  • Dynamic URL for Service Reference in visual Studio 2010

    I am writing a Silverlight 3 application, this app uses a service reference to connect to a SharePoint site by using Sharepoint Lists.asmx web service Now i want to install my app on different servers, and i want my app to use the weBservice of the server on which it is installed (without me specifying it). In Vs2005, we used to specify "dynamic" for the webservice. How can i do this in Visual Studio 2010 (service reference)? there is no "dynamic" property for a service reference. Thanks,

  • Intellisense for Javascript - not correct in Visual Studio 2010

    var obj = document.getElementById("header"); Given the above code snippet, I should be able to wire event handlers. For example, I can wire onMouseDown to the mouse down event, the issue is that Visual Studio does not display this in the Intellisense. I've tried this on both a standalone Javascript file, as well as an MVC project to no luck. Is there anything I'm doing wrong - or is there a way to resolve this?

    The fogbugz plugin for visual studio opens up a tab right next to your regular code tabs with in it the fogbugz window. Tiny bit lame if you ask me, but I can accept that. Is there a way however to make that tab pinned? So I cannot accidently close it and it will stay the first tab at all times?

  • Uninstalling demo/trial of Visual Studio 2008 Team System

    I wish to uninstall the trail copy of VS 2008 Team System, as the trial is coming to its end. I had VS 2008 Professional Edition installed on the machine to start with and it still shows up in Add/Remove Problems. I am hoping that when I uninstall VS 2008 Team System I will be left with a working VS 2008 Professional Edition. When I try to uninstall VS 2008 Team System, I very quickly get an error dialog that says: A problem has been encountered while loading the setup components. Canceling setup. Help! Progress or lack there of so fare I have done dir %temp%*.log in a command prompt and can see any log files that are recent I am going to read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Installer#Diagnostic_logging to see if I can get any logging Aaron Stebner's WebLog has a post on where VS put's is log files, he also has a post on were some other products put there log files gives some info about where VS setup puts it's logs etc Aaron Ruckman provided me with the solution after I sent him the log files.

    Hi, I want to write stored procedure in visual studio that as a parameter recieves the name of project and runs in database TT and copies data from TT.dbo.LCTemp (where the LC is the name of the project recieved as a parameter) table to "TT.dbo.Points" table. both tables have 3 columns: PT_ID, Projectname and DateCreated I think I have written it wrong, here it is: ALTER PROCEDURE dbo.FromTmpToRegular @project varchar(10) AS BEGIN declare @ptID varchar(20) declare @table varchar(20) set @table = 'TT.dbo.' + @project + 'Temp' set @ptID = @table + '.PT_ID' Insert into TT.dbo.Points Select * from [@table] where [@ptID] Not in(Select PT_ID from TT.dbo.Points) END Any idea what I did wrong?     I have an XML file that lists a series of items, and the items are often referenced by their name in code. Is there any way to use reflection within Visual Studio to make this list 'accessible' sort of like intellisence?     Hi, sometimes after logging out and in again, my settings in Tools/Options/Projects and Solutions/VC++ Directories are lost. To investigate the problem I tried to find the file where Visual Studio (2008 Team) stores those settings on disk. (Or is it in the registry?) Can anybody point me to where it is? Thanks a lot!

The .zip file I downloaded from their website (http://excelpackage.codeplex.com) contains a .dll, a .xml file, a "GacReg.exe" and a file called ExcelPackage (with this description: "Program Debug Database").     Hi, I have a Visual Studio (2008) project where I have some files added as links (through Add Existing Item-Add As Link). Suppose I want to copy this project somewhere else (give it to another developer, release source code, etc.) and I would like to "convert" all these links to actual copies of these files. The tutorial doesn't mention setting up the TEMPLATE_DIRS setting in the django application or doing any work on the cloud service machine to install python/django. Could these be the problem?

    While editing HTML/ASPX/ASCX etc; whenever I select an html tag, visual studio highlights the entire tag in black and bold; the black I'm not so fussed about but the bold changes the length of the line and really messes up the formatting. Is there a way to disable this? Thanks, Chris

Soon I've found that I also have some very handicapped version of VS 2008 IDE installed as a part of VS2010 or SQLServer. At the same time there are a lot of interesting projects on the Web still targeting VS2008. Can I install a full-featured VS 2008 now, without it breaking something (for example by replacing some files with older versions)?

    I've been very upset these past years with all the UML tools (especially the clunky mammoth Rational Rose from IBM which I really hated each time a client asked to use it). I think UML did suffer from bad integration. I rarely used UML myself because of lack of productivity. So I had a positive surprise with Visual Studio 2010 especially the sequence diagram reversing tool which really helps understand code. For people who had tried VS 2010 Ultimate do you think the same ?
