I have a web server that gets a lot of traffic and Im learning all about managing web servers, but before my traffic gets out of hand I want the server tweaked up.   On a old machine (512 MB RAM) I am currently running ubuntu jaunty and firefox 3.0.15. I tried the ad blocker addon add block plus but it eats lots of RAM (300 MB). Is high memory load of this add-on a bug, which is fixed in a newer version or just normal? If so, why is the memory usage so high? Is there another ad blocker add-on for firefox or another browser- add-on combination for linux (ubuntu jaunty) which uses significant less RAM?

  I have a webpage ASP.NET in IIS 6. There a a lot of urls already indexed by google and links set in web-catalogs that looks like this www.mypage.com/directory1/page.aspx Now I changed this that the url looks like this: www.mypage.com/page.aspx I want the urls with the directory in the path to redirect to the urls without the directory, so that the links that are set and indexed can stay as they are. How can I achieve this with IIS 6.

  Hi guys I am running subversion 1.4 on Centos 5.2 and my clients are using tortoise to do their check out, commit etc. I think I have permissions problems but I have configured the folder to accessible to everyone with 777 attribute but I seem not to be getting anywhere. Its generating this error on tortoise "svn: Can't open file 'PATH/TO/MY/FILES/entries': Permission denied".   I have an HD 250 Gb It is portioned to C,D,E C has 50 GB D has 50 GB and the rest is given to E, On C I have Windows 7, I decided to install Opensuse On E. I have installed Opensuse Successfully. Now Opensuse loader shows Windows7 option when I it loads but, when I chose to load windows 7 I get " A Disk read error occured, press ctrl+alt+e to restart". • Is the XP VMM a bottleneck on a multi core machine?

  I have a dual Xeon hex core machine running an IO intensive application. (WinXP 32) I am seeing a hardware driver (1/2 user mode, 1/2 kernel, streaming data) that is using 6k delta page faults per second. When other applications load or allocate large amounts of memory the driver's hardware buffer gets an underrun (application not feeding it fast enough). Could this be because the kernel is only using one core to service page fault interrupts?

When running 10Mbps, it takes more time to completely load the same page. The server bandwidth usage is small, with average less than 5Mbps. (I can see some website hosted at same data center loads very fast.)
