  • Install PHP on RedHat

    I just ran yum install php in the command prompt. Everything went fine ('complete!') as per the dialogue. I then uploaded a file that does not use short tags and is named with the proper extension (i.e., the name is test.php). <?php print "hello world"; ?> When I navigate my browser to test.php it just prints each of the characters shown above; i.e., PHP is not interpreting it. What might be the problem? Also, if there is a configuration file that needs to be updated, please tell me what directory path I am likely to find that file. Edit: Apache2 & Redhat

  • PHP not working when accessed through a domain name, but works fine when accessed through IP

    Done a basic setup of Ubuntu Server installing Apache, PHP and mysql through tasksel. When I browse to the IP address of the server it works fine and allows me to render PHP scripts fine. So I added a DNS entry for the server onto my local DNS server, calling it webdev.lazer.net When I go to this domain name through my browser it renders HTML documents fine but if I try to view PHP scripts it doesn't render and downloads in plain text to the browser (As if the PHP parser isn't rendering .php documents). I'm sure its some rookie mistake, but any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    I'm currently using Visual Studio 2008 to edit .js files with, and it has decent support but I want more... I like the VS syntax highlighting and auto-indentation features but additionally would like advanced features like: contextual info and help, collapsible JavaScript blocks, implicit symbol understanding for searching, refactoring and that kind of thing; also warnings and errors for the js code. Suggestions?

    Right now I'm using Eclipse for Android development, but my computer is kind of old and I like responsive development environments. I've tried using VIM, Emacs and TextMate but I'm missing every feature in the Eclipse Android plugin: Auto generate R class Check for errors & warnings on code Auto completion Deploy to device or emulator Integrate with DDMS The list goes to infinity ... I know Eclipse is the best for what I want to do, but if I want to use any editor, what do you recommend to achieve a not so frustrating Android development experience?

  • Problem with upper-case and lower-case xpath functions in selenium IDE

    Hi, I am trying to get a xpath query using the xpath function lower-case or uppper-case, but they seem to not work in selenium (where I test my xpath before I apply it). Example that does NOT work: //*[.=upper-case('some text')] I have no problem locating the nodes I need in complex path and even using aggregated functions, as long as I don't use the upper and lower case. Has anyone encountered this before? Does it make sense? Thanks.

    I am currently running Xampp for a dev server on Windows 7. It has Apache, PHP,MySQL and some other stuff all in one simple exe package for windows and works great. My version currently has PHP version 5.2.9 and the new version of Xampp comes with PHP 5.3.1 I would like to use the newer PHP but I do not want to update everything else. So how would I install the newest version of PHP in windows? Also on the Xampp page there is another extension download for Tomcat 6.0.20 I am not sure what Tomcat does can someone explain?

    I need to run a scrip via command line but the files necessary for me to run it require me to be in the directory of the script. But I cannot do it for every command line i need to run. Their are over five thousand. Could someone tell me how to either format the list easily or add something to the format that would make it run.   • Error while compiling/installing PHP with FPM for RPM on Centos 5.4 x64

    Hi, I'm trying to make an RPM with PHP 5.3.1 and PHP-FPM 0.6 for CentOS 5.4. So far it goes quite well, but when rpmbuild gets to the installation phase it fails with the following error: Executing(%install): /bin/sh -e /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.63379 + umask 022 + cd /usr/src/redhat/BUILD + cd /usr/src/redhat/BUILD/php-5.3.1/fpm-build/ + make install Installing PHP SAPI module: fpm Installing PHP CLI binary: /usr/bin/ cp: cannot create regular file `/usr/bin/#INST@12668#': Permission denied make: *** [install-cli] Error 1 error: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.63379 (%install) RPM build errors: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.63379 (%install) I am running rpmbuild as a normal user, so it's understandable that it will fail to install anything into /usr/bin, but it shouldn't try to install anything outside the buildroot in the first place. I have however specified the BuildRoot in the header of the spec file and I can see it is passed correctly to the make install command. Does anyone have some idea of what is going wrong here?     i just got some more questions while learning PHP, does php implement any built in plugin system? so the plugin would be able to change the behavior of the core component. for example something like this works: include 'core.class.php'; include 'plugin1.class.php'; include 'plugin2.class.php'; new plugin2; where core.class.php contains class core { public function coremethod1(){ echo 'coremethod1'; } public function coremethod2(){ echo 'coremethod2'; } } plugin1.class.php contains class plugin1 extends core { public function coremethod1(){ echo 'plugin1method1'; } } plugin2.class.php contains class plugin2 extends plugin1 { public function coremethod2(){ echo 'plugin2method2'; } } This would be ideal, if not for the problem that now the plugins are dependable on each other, and removing one of the plugins: include 'core.class.php'; //include 'plugin1.class.php'; include 'plugin2.class.php'; new plugin2; breaks the whole thing... are there any proper methods to doing this? if there are not, them i might consider moving to a different langauge that supports this... thanks for any help.

  • .htaccess send requests to a subfolder's index.php

    I have searched stackoverflow for my answer, but nothing that I have seen seems to work. I have a framework that sends all requests to an index.php file. Everything works when I install it in the root of the virtual host: http://domain/ http://domain/home http://domain/home/index The problem happens when I try to install the framework in a subdirectory like: http://domain/blog/ Requests like: http://domain/blog/home http://domain/blog/home/index All of those requests should be sent to the index.php file that lives in /blog My current set up is: http://domain/index.php - This file just prints out 'we are in the root of the virtual host' The framework is not installed there. http://domain/blog - This works fine When I try to got to http://domain/blog/home I get the roots index.php file not the frameworks. I get the message 'we are in the root of the virtual host'. I have the following .htaccess file located at http://domain/blog/.htaccess RewriteEngine on Options Indexes FollowSymLinks -MultiViews RewriteBase /blog/ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule !\.(js|ico|gif|jpg|png|css)$ index.php Any help is greatly appreciated. Is there any way to parse/coax mp3player.php into dumping a full list of mp3 links?   • PHP Mail Relay via Remote smtp Server

    We have a php application running on Linux which sends emails to there users. Currently its setup like php.ini is configured to send via local sendmail server but we have separate mail server for our organization for this domain. I want to send the php application emails via that remote smtp server so these emails can have the correct SPF records and sign via DKIM. But I could not see such option in php.ini to specify the remote host address to forward emails to that, its for windows only. I saw some post which suggest phpMailer but I could not find how to configure that so all our php application could send via our remote SMTP.
