How do I display the full title bar in Firefox 29?

With Firefox 29, it no longer displays the full title. For example, in this screen shot here, it only display the beginning of "The New York Times - Breaking News, World News & Multimedia". How can I make it display the whole thing? EDIT (for clarification): I'd like to see the full title of the web page of the tab I am on at all times (hovering the cursor would not work for me). Making the tab full width only works if I have 1 or 2 tabs, but most of the time I have many more tabs so this wouldn't work for me.

SQL SERVER – Curious Case of Disappearing Rows – ON UPDATE CASCADE and ON DELETE CASCADE – T-SQL Example – Part 2 of 2

Yesterday I wrote a real world story of how a friend who thought they have an issue with intrusion or virus whereas the issue was really in the code. I strongly suggest you read my earlier blog post Curious Case of Disappearing Rows – ON UPDATE CASCADE and ON DELETE CASCADE – Part 1 of 2 before continuing this blog post as this is second part of the first blog post. Let me reproduce the simple scenario in T-SQL. The reason was because there is a foreign key created between Products and ProductsDetails Table with the keywords ON DELETE CASCADE. Due to ON DELETE CASCADE whenever is specified when the data from Table A is deleted and if it is referenced in another table using foreign key it will be deleted as well. Workaround 1: Design Changes – 3 Tables Change the design to have more than two tables. Create One Product Mater Table with all the products. It should historically store all the products list in it. No products should be ever removed from it. Add another table called Current Product and it should contain only the table which should be visible in the product catalogue. Another table should be called as ProductHistory table. There should be no use of CASCADE keyword among them. Workaround 2: Design Changes - Column IsVisible You can keep the same two tables. 1) Products and 2) ProductsDetails. Add a column with BIT datatype to it and name it as a IsVisible. Now change your application code to display the catalogue based on this column. There should be no need to delete anything. Workaround 3: Bad Advices (Bad advises begins here) The reason I have said bad advices because these are going to be bad advices for sure. You should make necessary design changes and not use poor workarounds which can damage the system and database integrity further. Here are the examples 1) Do not delete the data – well, this is not a real solution but can give time to implement design changes. 2) Do not have ON CASCADE DELETE – in this case, you will have entry in productsdetails which will have no corresponding product id and later on there will be lots of confusion. 3) Duplicate Data – you can have all the data of the product table move to the product details table and repeat them at each row. Now remove CASCADE code. This will let you delete the product table rows without any issue. There are so many things wrong this suggestion, that I will not even start here. (Bad advises ends here) Well, did I miss anything? Please help me with your suggestions. Modifying a HTML page to fix several "bugs" add a function to next/previous on a option dropdown

SOF, I've got a few problems plaguing me at the moment and am wondering if anyone could assist me with them. I'm trying to get Next Class | Previous Class to act as buttons so that when Next Class is clicked it will go to the next item in the dropdown list and for previous it would go to back one. There used to be a scroll bar that allowed me to scroll the main window left and right, it's missing because (I think it was to do with the scroll left and scroll right function) The footer at the bottom doesn't show correctly on mobile devices; for some reason it appears completely differently to as it does on a computer. The "bar" practically and the Scroll Left and Scroll buttons don't appear at all on mobile devices. The scroll left button is unable to be clicked for some reason, I'm unsure what I've done wrong. Refreshing the page resets the horizontal scroll position to far left (I'm pretty sure this relates to the scroll bar) I want to also find a way so that on mobile devices the the header will not show the placeholder image, however I can't work out what CSS media tag(s) I should be using. How to set title and class in the HTML for the options of a ModelChoiceField?

I have a model class MyModel(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=80, unique=True) parent = models.ForeignKey('self', null=True, blank=True) I want to render a ModelChoiceField for that model that looks like: <select name="mymodel" id="id_mymodel"> <option value="1" title="Value 1" class="">Value 1</option> <option value="2" title="Value 2" class="Value 1">Value 2</option> </select> The differences between this output and the default output for a ModelChoiceField are the title and class elements in the OPTION tag. They don't exist in ModelChoiceField's default output. For my purposes: The title element is supposed to be the Option Name. The class element is supposed to be self.parent.name. (this is my problem) So, in the HTML snippet above, Value 1 has no parent and Value 2 has a parent of Value 1. What is the best mechanism to change ModelChoiceField's default HTML output? EDIT: I understand how to create a new Widget for rendering HTML. The problem is how to render a value from the underlying model in each of the options.

Do real developers use UML and other CASE tools?

