    I'm using the smartif tag from this snippet (I'm holding on with regards to upgrading to 1.2) in my template for a certain boolean field like so: {% if payment.extends_membership == "True" %} {% trans "Yes" %} {% else %} {% trans "No" %} {% endif %} But whatever the value of extends_membership I get only No as the output. What could be the problem?

    I've been working towards a solution for some time and could use a little help. I know I've seen an example of this before, but tonight I cannot find anything close to what I need. I have a service that provides me all my DropDownLists, either from Cache or from the DomainService. They are presented as IEnumerable, and are requested from the a repository with GetLookup(LookupId). I have created a custom attribute that I have decorated my MetaDataClass that looks something like this: [Lookup(Lookup.Products)] public Guid ProductId I have created a custom Data Form that is set to AutoGenerateFields and I am intercepting the autogenerate fields. I am checking for my CustomAttribute and that works.   • Multiple Silverlight Unit Test Projects in Solution

    I am building out a number of Silverlight 4.0 libraries that are part of the same solution. I like to break them into separate projects and have a Unit Test project for each: SolutionX -LibraryProject1 ---Class1.cs ---Class2.cs -LibraryProject1.Test ---Tests1.cs ---Tests2.cs -LibraryProject2 ---Class1.cs ---Class2.cs ---CLass3.cs -LibraryProject2.Test ---Tests1.cs ---Tests2.cs ---Tests3.cs -LibraryProject3 ---Class1.cs -LibraryProject3.Test ---Tests1.cs This works great when using VS regular test projects and infrastructure because I can create and execute list of test that are aggregated from each Test project. But with the Silverlight Unit Test Framework since the Silverlight Unit Test Project must be the "start up project" I cannot figure how to run a collection of tests from each test project in one go. I have to run each separately then switch the starting project each time. I would prefer to avoid create complex build scripts or build definitions - is there a way to run all the tests at once? -Thanks

    Hi, I have the following problem: the application is using the custom itemscontrol called ToolBox. The elements of a toolbox are called toolboxitems and are custom contentcontrol. Now, the toolbox stores a number of images that are retrieved from a database and displayed. For that I use a datatemplate inside the toolbox control. However, when I try to drag and drop the elements, I don't get the image object but the database component.   • How to create StackedBarSeries with custom tooltip without losing standard colors

    I have a StackedBarSeries in Silverlight 4 charting (latest release). I have created a DataPointStyle called MyDataPointStyle for a custom tooltip. By itself this breaks the standard palette used for the different bars. I've applied a custom palette - as described in David Anson's blog to the chart. However when I have the DataPointStyle set for my SeriesDefinition objects it does not use this palette. I'm not sure what I'm missing - but David specifically says : ... it enables the use of DynamicResource (currently only supported by the WPF platform) to let users customize their DataPointStyle without inadvertently losing the default/custom Palette colors. (Note: A very popular request!)     I'm trying to write an auto-scaffolder for Index views. I'd like to be able to pass in a collection of models or view-models (e.g., IQueryable<MyViewModel>) and get back an HTML table that uses the DisplayName attribute for the headings (th elements) and Html.Display(propertyName) for the cells (td elements). Each row should correspond to one item in the collection. Ie the left nav with the different pages and docs. top nav with mostly links to sub-sites or other sites. Does anyone know of a good tutorial or example i can grab that has a horizontal layout of the left nav? i haven't found any.

    Wondering if anyone knows of a set of T4 templates for generating C# POCO classes and also mapping XML files for NHibernate from a set of tables in a database. I saw that David Hayden has created T4 for generating FluentNH code based upon a DBML model, but I'm not quite ready to use FluentNH yet as there isn't even an official release yet (although I love the idea). Anyone know of any T4 templates for using plain NHibernate?

    Is orthodox MVVM implementation pointless? I am creating a new application and I considered Windows Forms and WPF. I chose WPF because it's future-proof and offer lots of flexibility. There is less code and easier to make significant changes to your UI using XAML. Since the choice for WPF is obvious, I figured that I may as well go all the way by using MVVM as my application architecture since it offers blendability, separation concerns and unit testability. Theoretically, it seems beautiful like the holy grail of UI programming. This brief adventure; however, has turned into a real headache. As expected in practice, I’m finding that I’ve traded one problem for another. I tend to be an obsessive programmer in that I want to do things the right way so that I can get the right results and possibly become a better programmer. The MVVM pattern just flunked my test on productivity and has just turned into a big yucky hack! The clear case in point is adding support for a Modal dialog box. The correct way is to put up a dialog box and tie it to a view model. Getting this to work is difficult. In order to benefit from the MVVM pattern, you have to distribute code in several places throughout the layers of your application. You also have to use esoteric programming constructs like templates and lamba expressions. Stuff that makes you stare at the screen scratching your head. This makes maintenance and debugging a nightmare waiting to happen as I recently discovered. I had an about box working fine until I got an exception the second time I invoked it, saying that it couldn’t show the dialog box again once it is closed. I had to add an event handler for the close functionality to the dialog window, another one in the IDialogView implementation of it and finally another in the IDialogViewModel. I thought MVVM would save us from such extravagant hackery! There are several folks out there with competing solutions to this problem and they are all hacks and don’t provide a clean, easily reusable, elegant solution. Most of the MVVM toolkits gloss over dialogs and when they do address them, they are just alert boxes that don’t require custom interfaces or view models. I’m planning on giving up on the MVVM view pattern, at least its orthodox implementation of it. What do you think? Has it been worth the trouble for you if you had any? Am I just a incompetent programmer or does MVVM not what it's hyped up to be?

  • ASP.NET GridView - Editing Dynamic Template Columns

    Hello, I have created a GridView whose columns are dynamically created based on my data source. I have implemented these columns by using the approach described here.Those columns display properly on the initial load. However, I need to implement commanding so that a user can edit / delete a row in the GridView. At this point, I have implemented commanding as I would with a normal GridView. I have a TemplateField with an ItemTemplate that has LinkButton elements for edit and delete. The CommandName for each LinkButton is set to either Edit or Delete respectively. Oddly, when a user clicks either the Edit or Delete link, the data in the GridView disappears. However, I have verified that I am in fact re-binding the data when one of these LinkButton elements is selected. Can anyone provide some suggestions as to what the cause could be? Thank you!

    Hi, I'm using a DataGrid to display 2 possible types of DataRow in a DataTable. One type has the column Parent = NULL and the other has Parent set to another DataRow in the same DataTable. The list of column in the DataTable is always different, so explicitly describing each column is not possible. I want to display a UserControl in every cell of the Parent = DataRow rows, and default Text / Check boxes for the Parent = NULL rows. My first strategy is to try and set the default Column type for all automatically generated columns to be a DataGridTemplateColumn, regardless of datatype, so that I can use styles to then use either my UserControl or CheckBox or TextBox where required. How can I do this? More importantly, though, is there a better strategy than this? Cheers, Dave

  • How can I stop Silverlight DataForm immediately saving changes back to underlying object?

    I have a Silverlight master-details DataForm where the DataForm represents a street address. When I edit the Address1 textbox, the value gets automatically committed to the bound Address object once focus leaves the textbox. If I hit the Cancel button, then any changes are undone because Address implements IEditableObject and saves its state. The problem is that since any change is immediately propagated to the underlying object it will be shown in the master grid before the user has actually hit Save. I also have other locations where this data is shown. This is not a very good user experience. I've tried OneWay binding but then I can't commit back without manually copying all the fields over. The only thing I can think of doing is to create a copy of the data first or using OneWay binding, but they both seem a little clumsy. Does DataForm support this way of working?
