have tried : $('a[href][rel=external]').click(function(){ //doesnt work $.mobile.showPageLoadingMsg(); } and: $('a[href][rel=external]').click(function(){ // shows the spinner but it gets stuck forever $.mobile.showPageLoadingMsg(); $('#loadingDiv').div("refresh"); } can someone help me show the spinner when the rel = external links are clicked? thanks!

This error just started happening this morning in one particular project. When I try to publish the site it gives me this error and I can't complete the publish! Sometimes restarting Visual Studio magically fixes the problem, but it will just appear again later. Not only that, when I restart VS I lose all my "undo capabilities". There is a KB article on the subject, but it did not help. What can I do to stop this very annoying problem once and for all?

I have a number of database table that looks like this: EntityId int : 1 Countries1: "1,2,3,4,5" Countries2: "7,9,10,22" I would like to have NHibernate load the Country entities identifed as 1,2,3,4,5,7,9 etc. whenever my EntityId is loaded. The reason for this is that we want to avoid a proliferation of joins, as there are scores of these collections.

iPhone Application crashing upon loading a new Detail View

Hi, My problem is when trying to load a detail view through a table cell, the application constantly crashes. The error that comes up when running through debug is "__TERMINATING_DUE_TO_UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION___" objc exception thrown. If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated. problem loading resource from class library

I have a class library (mylibrary) which has a resource called "close.png". I used redGate reflector to confirm that the resource is actually present in the dll. Now i use mylibrary.dll in a project where i attempt to extract this "close.png" resource like this : BitmapImage crossImage = new BitmapImage(); crossImage.BeginInit(); crossImage.UriSource = new Uri(@"/mylibrary;component/Resources/close.png", UriKind.RelativeOrAbsolute); crossImage.EndInit(); This BitmapImage crossImage is then used like : Button closeButton = new Button() { Content = new System.Windows.Controls.Image() { Source = crossImage }, MaxWidth = 20, MaxHeight = 20 }; On doing this i get no exceptions being thrown but the button shows no image. Also, i do see some exception info if i investigate the button's 'content' in the debugger.

Codeigniter PHP - loading a view at an anchor point

I have a form at the bottom of a long page, if a user fills out the form but it doesn't validate the page is reloaded in the typical codeigniter fashion: $this->load->view('template',$data); however because the form is way down at the bottom of the page I need the page to load down there like you do with HTML anchors. Does anyone know how to do this in codeigniter? I can't use the codeigniter redirect(); function because it loses the object and the validation errors are gone. Other frameworks I've used like Yii you can call the redirect function like: $this->redirect(); which solves the problem because you keep the object. I've tried using: $this->index() within the controller which works fine as a redirect but the validation errors are in another method which is where the current page is loaded from: $this->item($labs) but when I use this it get stuck in a loop Any ideas? I've seen this question a lot on the net but no clear answers. I'm researching using codeigniter "flash data" but think it's a bit overkill. cheers.

How to dynamically add a Javascript function (and invoke)

Based on a click event on the page, via ajax I fetch a block of html and script, I am able to take the script element and append it to the head element, however WebKit based browsers are not treating it as script (ie. I cannot invoke a function declared in the appended script). Using the Chrome Developer Tools I can see that my script node is indeed there, but it shows up differently then a script block that is not added dynamically, a non-dynamic script has a text child element and I cannot figure out a way to duplicate this for the dynamic script. Any ideas or better ways to be doing this? The driving force is there is potentially a lot of html and script that would never be needed unless a user clicks on a particular tab, in which case the relevant content (and script) would be loaded. Python Threading, loading one thread after another

Hi, I'm working on a media player and am able to load in a single .wav and play it. As seen in the code below. foo = wx.FileDialog(self, message="Open a .wav file...", defaultDir=os.getcwd(), defaultFile="", style=wx.FD_MULTIPLE) foo.ShowModal() queue = foo.GetPaths() self.playing_thread = threading.Thread(target=self.playFile, args=(queue[0], 'msg')) self.playing_thread.start() But the problem is, when I try to make the above code into a loop for multiple .wav files. Such that while playing_thread.isActive == True, create and .start() the thread. Then if .isActive == False, pop queue[0] and load the next .wav file. Problem is, my UI will lock up and I'll have to terminate the program. Any ideas would be appreciated.

video player for HTML 5 page not loading

I'm using VideoJS to as my video player for a project I've been working on. Basically I have a div, and I wanted to have the video player within that div, however when I load the page nothing happens, and the video is never played. In fact, the video is never loaded nor shown in the page. I basically copied the example from VideoJS' page. Loading index in MemoryIndex instance

Hello, Is there any way to load an existing index into an instance of MemoryIndex?. I have an application which uses Hibernate Search so I can use index() in FullTextEntityManager instance to index an object. I'd like to recover back the created index and insert it into a MemoryIndex instance to execute several queries over it. Is it possible? Thanks.

NHibernate lazy properties behavior?

I've been trying to get NHibernate into development for a project I'm working on at my workplace. Since I have to put a strong emphasis on performance, I've been running a proof-of-concept stress test on an existing project's table with thousands of records, all of which contain a large text column. However, when selecting a collection of these records, the select statement takes a relatively long time to execute; apparently due to the aforementioned column. The first solution that comes to mind is setting this property as lazy: <property name="Content" lazy="true"/> But there seems to be no difference in the SQL generated by NHibernate. My question is, how do lazy properties behave in NHibernate? Is there some kind of type limitations I could be missing? Should I take a different approach altogether? Using HQL's new Class(column1, column2) approach works, but lazy properties sounds like a simpler solution. It's perhaps worth mentioning I'm using NHibernate 2.1.2GA with the Castle DynamicProxy. Loading LLVM passes on Cygwin

I am trying to write an LLVM pass on Windows using Cygwin. When I make the project, a dll gets created in the Release/bin directory instead of a .so file in the Release/lib directory. The latter is what is shown in the LLVM document. When I try to load this dll using the -load flag, nothing happens. $opt -load ../../../Release/bin/Pass.dll -help The pass that I am trying to load isn't printed after this. How do I get this right?