I'm a CS student, currently a junior, and in one of my classes this semester they have us studying all sorts of UML diagramming methods. Among others, we've touched on Petri nets, DFD diagrams, sequence diagrams, use case diagrams, collaboration diagrams, Jackson System Development diagrams, entity-relation diagrams, and more. I've worked on more than a few professional projects over the years and never encountered anyone who used these systems to any great degree (other than a general class diagram or a diagram of the tables in a database). I was just wondering if I could query the hive mind to see if this is true in your work experience too. Have you used these models at all and found them to be as important as they tell us students they are? Or is all this stuff just academic ivory-tower crap that people in the real world hardly ever touch? Which of these systems have you found to be effective and useful? Are there specific kinds of scenarios that they are more intended to be used in than what the typical software developer encounters?

How to camel-case where consecutive words have numbers?

Just wondering if anybody has a good convention to follow in this corner-corner-corner case. I really use Java but figured the C# folks might have some good insight too. Say I am trying to name a class where two consecutive words in the class name are numeric (note that the same question could asked about identifier names). Can't get a great example, but think of something like "IEEE 802 16 bit value". Combining consecutive acronyms is doable if you accept classnames such as HttpUrlConnection. But it seriously makes me throw up a little to think of naming the class IEEE80216BitValue. If I had to pick, I'd say that's even worse than IEEE802_16BitValue which looks like a bad mistake. For small numbers, I'd consider IEEE802SixteenBitValue but that doesn't scale that well. Anyone out there have a convention? Seems like Microsoft's naming guidelines are the only ones that describe acronym naming in enough detail to get the job done, but nobody has addressed numbers in classnames.

How can I make a case for "dependency management"?

I'm currently trying to make a case for adopting dependency management for builds (ala Maven, Ivy, NuGet) and creating an internal repository for shared modules, of which we have over a dozen enterprise wide. What are the primary selling points of this build technique? The ones I have so far: Eases the process of distributing and importing shared modules, especially version upgrades. Requires the dependencies of shared modules to be precisely documented. Removes shared modules from source control, speeding and simplifying checkouts/check ins (when you have applications with 20+ libraries this is a real factor). Allows more control or awareness of what third party libs are used in your organization. Are there any selling points that I'm missing? Are there any studies or articles giving improvement metrics?

Can I build or test a computer without a case?

I am in the process of building a really nice new PC right now. It's going to have a nice Lian Li case with the internals powder coated black and all the wires will be sleeved. So my problem is I am getting parts in a couple days but my case will not be completed for about a month because it is on back order plus time to powder coat it. I am purchasing many of m y parts from newegg.com and they claim you must return any dead parts within 30 days or the invoice for there warranty to replace bad parts. So is it possible for me to set up the PC without a case just to test that the main parts are working correctly within the timeframe I am allowed? If this is possible, how do I deal with turning the system on/off without a powere button? Or is therer one on a motherboard? Thanks for any tips/advice

Menu widget - no jQuery nor Javascript required - pure CSS

Goal: Create a menu widget that does not require any javascript, extremely lightweight, very fast, soley based on CSS, compatible with FireFox and Chrome. iPad title bars. Navbars or toolbars?

I see a bunch of apps for iPad with really cool title bars. These seem to be a combination of a navigation bar and a toolbar. They usually have a back button and a title as well as men other buttons. And a navbar only supports a left item, a right item and and title view. And the toolbar does not really support back buttons or titles. So how do I implement these rich navbars with many buttons on my UINavigationController driven application?

Facebook Share doesn't pick up title / description meta tags that are changed after page load.

Apparently Facebook Share doesn't pick up the title / description meta tags that are changed (via JavaScript) after the page load. It basically use the meta tags that are available upon load. This is a simple example. The link will change the title / description meta tags upon click. You can confirm that using Firebug. Click the f|Share button: Facebook still always shows "A title that is available upon page load." and "A description that is available upon page load." Anybody knows how to fix this?

Is there a way to remove the source domain from the window title in an out-of-browser Silverlight 3

We may not have the option to migrate over to Silverlight 4 right away, so I was wondering if anyone found a way to remove the source domain name from the window's title for out-of-browser Silverlight 3 applications. Our window title currently looks like this: "My App - localhost." Under Mac, I found the Info.plist file in the application bundle and found where you can set the Bundle name property as well as TrimmedSourceDomain. Unfortunately, when I clear the TrimmedSourceDomain property, the title looks like "My App -," and if I delete the property entirely, the application doesn't launch. I assume similar problems would occur under Windows. Have any of you found a workaround?

How do I use the html 'title' attribute with Html.Encode()?

