• MySQL Master-Master replication generating thousands of log files

  Today, I checked the /var/lib/mysql/ directory of a server in a master-master replication setup and noticed there were about 3,600 slave-relay.00xxxx files in there (where "xxxx" is an incrementing integer). They appear to be binary log files and don't take up much space (only about 42K), but are they an indication that something is wrong? They range in date from August until today with about 25 per day.   Does anybody here know of a decent setup for having multiple computers and devices (iPhone/Android) logged into the same IM accounts (yahoo, gtalk, AIM) with consolidated web-based chat logs? I've tried/thought of a few approaches: IRC w/ IRSSI and bitlbee (was nice, but not a great solution for phones and chat logs were painful) Google Talk (would be great if I could just use this, but I need to support Yahoo - perhaps a Jabber relay?) Meebo (can this be used as a proxy?)

  Hey, I have obtained an SSL certificate by Thawte for domain.com Now my infrastructure changed due to heavy load I have mx.domain.com as SMTP relay storage.domain.com as Mail-Storage and domain.com pointing at Web-Server Every server is hosted on another dedicated/virtual server with individual IP. I do not want to put the Web-Server on the Mail-Storage for security reasons but I do want to use my SSL-Certificate for the Mail-Storage(POP3S/IMAPS). Is that possible or how do I solve that issue?

• SSH connection via USB to iPhone

  Hi, I want to connect to the SSH server on my jailbreaked iPhone via the USB connection (because that connection is much faster than WLAN) from MacOSX. Right now I am using this: http://novis.jimdo.com/2009/10/18/ssh-relay-aka-iphone-tunnel-version-3/ However, this is really buggy and always breaks when I am transfering a lot of data. Does anyone know a better solution? Preferable one that is free.

• Forwarding all received mail to another server in Exchange 2007

  Hi, We are moving away from our Exchange environment on a hosted server to one managed in-house, and I was wondering how to have the hosted Exchange forward all email received to the new server - the servers are not on the same network, and both have the same users setup. Basically, I just need the hosted Exchange to act as a dumb relay - accept the mail, send it straight on to our new server without trying to deliver locally. Is this possible? Regards Moo

  I have setup Postfix and Dovecot on an Ubuntu box following the instructions http://www.exratione.com/2012/05/a-mailserver-on-ubuntu-1204-postfix-dovecot-mysql/ I can see that email is being delivered to and accepted by the server, but the email is not available for retrieval via POP3. What could be missing in my configuraton? It seems that email is not being properly handed off to Dovecot. • Postfix issues sending mail to addresses under domain located on server

  I recently installed virtualmin on my nice shiny new rackspace cloud. Everything went seemlessly but I've been having some issues getting emails to send properly. The problem seems to be that the server can not send mail to email addresses where the domain is owned by my server. For example, on my server I run multiple virtual domains, lets call this one test.com. • What is the fastest method to restore MySQL replication?

  I have a MySQL (5.1) master-slave replication pair and replication to the slave has failed. It failed because the master ran out of disk space and the relay-logs became corrupt. The master is now back online and working properly. Since there is this error in the log the slave process can't simply be restarted. The server has a single 40GB InnoDB database and I would like to know what is the fastest method for getting the slave back in sync to minimize downtime.

  I have two hosts A and B and a host(called client here) C C will establish a tcp connection with A, and send http requests to A then A will relay the HTTP requests to B (the relaying may be seconds of delay) and B will spoof its IP address as the IP of A and send http response to C I know there is sequnce number inconsistency problem, but is it possible to trick the TCP protocol to make the connection viable? thanks!

To add an Endpoint behavior you have to add it to the endpoints. 1: host.Description.Endpoints[0].Behaviors.Add(new MyEndpointBehavior()) To add a contract or an operation behavior a custom attribute should work on the service contract definition. I haven’t tried that yet.   All the code provided in this blog and in the following files are for sample use. Improvements I don’t like to instantiate a client and a service to test my behaviors. But so far I have' not found an easy way to do it. Today I am passing a type of endpoint to the host creator and it creates the right binding type. This allows me to easily switch between bindings at will. I have used the same approach to test Mex Endpoints, another post should come later for this. Enjoy !

• Turn your laptop into a wireless Access Point with Windows 7!

  Windows 7 offers a very cool feature where you can connect multiple devices to any wired and wireless network connection (hotel, cable, 3G, UMTS, EDGE, WIFI, RJ45, Ethernet, etc.) by turning your own laptop into a wireless AP (Access Point) to relay those devices not directly connected to the internet. For this just enter these two commands to an elevated (right click on CMD.EXE, run as administrator): netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=YOURFRIENDLYSSID key=SOMEPASSWORD netsh wlan start hostednetwork At this point, if Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) is setup, anyone can connect to your SoftAP (if they know the PWD of course) and the traffic will be sent through whatever adapter you want. Pour rappel, le heartbeat sert à assurer que la communication entre le manager ASR et l'infrastructure Oracle est toujours opérationnelle. Le manager ASR envoie quotidiennement un heartbeat. Si deux heartbeat consécutifs manquent à l'appel, les assets attachés passent en statut "No heartbeat" dans My Oracle Support (MOS), et un e-mail est envoyé au compte qui a servi à enregistré le manager ASR et aux contacts associés aux assets. La version 4.6 apporte une amélioration significative, dans la mesure ou elle introduit un heartbeat au niveau de l'asset, pour les telemetry sources suivantes : ILOM avec version de firmware 3.2.1.4 ou plus serveurs Fujitsu M-10 Solaris 11 via un Manager ASR relay Cette amélioration renforce la fiabilité de l'outil et mérite vraiment de passer un petit peu de temps pour upgrader le manager ASR en 4.6 (pour upgrader un manager ASR, voir ce billet).   Is there a way to route mail to another port? I have an email account attached to my laptop that I'd like to be able to send and receive mail from. Due to mobility, I'll be passing through various networks that will probably block this port. My dynamic DNS provider allows me to utilize web-forwards for MX domains; is this possible? where I can web forward to a domain:port which is managed by my DNS provider when I traverse between networks. If not, is there a way? Of course i could use web-mail or relay-forwarding from my home server, but that's not geeky enough.

  I've been asked to build a "landing page" for a local branch of an international corporation. While the corporation has a well-established domain name, the local office wants to use a unique, separate url that will be easy for them to relay to clients. However, the corporation is considered a category leader, so the local office is also concerned about the importance to carrying over the company's brand to the URL. Questions that have arisen: From an SEO perspective, is there a benefit to including the brand name in the URL? Would it be more beneficial to buy a domain that relates generically to the INDUSTRY as opposed to the specific brand name? Would the benefits of an easy-to-remember, short domain outweigh any SEO benefits that might be gained by a longer, brand-specific domain?
