  I'm planning to create a news item which uses xml as it's backend and the Display should be like: Date: 08/Mar/2010 ------------------------------ Title     | News ------------------------------ News 4 | Some news News 3 | Some news News 2 | Some news News 1 | Some news ------------------------------ Date: 07/Mar/2010 ------------------------------ Title     | News ------------------------------ News 5 | Some news News 4 | Some news News 3 | Some news News 2 | Some news News 1 | Some news Display should be sorted on Date (descending) Then news items should be sorted on time (descending) Today's news item should be on top, then titles should be sorted-decending (timewise), later will come previous day's news items. I'm not able to come up with the logic of xml which should be used in this case. moreover I'm not able to figure out how should I check "Today's date" in xml's "if" statement. Can I please get some code sample to understand this kinda logic???

What else has changed in modern processors and mainstream frameworks? And is XML still slow? You can't find an RDBMS that doesn't claim some kind of native XML support these days; haven't they got it faster - a single pass to index it for example - yet?

  Repository pattern - Switch out the database and switch in XML files. Hello I have an asp.net MVC 2.0 project and I have followed the Repository pattern. Periodically, I am losing access to the database server so I want to have another mechanism in place (XML files) to continue developing. It is not possible to have a local version of the db unfortunately! I thought this would be relatively easy using the Repository pattern, to switch out the db repositories and switch in XML versions. However, I am having real trouble coming up with a solution. I have tried LinqToXML but then ran into problems trying to return a List of News items as the LinqToXML ToList returns Generic.List Should I be mapping the XElement list over to the News list by hand? It just seems a bit clunky compared to LinqToSQL attributes on the News class and then simply doing a Table.....ToList(); Any direction would be appreciated. Thanks

  Hi, I want to validate an XML file against RELAXNG schema provided. Searching on the net gave me hints to create a Schema instance using SchemaFactory by providing the appropriate Schema Language. So as per my requirement I used: *SchemaFactory.newInstance(XMLConstants.RELAXNG_NS_URI);* But the following exception was thrown at run: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: No SchemaFactory that implements the schema language specified by: http://relaxng.org/ns/structure/1.0 could be loaded at javax.xml.validation.SchemaFactory.newInstance(SchemaFactory.java:207) I am using Java6 and observed that only 'W3C_XML_SCHEMA_NS_URI' works. Rest all the schema URIs throws the similar exception. I am fairly new to using the XML validation APIs. Can someone please provide me the appropriate usage in case I am not doing it correctly? • Best way to find updates in xml feed

  Hello all, I have an xml feed that I have to check periodically for updates. The xml consists of many elements and I'm looking to figure it out which is the best (and probably faster) way to find out which elements suffered updates from last time I've checked. What I think of is to check first the lastBuildDate for modifications and if it differs from the previous one to start parse the xml again. This would involve keeping each element with all of its attributes in my database. But each element can have different number of attributes as well as other nested elements. So if it would be to store each element in my database what would be the best way to keep them ? That's why I'm asking for your help :) Thank you.

  what is the easiest(and fastest) way to perform this kind of transformation: "Data in XML" to "Some MS Word 2003 Supported format" to PDF using Java? My first guess was to fill the template with XML data (using Placeholders for example) and then save it and convert it to PDF. But I can't just put placeholders to DOC files, and I can't convert from some other Word formats to PDF... My primary task is to convert XML Data to PDF allowing users to change the PDF on-demand. The best way to change the PDF on-demand seems to give user some kind of MS Word readable document, and then convert it back. There are 2 main problems with this task: 1) I can't use OpenOffice for conversion. 2) System should be able to convert ~1 page of table-based document per 1 second on 2Ghz Core. 3) RTF does not provide enough styling, so some more complex format should be used. I tried net.sf.saxon.FeatureKeys whitout success. My question is: what's the correct way to do that?