Hello, I've been tryin to find an example of the syntax for getting an html 'title' for a string when using Html.Encode(). I want to display the full name in the mouseover title, if it's too long. Is there a way to do this without wrapping the string in a < span , i.e. <span title = "<%=Html.Encode(model.Name) %>"> //displays the full name on mouseover <%=Html.Encode(model.Name.Substring(0, 10))%>... //displays the name up to a max length </span> Or should I just do it this way? I would like to create a page where all images which reside on my website are listed with title and alternative representation. I already wrote me a little program to find and load all html files, but now I am stuck at how to extract src, title and alt from the html < img src="/image/fluffybunny.jpg" title="Harvey the bunny" alt="a cute little fluffy bunny"/ I guess this should be done with some regex, but since the order of the tags may vary, and I need all of them, I don't really know how to parse this in an elegant way (I could do it the hard char by char way, but thats painful).

How do I get a title or some text to appear in a Silverlight mediaplayer when switching to FullScree

I am working on an ASP.NET website with VB.NET code-behind. I have a Silverlight mediaplayer object on one of the pages and the user may view that video in FullScreen mode. When changing to full-screen mode they are losing the title and chapter of the video series they are viewing. I have tried accessing properties and searched the web for examples on how I could put a title or some text over the player when in FullScreen mode to give the user an indication of where they are currently at while viewing each video. I am using OnClientMediaEnded to move through the videos after each video has ended so they are able to watch the whole series once in FullScreen mode. I am using a call to javascript in with this method to do that and want to know if there is any way to get a title or text up there and then change once the video switches to the next in the series? The controls on the player also go away when going into FullScreen mode so any help with that would be greatly appreciated as well. Thanks

Spring MVC jQuery remote validation

Hi, I am using Spring MVC on the server side, but in one of the pages I decided to create an AJAX validation with jQuery rather than the default Spring validation. Everything works great, except when I have to do a remote validation to check if a "title" already exists. How can I get a distinct list of elements in a hierarchical query?

I have a database table, with people identified by a name, a job and a city. I have a second table that contains a hierarchical representation of every job in the company in every city. Suppose I have 3 people in the people table: [name(PK),title,city] Jim, Salesman, Houston Jane, Associate Marketer, Chicago Bill, Cashier, New York And I have thousands of job type/location combinations in the job table, a sample of which follow. You can see the hierarchical relationship since parent_title is a foreign key to title: [title,city,pay,parent_title] Salesman, Houston, $50000, CEO Cashier, Houston, $25000 CEO, USA, $1000000 Associate Marketer, Chicago, $75000 Senior Marketer, Chicago, $125000 ..... The problem I'm having is that my Person table is a composite key, so I don't know how to structure the start with part of my query so that it starts with each of the three jobs in the cities I specified. I can execute three separate queries to get what I want, but this doesn't scale well. e.g.: select * from jobs start with city = (select city from people where name = 'Bill') and title = (select title from people where name = 'Bill') connect by prior parent_title = title UNION select * from jobs start with city = (select city from people where name = 'Jim') and title = (select title from people where name = 'Jim') connect by prior parent_title = title UNION select * from jobs start with city = (select city from people where name = 'Jane') and title = (select title from people where name = 'Jane') connect by prior parent_title = title How else can I get a distinct list (or I could wrap it with a distinct if not possible) of all the jobs which are above the three people I specified?

How to get SQL Function run a different query and return value from either query?

I need a function, but cannot seem to get it quite right, I have looked at examples here and elsewhere and cannot seem to get this just right, I need an optional item to be included in my query, I have this query (which works): SELECT TOP 100 PERCENT SKU, Description, LEN(CONVERT(VARCHAR (1000),Description)) AS LenDesc FROM tblItem WHERE Title = @Title AND Manufacturer = @Manufacturer ORDER BY LenDesc DESC This works within a Function, however the Manufacturer is Optional for this search - which is to find the description of a similar item, if none is present, the other query is: SELECT TOP 100 PERCENT SKU, Description, LEN(CONVERT(VARCHAR (1000),Description)) AS LenDesc FROM tblItem WHERE Title = @Title ORDER BY LenDesc DESC Which is missing the Manufacturer, how to I get my function to use either query based on the Manufacturer Value being present or not. The reason is I will have a function which first checks an SKU for a Description, if it is not present - it uses this method to get a Description from a Similar Product, then updates the product being added with the similar product's description. It is just displaying the image on a page. But it is leaving all the html codes. even any new line message after the // Printing image on browser echo $resultbytes; //************************// So, for this i put this set of code in html tag: This is other sample code:  ** But in this It is showing the image in format of special charaters and digits. 1) So, Please help me to print the image with some HTML code. So that i can print it in my form to display the image. 2) Is there any way to convert the database image into real image, so that i can store it into my hard-disk and call it from tag?