  Hi All, I have to generate XML in the below format <objects> <items> <item ="delete"> <searchfields> <searchfield name="itemname" value="itemValue" /> </searchfields> </item> </items> </objects> So I have generated the CS file using xsd.exe by converting the above XML to XSD. xsd.exe -c -l:c# -n:XmlSerializationDeleteObject DeleteObject.xsd The CS file that is generated contains 4 classes. My question is i have to build the XML in the above mentioned format using the class that is generated. I am able to serialize the class files one by one which retirns one tag at a time, but i am unable to build it in the way that i mentioned above. Please help Regardas, jebli

For some reason, I have a problem regarding Rating value that gets lost when I load from XML (using void LoadFromXML(string path) method. The following code prints 0 although actual value is 5: BookStore b = new BookStore(); b.LoadFromXML(Server.MapPath("list.xml")); Label1.Text = b.BooksList[0].Rating.ToString(); Please note: only the specific Rating parameter is lost.   I've got my iPhone app pulling down live data content via XML nicely, and I've formatted the UITableView cells to display the content without too many headaches. However, at the moment, for each cell I'm just showing a default graphic for now, but I want this to be pulled down from my server too. The code snippet that grabs the image (which is actually in my project) is: cell.imageView.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"TBC.png"]; But that will need to be the dynamic image. In my XML, am I better just returning 'mypic.png' and let the SDK determine the full path, like http://myapp.com/mypic.png or storing the full URL to the image in the XML?

  Scenario I've got an application written in C# that needs to dump some data every minute to a database. Because its not me that has written the spec, I have been told to store the data as XML in the SQL Server database and NOT TO USE the "bulk upload" feature. Essentially I just wanted to have a single stored procedure that would take XML (that I would produce from my datatable) and insert it into the database.....and do this every minute. Current Situation I've heard about the use of "Sp_xml_preparedocument" but I'm struggling to understand most of the examples that I've seen (My XML is far narrower than my C Sharp ability). Question I would really appreciate someone either pointing me in the direction of a worthwhile tutorial or helping explain things. EDIT - Using (SQL Server 2005)

I wanna take user interaction events from XML Nodes of my Document. I First tried <do:landingTime xhtml:onclick="fnc">20:48:29.45</do:landingTime> with no Luck. But <xhtml:span onclick="fnc"> works. • Light weight C++ SAX XML parser

  I know of at least three light weight C++ XML parsers: RapidXML, TinyXML and PugiXML. However, all three use a DOM based interface (ie, they build their own in-memory representation of the XML document and then provide an interface to traverse and manipulate it). For most situations that I have to deal with, I much prefer the SAX interface (where the parser just spits out a stream of events like start-of-tag, and the application code is responsible for doing whatever it wants based on those events). Can anyone recommend a light weight C++ XML library with a SAX interface? Edit: I should also note the Microsoft XmlLite library, which does use a SAX interface. Unfortunately, it's ruled out for me at the moment since as far as I know it's closed source and Windows only (please correct me if I'm wrong on this).

By taking out the whole tag also the parser is complaining. I would like to know what possible cases for this tag makes the XML file valid according the above schema when i don't have the data to populate for tag

• Inserting Newline from XML to Database

  I am trying to parse this xml document in which a newline is required for certain fields and must be inserted into the database with the newline. But I've been running into problems. 1)First Problem: \n Character The first problem I had was using the \n like below. <javascript>jquery_ui.js\nshadowbox_modal.js\nuser_profile.js\ntablesorter.js</javascript> The problem was in the database the field came out ot be jquery_ui.js\nshadowbox_modal.js\n... and when output into html it was jquery_ui.jsnshadowbox_modal.jsn............... 2) Then I tried actually having newlines in the xml <javascript>jquery_ui.js shadowbox_modal.js user_profile.js tablesorter.js</javascript> The problem was the output become %20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20shadowbox_modal.js, and so forth. So how can I get a newline to hold from xml when entered into a database and then output with the newline still?
